The evolution of poultry production resulted in a fast-growing broiler chicken, however, there were several difficulties regarding the metabolism and management of these birds. The effect of dietary electrolyte balance (BED) on productive parameters, health and sanity in broiler breeding has been evidenced, however, no studies related to the behavior and expression of genes as a function of BED have been found. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of BED levels on performance, expression of genes related to acid-base balance, nutrient uptake and transport, as well as physiological and behavioral parameters in broilers in the stage from 1 to 21 days under natural cyclic thermal stress. The experiment was carried out in the poultry sector of the Technical College of Bom Jesus - CTBJ, belonging to the Federal University of Piauí, in the municipality of Bom Jesus-PI. 245 male chicks of the Cobb strain were used in the 1 to 21 days age phase. The experimental design was completely randomized with five BED levels (110, 175, 240, 305 and 370 mEq / kg) and 7 replicates of 7 birds each. The following parameters were evaluated: dietary consumption (CR), weight gain (GP), food conversion (CA); behavioral parameters from an etogram based on activity, idleness and agonistic movements; physiological parameters respiratory rate (FR), heart rate (FC) and mean surface temperature (TSM) and analysis of the expression of the ATP1A1, CHP1, SLC1A1, SLC5A1, SLC7A6, SLC7A7, SLC9A1, SLC12A2, SLC24A3 and SLC26A4 genes in the liver, intestine and kidney by real-time RT-qPCR methodology. There was a significant effect (p <0.05) for feed conversion at 7 and 21 days. There was a significant (p <0.05) effect of BED levels on respiratory rate and heart rate. The behaviors "Active", "Eat", and "Breathing Breathing" presented significant difference (p <0.05) as a function of BED. There were differences in expression (p <0.05) for the ATP1A1, CHP1, SLC1A1, SLC5A1, SLC7A6, SLC9A1, SLC12A2, and SLC26A4 genes in the liver; the ATP1A1, SLC7A6, SLC24A3 and SLC26A4 genes in the gut; and ATP1A1, SLC9A1, SLC24A3, and SLC26A4 in the kidney. The BED affects the gene expression and, consequently, the zootechnical performance, physiological and behavioral parameters of broilers from 1 to 21 days, and levels of 110 and 370 mEq / kg are recommended.
