Resumo
A epífora é uma ocorrência muito comum na clínica de animais de companhia e pode ser caracterizada por um extravasamento da lágrima pela região subocular, causando conjuntivites recorrentes, blefarites, demartites, fístulas e pigmentação do pêlo. Ela pode ser causada por anomalias congênitas ou adquiridas que provoquem, em algum nível, um estreitamento ou obstrução do sistema excretor lacrimal. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo relatar uma técnica de dacriocistorinostomia em cães e os resultados obtidos com ela no tratamento de doze cães com obstrução das vias excretoras da lágrima(AU)Epiphora is a very common occurrence on the companion animals veterinary practice and can be characterized by an overflow of tears on the medial cantus of the eye causing recurrent conjunctivitis, blepharitis, dermatitis, fistulae and hair staining. It can be caused by congenital or acquired anomalies, which promote a stricture or obstruction in any level of the lacrimal excretor apparatus.
