RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study aimed to establish a nomogram to predict the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE), identifying potential risk factors, and providing theoretical basis for prevention of VTE after spinal surgery. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 2754 patients who underwent spinal surgery. The general characteristics of the training group were initially screened using univariate logistic analysis, and the LASSO method was used for optimal prediction. Subsequently, multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to identify independent risk factors for postoperative VTE in the training group, and a nomogram for predict risk of VTE was established. The discrimination, calibration, and clinical usefulness of the nomogram were separately evaluated using the C-index, receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration plot and clinical decision curve, and was validated using data from the validation group finally. RESULTS: Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified 10 independent risk factors for VTE after spinal surgery. A nomogram was established based on these independent risk factors. The C-index for the training and validation groups indicating high accuracy and stability of the model. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve indicating excellent discrimination ability; the calibration curves showed outstanding calibration for both the training and validation groups. Decision curve analysis showed the clinical net benefit of using the nomogram could be maximized in the probability threshold range of 0.01-1. CONCLUSION: Patients undergoing spinal surgery with elevated D-dimer levels, prolonger surgical, and cervical surgery have higher risk of VTE. The nomogram can provide a theoretical basis for clinicians to prevent VTE.

RESUMO

The diatom test has been used by forensic pathologist as standard for drowning, but the occurrence of false-positive results (presence of diatoms found in the tissues of subjects who died from causes other than drowning) draws criticism regarding the specificity of the test. Diatoms within food or water can be ingested through the gastrointestinal tract. However, the mechanisms of how the diatoms reach distant organs such as the lung, liver, and kidney have not been studied. In this article, we simulated the process of diatoms entering the gastrointestinal tract using gastric lavage on experimental rabbits. Diatoms are detected in lymph from a lymphatic vessel at the root of the mesentery, portal vein blood, aortic blood, lung, liver, and kidney samples in the gavage group. Of diatoms, 76.24% were the centric diatom, 99.86% of diatoms have a maximum size of less than 50 µm, and most of diatoms concentrate in the lung. Our study provided the evidence supporting the theory that the diatoms could pass through the gastrointestinal barrier and reach the rabbits' other internal organs. The diatoms could reach internal organs through the portal vein and lymphatic vessel at the root of the mesentery. This provides us new insight into our understanding of false-positive diatom test in forensic pathology.

