Resumo

Acute moist dermatitis, green coat disease or still wet double chin is a very common disease in either commercial and domestic rabbits warrens. Its incidence increases substantially during summer, when water ingestion is greater and the rabbits want to stay in the cooler and darker areas of their cages. Other factors that may predispose to the illness development are drinking troughs that are left open, wet ground in the cages, and abnormal teeth occlusion. Median and large breed females are the most susceptible. This paper reports cases of this disease in White New Zealand rabbits from the Rabbit Production Sector of the Animal Husbandry Department, College of Agricultural and Veterinarian Sciences(FCAV), São Paulo State University (Unesp), campus of Jaboticabal, Brazil. KEY-WORDS: Green coat disease. Acute moist dermatitis. Rabbits.
