RESUMO

The comparative study of Neisseria strains, isolated from the bronchi and the pharynx of healthy persons and infectious asthma patients, was made. Nonpathogenic Neisseria isolated from bronchial asthma patients were represented by the same species as those in the pharyngeal flora of healthy persons. Only N. perflava occurred in the pharynx and the bronchi of infectious asthma patients twice as often as in healthy persons. Neisseria colonies in the R-form were shown to prevail in the cultures obtained by the inoculation of the smears taken from asthma patients.

RESUMO

A study was made of the possibility of using the test of anaphylactic contraction of the guinea-pig tracheobronchial chain for the appraisal of biological activity of bacterial allergens. The test was noted to be highly specific since it enables the evaluation of allergenicity of specific microbial antigens. Anaphylactic contraction of the tracheobronchial chain is regarded as a model fit for examining the mechanism of a bronchospasm in response to bacterial allergens.

RESUMO

Experiments on guinea-pigs were made to study the anaphylactogenic properties of neisserial allergens incorporated into phospholipid vesicles (liposomes). The anaphylactogenic activity of the liposomal allergens was found to be reduced as shown by the general anaphylactic reaction (anaphylactic shock) seen in the guinea-pigs sensitized with neisserial allergens. The effect under consideration was coupled with intense allergen accumulation by lung tissues of the sensitized guinea-pigs. It is assumed that the reduced anaphylactogenic activity is caused by allergen isolation from lung tissues by phospholipid membranes.
