The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the stability of the equilibrium of biological populations by means of graphical methods, and the application of this analysis in projects of preservation or eradication of natural populations.
Resumo
The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between the maturity and the size of an animal. This analysis gives informations on fecundity and growth curve.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the selection curve of gill-nets used to catch curimbatá, Prochilodus scrofa (Steindachner, 1881), according to Gulland (1969). The result is: c* (L)=e-0.025(L-l.67m)2 Where: c* (L)= relative frequency of retention, L = length of the fish, and m = perimeter of the mesh.

The purpose of this paper is the determination of the "reproduction curve" of the sea bob shrimp population of Santos Bay (Brazil, 23°S). This population is exploited by the fishing fleet of Santos. We got the following relationship: R= Ne 1.289-.011N Where: R = number of recruits per unit effort, N = mean number of individuals per unit Effort during the spawning period, related with R.

The purpose of this paper is the determination of the "mortality curve" of the sea bob shrimp population of Baía de Santos (Brasil, 23°S). This population is exploited by the fishing fleet of Santos. We got the following relationship: where: M ( t) = .335N (t)1.03 M ( t) = proportional number of dead individuals in t; N (t) = proportional number of individuals in the beginning of t; t = 2 months.

The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between total annual catch and fishing intensity of the corvina (brazilian croaker) caught along the center coast of São Paulo State (Brazil, 24ºS). We obtained: C = (32.2 - .0019lE)E where: C = total annual catch (kg) (1959-1971), and E = fishing intensity (total number of hauls, 3.5 hours of trawling, during the year). C is maximum (135 712 kg) for E = 8 429 hauls per year.

The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between total annua1 catch and fishing intensity of goete (stone croaker) caught along the center coast of São Paulo State (Brazil, 24°S). We obtained: C = (49.0 - .00324E)E where:C = total annual catch (kg) (1960-1971), and E = fishing intensity (total number of hauls, 3.5 hours of trawling, during the year). C is maximum (185 262 kg) for E = 7 562 hauls per year.

The sardine population of southern coast of Brazil (23°S) exploited by the fishing fleet of Santos, from 1967 to 1970, presented total mortality rate (mean) of 98% per year. The equilibrium of the production per unit effort (Fig.1) suggests a high recruitment according to Santos et al. (1969).

The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between total annual catch and fishing intensity of the pescada foguete (king weakfish) caught along the center coast of São Paulo State (Brazil, 24°S). We obtained:C = (67.7 - .00355E)E where: C = total annual catch(kg)(1959-1971), and E = fishing intensity (total number of hauls, 3.5 hours of trawling, during the year). C is maximum (322 767 )for E = 9 535 hauls per year.

The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the relationship between total annual catch and fishing intensity of the sea bob shrimp, caught near the Santos Bay (Brazil, 23ºS). We obtained: C = (63.7 -.00l00E)E where: C = total annual catch (kg) (1959-1971), and E = fishing intensity (total number of hauls, 2.5 hours of trawling, during the year). C is maximum (1 014 422 kg) for E = 31 850 hauls per year.