RESUMO

Diatom test has been widely used in the diagnosis of drowning and inferring the drowning site. One of the issues is whether the concordance of the diatom types and patterns between the drowning victim's organs and media should be considered an essential requirement for the diagnosis of drowning. In this study, lung tissues from 20 rabbits and drowning media were studied by the Microwave Digestion-Vacuum Filtration-Automated Scanning Electron Microscopy method, and four methods, type consistency, coefficient of similarity, squared-chord distance, and cluster analysis, were introduced to analyze the diatom types and patterns for evaluating the value of diatom consistency in drowning cases. The results showed that diatom types and patterns in lung tissues do not perfectly match the drowning medium, and they are sometimes concordant with the drowning medium sampled from other than drowning site. We should be cautious when using diatom detection to infer drowning sites.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To explore the application values of diatom artificial intelligence (AI) search system in the diagnosis of drowning. METHODS: The liver and kidney tissues of 12 drowned corpses were taken and were performed with the diatom test, the view images were obtained by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Diatom detection and forensic expert manual identification were carried out under the thresholds of 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9 of the diatom AI search system, respectively. Diatom recall rate, precision rate and image exclusion rate were used to detect and compare the efficiency of diatom AI search system. RESULTS: There was no statistical difference between the number of diatoms detected in the target marked by the diatom AI search system and the number of diatoms identified manually (P>0.05); the recall rates of the diatom AI search system were statistically different under different thresholds (P<0.05); the precision rates of the diatom AI system were statistically different under different thresholds(P<0.05), and the highest precision rate was 53.15%; the image exclusion rates of the diatom AI search system were statistically different under different thresholds (P<0.05), and the highest image exclusion rate was 99.72%. For the same sample, the time taken by the diatom AI search system to identify diatoms was only 1/7 of that of manual identification. CONCLUSIONS: Diatom AI search system has a good application prospect in drowning cases. Its automatic diatom search ability is equal to that of experienced forensic experts, and it can greatly reduce the workload of manual observation of images.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study whether diatoms can enter the body through the lymphatic system of the digestive tract. METHODS: Twenty experimental rabbits were divided into the test group and the control group randomly, and intragastric administration was performed with 20 mL water sample from the Pearl River and 20 mL ultrapure water, respectively. After 30 min, lymph, lungs, livers and kidneys were extracted for the diatom test. The concentration, size and type of diatoms were recorded. RESULTS: The concentration of diatoms of the test group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). In the test group, Stephanodiscus, Coscinodiscus, Cyclotella, Melosira, Nitzschia, Synedra, Cymbella, and Navicula were detected; in the control group, Stephanodiscus, Coscinodiscus and Cyclotella were detected. The long diameter and the short diameter of diatoms of the test group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). In the test group, 1-2 diatoms were detected in 3 lung samples and 2 liver samples, which were Stephanodiscus or Cyclotella, and no diatoms were detected in the kidney samples; in the control group, 1-2 diatoms were detected in 2 lung samples and 3 liver samples, which were Stephanodiscus or Coscinodiscus, and no diatoms were detected in the kidney samples. CONCLUSIONS: Diatoms can enter the body through the lymphatic fluid, which is one of the reasons for the presence of diatoms in tissues and organs of non-drowning cadavers.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the effects of temperature and time for diatoms digestion and find out suitable digestive temperature and time. METHODS: Eighty pieces of liver tissues were collected, each piece of tissue was 2 g, and 2 mL Pearl River water was added to each piece of tissue. The digestion temperature was set at 100 ℃, 120 ℃, 140 ℃, 160 ℃, 180 ℃ and the digestion time was set at 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 min. The liver tissue and water mixture were divided into 8 portions in each group. All the samples were tested by microwave digestive - vacuum filtration - automated scanning electron microscopy method. The quantity of diatom recovered and the quality of residue on the membrane were recorded. RESULTS: When the digestion time was set to 60 min, there were statistically significant differences in the number of diatoms recovered at different temperatures (P<0.05). The maximum number of diatoms recovered was (28 797.50±6 009.67) at 140 ℃, and the minimum residue was (0.60±0.28) mg at 180 ℃. When the digestion temperature was set at 140 ℃, there were statistically significant differences in the number of diatoms recovered at different digestion times (P<0.05). The number of diatoms recovered was the highest at 40 min, it was up to (20 650.88±1 950.29), and the residue quality of each group had no statistical significance among different digestion time groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The effect of diatom digestion is related to temperature and time. When the digestion temperature was 140 ℃ and the digestion time was 40, 50 and 60 min, it is favorable for diatom test.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To retrospectively analyze diatom test cases of corpses in water and discuss the value of quantitative analysis of diatoms in the diagnosis of drowning. METHODS: A total of 490 cases of water-related death were collected. They were divided into drowning group and postmortem immersion group according to the cause of death. Diatoms in lung, liver, kidney tissue and water sample were analyzed quantitatively by microwave digestion-vacuum filtration-automated scanning electron microscopy (MD-VF-Auto SEM) method. The ratios of content of diatoms in lung tissue and water sample (CL/CD) were calculated. RESULTS: The results of diatom test for three organs (lung, liver and kidney) were all positive in 400 cases (85.5%); the content of diatom in lung, liver, kidney tissues, and water samples of drowning group were (113 235.9±317 868.1), (26.7±75.6), (23.3±52.2) and (12 113.3±21 760.0) cells/10 g, respectively; the species of diatom were (7.5±2.8), (2.6±1.9), (2.9±2.1) and (8.9±3.0) types, respectively; the CL/CD of drowning group and postmortem immersion group were (100.6±830.7) and (0.3±0.4), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Quantitative analysis of diatoms can provide supportive evidence for the diagnosis of drowning, and the parameter CL/CD can be introduced into the analysis to make a more accurate diagnosis of drowning.