As equações propostas necessitam de validação e foram as seguintes: machos: MM = 3,51 + 0,03 PC+ 3,0 CP/CT - 0,003 PC/MTD, MG = -4+ 0,7PC+ 3,22CP/CT - 0,005PC/MTD; fêmeas: MM = 0,40 + 0,003PC/MTD + 0,11CC2/R, MG = -0,6D-0,07CC+ 0,9PC+ a,008R e -0,69+0,4PC+ 11,50 ECGS; MO: MM = -0,05+0,4PC+0,08 CC2/R; MG = 1,88+0,5PC+0,007R; M1: MM = 0,20 + 0,03PC + 0,08CC2/R, MG = -2,84+0,6PC+ a,01R e -0,69+0,3PC+ 15,49 ECGS; M2: MM = 2,73 + 0,003 PC - 2,71 CP/CT - 0,004 PC/MTD - 0,05 CC2/R, MG = -3,65- 0,022CC+ 0,7PC+ 4,24CP/CT - 0,006PC/MTD e 3,74+ 0,5PC+ 3,55CP/CT - 0,005PC/MTD+ 8,48 ECGS
The purpose of this study was to assess body composition in cats by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA), evaluate body dimensions by biometry (BIO), establish resistance (R), reactance (Xc) by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and measure subcutaneous fat layer thickness (SFL T) through ultrasonography (US). In addition, was developed predictive fat mass (FM) equation employing a BIO, BIA and US, with OEXA being the reference method. Sixteen adult, neutered and crossed-bred cats that were submitted a 20% of weight loss were used. The exams of OEXA, BIO, BIA and US were realized after anesthesia of the animais in three moments: zero (MO; obese cat), one (M1; body weight (BW) 10% lower than MO) and two (M2; BW 20% lower than MO). Regardless of sex, the cats begun with 5, 13kg of BW, 39,15% of FM, 58,33% of fat free mass (FFM) and wifh 4,08kg, 26,67% of FM 70,41% of FFM in M2. The pelvic (PC) and thoracic (TC) circumferences and SFL T decreased frem MO to M2 (p<0.05). A Pearson correlation was significant between FM and BW, TC, PC and SFL T. the proposed equations need to validation and there were: males: FFM = 3,51 + 0,03 PC+ 3,0 CP/CT - 0,003 PC/MTO, FM = -4+ 0,7PC+ 3,22CP/CT- 0,005PC/MTO; females: FFM = 0,40 + 0,003PC/MTO + 0,11 CC2/R, FM = -0,60-0,07CC+ 0,9PC+ 0,008R and -0,69+0,4PC+ 11,50 ECGS; MO: FFM = -0,05+0,4PC+0,08 CC2/R; FM = -1,88+0,5PC+0,007R; M1: FFM = 0,20 + 0,03PC + 0,08CC2/R, FM = -2,84+0,6PC+ 0,01 R and -0,69+0,3PC+ 15,49 ECGS; M2: FFM = 2,73 + 0,003 PC - 2,71 CP/CT - 0,004 PC/MTO - 0,05 CC2/R, FM = -3,65- 0,022CC+ 0,7PC+ 4,24CP/CT- 0,006PC/MTO and -3,74+ 0,5PC+ 3,55CP/CT0,005PC/MTO+ 8,48 ECGS
