Aiming to evaluate the critical weed interference periods and the strip width control of surinam grass on rubber plants (RRIM 600 clone), two experiments were conducted at Colina-SP, Brazil, from December, 2008 to December, 2010. The weed interference periods were distributed in two groups at the first year. In the first group, the weed-rubber plant coexistence initiated from the planting to the control periods: 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330 and 360 days and, in the second one, the weed-rubber plant coexistence initiated at 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330 and 360 days after planting (DAP) and finished at the end of the first year. At the beginning of the second year, the weed control started to be among the whole area of the experiment. There were evaluated the stem diameter and height of the plants every month until 360 and 720 DAP. At 360 DAP, there were evaluated de aerial dry mass, the leaf area and the number of leafs. For the weed strip control study, the experimental treatments were divided in two groups. From the treatments 1 to 9 the control strips were kept constantly along the time from 0 to 400 cm, increasing 50 cm at each treatment. From 10 to 14 the strips were variable, increasing every month. There were evaluated the stem diameter and the plants height every month until 360 DAP, when was collected one plant of each repetition and evaluated the aerial dry mass, the leaf area and the leaf number. At the second year, there were evaluated the height and diameter at 420, 480, 540 and 720 DAP. The main weed at the whole area was surinam grass. With the aerial dry mass parameter, the period before the interference (PBI) was 73 days and the total prevent period of interference (PTPI) was 197 days. At 720 DAP, the rubberplants that coexisted with the surinam grass for 360 days still showing height and diameters reductions...
