Resumo

Scabies/Sarcoptic Scabies is a disease that affects both dogs, cats and humans, and is then classified as a zoonosis. The main etiological agent was the mite Sarcoptes scabiei in the dog. It is characterized by pruritic cutaneous disorder, and may or may not be associated with alopecia, which usually affects the elbow and ears, and may trigger secondary disorders such as bacterial infections. The diagnosis is basically based on the observation of clinical signs such as dermatological lesions, atrial-foot reflex and observation of the mite on skin scraping, and the latter provides the definitive diagnosis.(AU)
