Resumo

A catarata é definida como qualquer opacidade localizada no núcleo, córtex ou na cápsula da lente e é uma das oftalmolopatias mais comuns na rotina de atendimentos médico-veterinários. Ela pode causar inflamações intra-oculares (úvea) e cegueira. Como o advento da facoemulsificação e do implante de lentes intra-oculares dobráveis os resultados obtidos tornaram-se muito melhores. O presente artigo tem como objetivo relatar os resultados obtidos com o implante de diferentes tipos de lentes intra-oculares dobráveis utilizadas em cães após a cirurgia de catarata utilizando a técnica de focoemulsificação(AU)
Cataract is defined as any opacity localized into the lens nuclear region, cortex or its capsule and it is one of the most common eye diseases seeing in a small animal practice The concition is potentially blinding and frequently causes inflamamation on the intraocular structures. With the advent of pohacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lenses implant the results obtained in the surgery, particulary pertaining to restoring the vision, became much better. The objective of this articles is to describe results achieved with phacoemulsification for treating cataracts using different types of foldable intraocular lenses in dogs(AU)
