Resumo
The authors studied the concentration of elastic and muscular fibers of the thoracic aorta in several mammalian species. They employed the histometric method, making use of the Zeiss Oberkochens integrating eyepiece. The statistical analysis consisted of the F test followed by Duncan"s contrast test. The results suggest the following conclusions: 1 In account the decreasing order of concentration of elastic fibers of the thoracic aorta, the animals may be jointed in groups, as follows: a) Bos indicus, Capra hircus, and Lepus cuniculus b) Canis domesticus, Felis domesticus and Grison furax c) Equus caballus 2 Concerning to the smooth muscular cells, and obeying the same order, the animals may be grouped in the following way: a) Bos indicus, Felis domesticus and Grison furax b) Equus caballus, Capra hircus and Canis domesticus c) Capra hircus and Lepus cuniculus d) Canis domesticus and Lepus cuniculus.O artigo apresenta resumo em inglês.
