Psittacidae are birds that belong to the family Psittacidae and are represented by macaws, parakeets and parrots. Brazil is considered the richest country in the world in Psittacidae. This work aimed to describe the skeletal anatomy of two macaws (Ara ararauna) and (Ara chloropterus), aiming to contribute to the knowledge about their radiographic anatomy and thus help in the diagnosis of affections in the skeletal system of these animals. Three birds were used, two Ara ararauna and one Ara chloropterus; these were donated after death, motivated by natural cause, by the Military Police of Environmental Protection of Mato Grosso. Full-body radiographs were performed in right and left lateral decubitus, in the case of lateral lateral projections and in dorsal decubitus, for dorsal projection. The skulls of the two species of macaws studied were classified as prokinetic, because they had freedom of movement in their rostral portion. The present work allowed us to record radiographically good quality images, making it possible to visualize structures such as: vertebral column formed by fourteen cervical vertebrae, six free thoracic vertebrae (T1 to T6), six free caudal vertebrae and the pigostilo (three fused caudal vertebrae). From the results, it was possible to verify the existence of small anatomical variations, but it was notorious that the thoracic and pelvic appendicular skeleton of the two species of macaws studied are similar to those observed for other genera of birds such as rooster and parrots.
