Dear Editor,Cold-blooded animals can harbor a wide variety of Salmonella serotypes in their intestine (2, 10). In chelonians some species of Salmonella are considered part of the intestinal flora of their hosts, without developing any clinical sign. However, in animals with compromised immune system, salmonellosis (zoonosis) can happen, causing important clinical disease (1, 5, 9).
