Three new species of Euplocania Enderlein (Psocodea, 'Psocoptera', Ptiloneuridae), for the state of Roraima, Brazil

The three new species of Brazilian Euplocania are described and illustrated, two species belong in the amabilis species group (Euplocania maraca sp. nov. and Euplocania ufrr sp. nov.) and one species belong in the marginata species group (Euplocania macuxi sp. nov.). Information on species groups, species subgroups and distribution by Brazilian states is included for known species of Euplocania.(AU)

Neurostigma xanthopterum New, 1980 (Psocodea: Psocoptera: Epipsocidae): updated diagnosis, description of a female specimen, morphological variations and a checklist of all known species of the genus

The holotype of the Neurostigma xanthopterum New, 1980 is here illustrated based on photographs. We also describe and illustrate a previously unknown female individual that is assigned to this species. New records for five localities in the Brazilian state of Amazonas, one in the Brazilian state of Acre and another in the Brazilian state of Amapá, are presented. The mouthparts of both sexes are here describe and illustrate. Thirteen types of variation and anomalies in the fore-hindwing veins were found. We found unique patterns in the number and shape of transverse veins in the pterostigma between individuals. We also identified a large variation in the denticles present in the lacinia. Therefore, we suggest these variable characteristics (fore-hindwing veins and lacinia denticles) are not to be used for the diagnosis of species of this genus. A revised diagnosis of N. Xanthopterum is also presented.(AU)

First record of Psocodea (Psocoptera) on coffee (Coffea canephora) in the Brazilian Amazon (Rondônia state) / Primeiro registro de Psocodea ('Psocoptera') em café (Coffea canephora) em Rôndonia, na Amazônia brasileira

There is much information regarding the association of Psocoptera and coffee as stored grain pests and little is known about their presence in coffee plants. We conducted a survey in a coffee plantation of Coffea canephora in the municipality of Candeias do Jamari, Rondônia state, Brazil, where we obtained the first record of a coffee plant as a host of Psocoptera in the Brazilian Amazon region, and the first record of a representative of the family Archipsocidae (Archipsocus lenkoi) for the state of Rondônia. The psocid population was concentrated and not evenly distributed over the survey area, which indicates an irregular distribution pattern. We have not detected damage or injury to the coffee plants and therefore we cannot consider these psocids as a pest in the coffee plantation.(AU)

Há muita informação sobre a associação de Psocoptera e café como peste em grãos armazenados, mas pouco se sabe sobre sua presença nas plantas do café. Nós realizamos uma amostragem em uma plantação de café de Coffea canephora no município de Candeias do Jamari, Rondônia, onde obtivemos o primeiro registro de uma planta de café como hospedeira de Psocoptera na Amazônia brasileira e o primeiro registro de um representante da família Archipsocidae (Archipsocus lenkoi) para o estado de Rondônia. A população de psocídeos estava concentrada e não distribuída uniformemente na área de amostragem, o que indica um padrão de distribuição irregular. Não detectamos danos ou injúrias nas plantas de café e, portanto, não podemos considerar esses psocídeos como uma praga na plantação de café.(AU)

Triplocania Roesler (Psocodea: Psocoptera: Ptiloneuridae): review of the internal classification, new species, and new records for the state of Bahia, Brazil

Abstract Four species of Triplocania collected in the Brazilian state of Bahia, are described and illustrated, based on male specimens, namely: T. annyae sp. nov., T. diamantina sp. nov., T. lauzie sp. nov. and T. miltoni sp. nov. They differ from the other species in the genus, in which the males are known by hypandrium and phallosome structures. New records of T. capixabaSilva-Neto, García Aldrete & Rafael, 2016 and T. manueliSilva-Neto, García Aldrete & Rafael, 2016 for the state of Bahia are presented. In addition, an update on the Triplocania internal classification is proposed.

On Loneura crenata Navás and Loneura ocotensis García Aldrete (Psocodea, ‘Psocoptera, Ptiloneuridae)

Here it is shown that Loneura crenata Navás, 1927 and Loneura ocotensis García Aldrete are distinct species, so the previously proposed synonymy of the latter with the first is not valid. Illustrations of the L. crenata holotype, deposited in the Hamburg University Zoological Museum, are here presented for the first time.(AU)

We present the first record for Loxosceles gaucho Gertsch, 1967 in the Amazonian region of Brazil. Four males, fifteen females and forty-nine immatures were collected in different places in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. This is the third species of Loxosceles reported in the Amazon region along with L. amazonica Gertsch, 1967, and L. similis Moenkhaus, 1898. This is the first record of an invasive species of a venomous animal in the state of Amazonas, Brazil, which is noteworthy due to its synanthropic habit, which increases the risk to the local population.

Catalogue of Psocoptera (Insecta: Psocodea) types housed in the collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo

A catalogue of type specimens of Psocoptera (Insecta: Psocodea) deposited in the collection of the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, is presented and updated to February, 2019. 45 holotypes and 47 paratypes of 52 species were found, included in the suborders Psocomorpha and Trogiomorpha, and listed in the families Amphipsocidae, Asiopsocidae, Caeciliusidae (infraorder Caeciliusetae); Lachesillidae and Pseudocaeciliidae (infraorder Homilopsocidea); Philotarsidae (infraorder Philotarsetaea) Hemipsocidae, Myopsocidae and Psocidae (infraorder Psocetae); Ptiloneuridae (infraorder Epipsocetae), and Lepidopsocidae (infraorder Atropetae). The taxa are presented alphabetically by suborders, infraorders, families, subfamilies, tribes and genera, followed by species (updated to the valid name), bibliographic citation, type category, description of the type condition with collection number and method of preservation. When necessary, comments are added.
