Resumo
O traumatismo cranioencefálico envolve lesão que acomete o sistema nervoso central superior, sendocausado por acidentes automobilísticos, brigas, quedas e violência praticada por humanos. Considerandoas divergências referentes ao encaminhamento de animais com traumatismo crânio encefálico grave acirurgia, o presente trabalho objetivou relatar um caso de craniectomia em um canino com traumatismocraniano grave. O procedimento foi realizado num canino, fêmea, SRD, com três meses de idade e 2 kg demassa corporal, que havia sido mordido por outro cão. O presente relato demonstra que o referido procedimentocirúrgico pode ser eficaz para a descompressão do tecido cerebral e melhora do quadro clínico.(AU)Head injury involves a syndrome that affects the central nervous system superior. It can be caused by caraccidents, fights, falls and violence perpetrated by humans. Considering the discussion about the forwardingof animals with traumatic brain injury surgery, this study aimed to report a case of craniectomy ina dog with this syndrome. The procedure was performed in a three-month-years mongrel female canine,weighting 2 kg, which had been bitten by another dog. This report demonstrates that craniectomy can beeffective for decompression of the brain tissue and clinical improvement.(AU)
