This paper describes a case of omphalocele in a dog, detected through the gestational ultrasound exam. It was observed an increase of amniotic liquid amount with the presence of floating echogenic tubular structures that were inserted in the umbilical region, suggesting intestinal loops herniation. Although it is usually difficult to diagnose congenital malformations by the ultrasound exam during pregnancy, due to the number and size of the canine fetuses, in this case the exam was successful in detecting fetal omphalocele. It is necessary to increase the records of congenital malformations observed through ultrasound exam in dogs in order to improve the literature review of this issue(AU)
