This study aims to elucidate the possible effects of Senna spectabilis on the center of hunger and satiety, analyzing their influence on the inhibitory or stimulatory effect of hunger and thirst in rats. The ethanol extract of Senna spectabilis was administered to Wistar rats at three different doses (250, 500 e 1000 mg/kg) for 32 consecutive days and, at the end of each day, the consumption of food and water was measured. There was no observed any changes of consumption pattern of observed animals.

Efeito pró-erétil em ratos tratados com extrato etanólico das vagens de Senna spectabilis / Pro-erectile effect in rats treated with ethanol extract of pods of Senna spectabilis

This study aimed analize the Pro-erectile effect of rats trated with ethanol extract os pods of Sennaspectabilis (EEVSs), a native plant from Savana, predominant on brazilian northwest. Compreendendo que Thefeed is an important aspect for the development of good breeders and reproductive risk of failures caused byempirical use of native plants in the feeding of cattle can not be ignoredWere used 40 Wistar rats separated inthree groups treated with EEVSs and one group treated with apomorphine and another treated with distilledwater. After each treatment the animals were observed In a transparent chamber. The rats that received theEEVSs showed no significant alterations. However at presence of apomorphine there was an increase of penileerection, for it is an dopaminergic agonist.(AU)

This study aimed analyse the effects of Senna spectabilis on ejaculatory frequency and copulatoryparameters of rats, getting some answers related to aphrodisiacs and adverse effects and potential influencers inthe sexual behavior of animals observed in some species of plants similar to Senna spectabilis. Were used 35Wistar ratos, being 28 with erectile dysfunction induced by paroxetine The ethanol extract of S. spectabilis(EESs) were administered in three different doses (250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg body weight) for seven consecutivedays. Then the rats were allocated in cages with female rats at estrus phase and the ejaculatory frequency wasnoted. The animals in this study showed no erection while they were on observation and no significantbehavioral change was observed, compared to the control group.(AU)

Pesquisa de atividade androgênica e antiandrogênica em ratos tratados com extrato etanólico das vagens de Senna spectabilis / Evaluation of Androgenic and antiandrogenic activity in rats treated with ethanol extract of pods of Senna spectabilis

Although the high expression of the northeastern herds, the levels of productivity, reproducibility,carcass gain and other factors are low. This is mainly due to the main food source being from native plants ofthe Savanna. Were used male Wistar rats (64) divided into eight groups. These animals were castrated and, afterrecovery, received ethanol extract of pods of Senna spectabilis (EEVSs) in three different doses and testosteroneintramuscularly (some groups). The animals were treated for 32 consecutive days and at the end wereeuthanized. The organs were collected and weighed for evaluation of androgenic and anti-androgenic activity.The extract showed no androgenic nor anti-androgenic activity at the doses tested.(AU)
