O objetivo deste artigo é revisar o efeito da melatonina na viabilidade embrionária e ambiente uterino em ovinos, tanto in vivo quanto in vitro, considerando as vias pelas quais esse hormônio pode ter influência no embrião ou o mecanismo de reconhecimento materno e estabelecimento de gravidez em ovelhas.(AU)The aim of this article is to review the effect of melatonin on embryo viability and uterine environment in sheep, both in vivo and in vitro, considering the pathways by which this hormone could have influences at the embryo or the mechanism of maternal recognition and establishment of pregnancy in sheep.(AU)
