The evaluation of the effectiveness of the use of organic acids or blend of acids in pig farming is currently growing, mainly for the performance of piglets in the nursery phase. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of adding a complex of organic acids (blend) and the use of these isolated acids on the performance of piglets in the final phase of day care, with an initial weight of 12 kg and a final weight of 27 kg, in diets prepared from corn and soybean meal as basic ingredients for piglets. They were delineated by blocks at random, with 6 treatments: Treatment 1 (T1), basal ration + 0.3% benzoic acid; treatment 2 (T2), basal ration + 0.4% benzoic acid; treatment 3 (T3), basal ration + 0.1% sodium butyrate; treatment 4 (T4), basal ration + 0.2% sodium butyrate; treatment 5 (T5), only basal ration; and treatment 6 (T6), basal ration + 0.15% sodium butyrate + 0.3% benzoic acid) with 4 repetitions of 10 animals each treatment. 240 piglets of both sexes, crossbred from Landrace X Large White, were used. In each experimental unit, 10 animals of the same weight range were housed, not separated by sex, using a randomized block design. Piglet performance was assessed by means of average daily feed intake (CRMD), average daily weight gain (GPMD), feed conversion (AC). There were no significant differences (P> 0.05) between the treatments evaluated. The use of benzoic acid and sodium butyrate, alone or in the form of a blend in piglet feed, in the day-care phase did not improve feed conversion rates, daily weight gain and feed consumption.
