Resumo
This study aimed to report the occurrence of mammary tumors cases treated at the Veterinary Hospital of Federal University of Piauí (HVU) in Bom Jesus, Piauí. To carry out the work were analyzed the medical records of all patients treated from November 2015 to May 2016. It was observed that the prevalence of cases treated at the HVU were intended for patients of the canine species, representing 79.33% of the cases. In relation to cancer cases, there was a prevalence of mammary tumors totalizing 55.55% of cases. Has been concluded that the occurrence of mammary tumors by contraceptive use is still common in veterinary clinic, being necessary the development of actions to minimize this fact.(AU)
