Resumo

A segment of autologous ovary, collected by standard surgical technique of triple forceps was implanted in the subcutaneous tissue of 11 dogs. The animals were subsequentley evaluate by clinical exam, especially monitoring heat manifestations, and behaviour. Body weight was monitored every trhee months for 12 months. The implanted ovarian tissue was removed by the end of the experiment for histopathological evaluation. There was no significant changes in body weights. All the experimental implanted female dogs presented heat, although without bloody vaginal discharge. All of the animals remained alert and active, with a behaviour similar to the one presented before surgery. It is concluded that this method represents an alternative for canine reproductive control.

Um segmento ovariano autólogo coletado após ovariohisterectomia sob técnica padrão de triplo pinçamento, foi implantado no subcutâneo em 11 cães fêmeas. Os animais foram posteriormente avaliados através do exame clínico, observando a manifestação de estro, atitude comportamental e monitoração do peso corporal trimestralmente durante 12 meses. O tecido ovariano implantado foi removido ao final do experimento para avaliação histopatológica. Não observou-se alteração do peso corporal significativa, sendo que todos os animais manifestaram cio, entretanto sem corrimento sanguinolento e não permitindo a aproximação do macho. Os animais mantiveram-se ativos, apresentando comportamento semelhante ao observado antes da cirurgia, constituíndo assim uma nova alternativa no controle reprodutivo de caninos.
