RESUMO

O tratamento endodôntico atualmente é o tratamento de escolha para dentes fraturados em diversos centros veterinários que contam com serviço odontológico especializado no país. Este tipo de tratamento envolve várias etapas que exigem um trabalho meticuloso e materiais específicos. Entre os passos do tratamento, temos o preparo químico-cirúrgico, onde há a utilização de substâncias químicas, e instrumentais mecânicos que fazem o preparo interno do canal, modelando-o e removendo dentina contaminada. O uso de medicação intracanal promove maior desinfecção no interior do canal, na região do delta apical e a regressão no processo infeccioso periapical. A obturação definitiva de dentes com lesão periapical ativa pode permitir a infiltração apical e recontaminação do canal através da interface entre o material obturador e dentina.

ABSTRACT

Root canal therapy is currently the treatment of choice for teeth fractured in several veterinary centers that have specialized dental services in the country. This type of treatment involves several steps that require meticulous and specific materials. Among the steps of treatment, we have the chemical-surgical preparation, where there is the use of chemicals, and mechanical instruments that make the internal canal preparation, shaping it and removing infected dentin. The use of intra-canal medication promotes greater disinfection inside the root canal, the delta apical and periapical regression in the infectious process. The final filling of teeth with periapical lesion could allow active apical leakage and recontamination of the canal through the interface between the filling material and dentine.
