The native oyster Crassostrea gasar has great potential for aquaculture, however the literature on this subject is scarce. The objective of this study was to compare the growth of the native oyster, C. gasar, in two suspended culture systems. The oysters were exposed to six distinct treatments: Suspended long line and a fixed suspended system with five varying depths: Submerged in greater than or equal to 0.9 m tides 0.7 m, 0.5 m, 0.3 m and 0.1 m. The experimental design was completely randomized with three replicates. Each month, 30 oysters from each experimental unit were sampled and the weight (g), height (mm), length (mm) and width (mm) were measured. At the end of seven months the best results throughout cultivation and measurements were obtained in suspended long line treatments and in fixed suspended system submerged in 0.1 m tide, where there was no statistical difference. The averages were, respectively, 16.72 ± 1.7 g and 16.41 ± 0.90 g for weight and 45.96 ± 0.23 mm and 49.78 ± 2.15 mm for length. It is concluded that C. gasar showed better growth when cultured in long line and fixed suspended system with tide levels below 0.1 m
