Simarouba versicolor has several proven biological activities, however little is known regarding effectson reproduction, so this study evaluated the effect of the ethanol extract of S. versicolor (EOH-Sv) embryofoetaldevelopment. It used to females pregnant randomly assigned into three groups receiving the extract of S.versicolor in doses of 5mg, 10mg and 20mg and a control group (-) received DMSO (3%) from the 8th to 12thday of gestation. The half of the fetuses was set at Bodian for visceral analysis, while the other half fixed informalin (5%) and subjected to alizarin red technique. The EOH-Sv at doses of 20 and 10mg caused abortionand death of the females and the dose of 5mg/kg was able to reduce the number of live fetuses compared tocontrols, there was an increase in the loss rate after implantation (46,03%) even with 90% of implantation. ThusEOH-Sv demonstrated maternal and fetal gestational toxicity.(AU)

The Richeria grandis known is for its aphrodisiac properties and due to its wide empiric use well as thelack of gender Richeria studies the objective of this study was to evaluate the androgenic and anti-androgenicactivity of this plant. They were used in this study 64 male Wistar rats, castrated, divided into eight groups. Thegroups for the study of androgen activity were treated with boiling water over corn R. grandis ethanolic extractoil at doses of 75, 150 and 300 mg / kg and groups of antiandrogenic activity received corn oil, distilled waterand ethanol extract at doses of 75, 150 and 300 mg / kg associated with testosterone. It was found that theethanol extract of R. grandis in the tested doses did not differ statistically from the negative and positive controlsdid not thus demonstrating androgenic activity or antiandrogenic.(AU)

Medicinal plants are important for supplying raw materials for the synthesis of drugs and may also betoxic. The species Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi, popularly known as aroeira red or pink pepper is widelyconsumed by many people. This study aimed to assess adverse effects of the essential oil from the fruits ofSchinus terebinthifolius on pregnancy, administered during the preimplantation period. We used 32 pregnantanimals divided into four groups, a control (Tween 80) and three treated oil at doses of 25mg / kg, 50mg / kgand 100mg / kg treated once daily, the first to the seventh day of pregnancy, orally. Statistically there was nodifference between the treated groups compared to pre-implant loss, but there was a statistically significantdifference with respect to the increased weight of the empty uterus, both in relative mass as absolute. It isconcluded that the rats treated with oil of mastic-red fruits showed signs of gestational toxicity.(AU)

All groups were treated orally once a day, from the 8º day of pregnancy until day before the birth, who interrupted in parturition day and continued treatment until day weaning (± 21 days). It was observed thatthere was an increase in bilateral ankle sprain while the progenies in the two higher doses. We conclude thatfemale rats treated with OE-St in the post-implementation period, showed a possible maternal-fetal toxicit.(AU)

It aimed to investigate the possible effects induced by the diluted latex oral administration of H. sucuuba(LdHs) in Wistar rats on the estrous cycle and other organ systems. The Wistar rats received by gavage the LdHs.The results showed that there was a decrease in average daily intake and ponderable development negativeinterference in the group treated with the dose 100 mg / kg. The number of primary follicles and in the dose 100 mg/ kg LdHs was superior to the control group. It was also observed a decrease in the number of estrous cycles andan increase in the average duration of the estrous cycle in this group. Therefore, doses 25 and 50 mg / kg of LdHshave been shown safe, however the dose 100 mg / kg decreased reproductive efficiency and promoted a lowsystemic toxicity as caused a decrease in feed consumption and interfered with the ponderable development.(AU)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the reproductive organs on the effect of Simarouba versicolorethanol extract (EEOH-Sv) at a dose of 10mg / kg administered for 60 days / VO. The testes, epididymis, prostate and seminal vesicles were sectioned and placed in vials Boan solution for 24 hours and then preservedin alcohol at 70%. Histopathology of organs were dehydrated in xylol, impregnated and embedded in paraffin.Subsequently cut in the microtome at a thickness of 3 m and subjected to hematoxylin-eosin. The results of thehistopathology of the testis was observed that the EEOH-Sv caused concretions in 100% of animals evaluatedand 20% of the animals showed sharp associated with degeneration of the seminiferous tubules. In theepididymis was observed in 40% epithelial thickening, and there was 100% of benign prostatic hypertrophyassociated in 20% of animals inflammatory infiltrate. Thus, it is concluded that-Sv EEOH was toxic to thisorgans except the seminal vesicle.(AU)

Simarouba versicolor belongs to Simaroubaceae family. It is known that this and other species of thegenus have several activities including the antiestrogen and male infertility. In order to verify the ethanol extractof Simarouba versicolor (Sv-EtOH) in isolated uterus of Wistar rats, studies have been conducted with Sv-EtOHon the tonic contractions induced by KCl or oxytocin, recorded by isometric transducers coupled to a system ofdigital acquisition, by characterizing that blocking the uterine contraction induced by oxytocin, it was found thatthere was no significant inhibition of these contractions in the presence of Sv EtOH at concentrations of 500,750, 1000 µg / mL. The Sv-EtOH (81, 243, 500, 750, 1000µg/mL) did not induce a significant relaxation ofcontractions induced by KCl showing an EMAX 49.26 ± 7.32 and did not induce significantly the inducedrelaxation of concentrations with oxytocin EMAX de 18,78±4,91%.(AU)

We used 54 female mice pregnantwomen in the evaluation protocol gestational toxicity and progeny. Females received the LdHs by gavage during8th to 12th day of gestation and during late pregnancy were euthanized for the observation of gestationalparameters and evaluation of the fetuses. None of LdHs doses interfered negatively on gestational parametersinvestigated or ossification of fetuses, and also did not cause visceral malformations in the offspring. Therefore, thetested doses of LdHs did not cause gestational toxicity in female mice as well as did not interfere in the progeny.(AU)

However, histopalógicos studies in the reproductive organs are scarce. Thisstudy aimed to evaluate the effect of ethanol extract of S. versicolor (Sv-EtOH) at doses 10, 20, 40 mg / kg in theuterine epithelium after 30 days of treatment. After euthanasia, the uteri were removed, fixed in 10% bufferedformalin. Followed by dehydration with alcohol (70-100%), cleared in xylene, subjected to impregnation andinclusion in paraffin. Cut thickness of 5.0 µm and subsequently submitted to hematoxylin-eosin and examinedunder a microscope. The results showed eosinophilic inflammatory infiltrate of medium intensity reaching themuscle layer. The highest dose showed changes of the endometrium, epithelium with increased with 100%eosinophil infiltrate the lamina propria of moderately severe intensity and mucosal epithelial cell swelling.(AU)
