(AU)Because of the importance ofmetals in food, it was measured andquantification the metals, usingthe atomic absorption spectrometer, for in samples of vegetables:lettuce, carrot, potato, cabbage, spinach, rocket, cabbage, onionand chard. The limits of detection(LOD) were obtained from: Pb(0.2 mg/L), Zn (0.5 mg/L), Cu(0.2 mg/L); Cr (0.1 mg/L); Fe(0.5 mg/L) , Ni (0.2 mg/L), K (0.5mg/L) and Na (0.3 mg/L). All LOD,are within the range permitted byANVISA, for human consumption. The rocket was the vegetables thatshowed higher levels of Zn, Cu andFe. The metals Pb, Cr and Ni werenot detected, which is very useful asthey may cause damage to health,in particular concentrations. (AU)
