Variation in behavior of the free taenia in equine floating colon / Variações no comportamento da tênia livre, do cólon flutuante em eqüideos

Resumo

The A A. studied in 400 equines 200 horses (100 males and 100 females), 154 mules (77 males and 77 females) and 46 asinines (21 males and 25 females) the variations concerning the behavior of the free taenia in the floating colon of these animals. The floating colon free border taenia appeared:1) single at full lenght in the intestinal segment 227 times referring to 149 (74.5% ± 3.1) horses (77 males and 72 females), 70 (45.4% ± 4.0) mules (32 males and 38 females) and 8 (17.4% ± 5.4) asinines (4 males and 4 females);2) with a disposition of the constituent elements showing unusual aspects in 135 cases, 34 (17.0% ± 2.6) horses (15 males and 19 females) 69 (44.9% ± 4.0) mules (37 males and 32 females), and 32 (69.6% ± 6.8) asinincs (24 males and 18 females);3) constituted, in the proximal third, by two formations similar to it, but thinner and parallelly disposed, found in 30 observations related to 13 (6.5% ± 1.7) horses (6 males and 7 females) 11 (7.1% ± 2.1) mules(5 males and 6 females), and 6 (13.0% ± 5.0) asinines (3 males and 3 females);4) finally, with the same disposition above described at the full lenght of the organ in the remaining 8 pieces referring to 4 (2.0% ± 1.0) horses (2 males and 2 females) and 4 (2.6r)i ± 1-3) mules (3 males and 1 female). Sex was not statistically significant concerning = 5% within each group.