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To compare the application effect of microwave digestion - vacuum filtration - automated scanning electron microscopy (MD-VF-Auto SEM) method and plankton gene multiplex PCR system in the diagnosis of drowning. METHODS: Lung, liver and kidney tissue of 10 non-drowning cases and 50 drowning cases were prepared for further MD-VF-Auto SEM method analysis and plankton gene multiplex PCR system analysis. The positive detection rate of the two methods in each tissue was calculated. RESULTS: The positive rate of the MD-VF-Auto SEM method detecting diatoms in drowning cases was 100%, and few diatoms were detected in the liver and kidney tissues of 6 non-drowning cases. By using the plankton gene multiplex PCR system, the diatom positive rate of drowning cases was 84%, and all the non-drowning cases were negative. There were significant differences in the positive rate of the liver, kidney tissues between MD-VF-Auto SEM method and plankton gene multiplex PCR system (P<0.05), as well as the total positive rate of cases. However, no significant differences were found in the positive rates of lung tissues (P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: MD-VF-Auto SEM method is more sensitive than plankton gene multiplex PCR system in diatom test. But the plankton gene multiplex PCR system can also detect plankton other than diatoms. Combination of the two methods can provide a more reliable basis for the diagnosis of drowning.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Autophagy-related genes (ARGs) have been confirmed to have an important role in tumorigenesis and tumor microenvironment formation. Nevertheless, a systematic analysis of ARGs and their clinical significance in sarcoma patients is lacking. METHODS: Gene expression files from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) were used to select differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Differentially expressed ARGs (DEARGs) were determined by matching the DEG and HADb gene sets, which were evaluated by functional enrichment analysis. Unsupervised clustering of the identified DEARGs was conducted, and associations with tumor microenvironment (TME), immune checkpoints, and immune cells were analyzed simultaneously. Two prognostic signatures, one for overall survival (OS) and one for disease-free survival (DFS), were established and validated in an independent set. RESULTS: In total, 84 DEARGs and two clusters were identified. TME scores, five immune checkpoints, and several types of immune cells were found to be significantly different between two clusters. Two prognostic signatures incorporating DEARGs showed favorable discrimination and were successfully validated. Two nomograms combining signature and clinical variables were generated. The C-indexes were 0.818 and 0.747 for the OS and DFS nomograms, respectively. CONCLUSION: This comprehensive analyses of the ARG landscape in sarcoma showed novel ARGs related to carcinogenesis and the immune microenvironment. These findings have implications for prognosis and therapeutic responses, which reveal novel potential prognostic biomarkers, promote precision medicine, and provide potential novel targets for immunotherapy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Atlantoaxial subluxation (AAS) is a not rare abnormality between the atlas (C1) and axis (C2). For AAS patients with persistent neck pain and neurologic symptoms, surgical intervention is a good choice. Nevertheless, there were still few reports about the use of intraoperative skull traction and different fixation methods in treatment of AAS. METHODS: From January 2012 to December 2018, a total of 86 cases were admitted to our hospital and diagnosed as AAS. All the patients received atlantoaxial reduction with the help of intraoperative skull traction and C1-C2 fixation. Clinical and radiological parameters were collected through chart review. RESULTS: There were 86 cases included in this study. The mean operative time was 153.9 ± 73.9 min, and the mean amount of intraoperative blood loss was 219.1 ± 195.6 ml. 81 patients underwent posterior reduction, internal fixation and fusion. 5 patients underwent anterior release, followed by posterior internal fixation and fusion. 82 patients got satisfactory postoperative outcomes while complications occurred in 4 patients. Significant neurologic improvement was observed in these patients. Bone fusion was achieved on the midline sagittal reconstructed CT images at the latest follow-up in all these patients except 1 case. All the patients were followed up for 34.84 ± 15.86 months at average (range 12-60 months). The mean ADI value was 7.55 ± 1.67 mm at average preoperatively, and improved to 4.03 ± 1.21 mm postoperatively, and to 4.21 ± 0.99 mm at the latest follow-up. The mean A-A angle was 15.48 ± 9.82 degrees at average preoperatively, and improved to 21.61 ± 10.43 degrees postoperatively, and to 19.73 ± 8.13 degrees at the latest follow-up. The mean A-A height was 35.61 ± 7.66 mm at average preoperatively, and improved to 40.08 ± 8.5 mm postoperatively, and to 38.83 ± 6.97 mm at the latest follow-up. There were complications in 4 patients, including pedicle misplacement, pedicle screw fracture, infection and one death. CONCLUSION: Intraoperative skull traction can effectively facilitate the surgical procedures for ASS caused by different etiologies. Further research will be needed to investigate the safety and effectiveness of this method in the future.

RESUMO

Dimethyl sulfoxide (Me 2SO) supplemented with fetal bovine serum (FBS) is a widely used cryoprotectant combination. However, high concentration of Me 2SO is toxic to cells, and FBS presents problems related to diseases such as bovine spongiform encephalopathy and viral infections. Silk protein is a kind of natural macromolecule fiber protein with good biocompatibility and hydrophilicity. The aim of this paper is to analyze the cryoprotective mechanism of silk protein as cryoprotectant. Firstly, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to measure the thermal hysteresis activity (THA) of silk protein. The THA of 10 mg/mL sericin protein was 0.96°C, and the THA of 10% (V/V) fibroin protein was 1.15°C. Then the ice recrystallization inhibition (IRI) of silk protein-PBS solution was observed with cryomicroscope. The cold stage was set at - 7°C, after 40 minutes' incubation, the mean grain size rate (MGSR) of sericin protein and fibroin protein were 28.99% and 3.18%, respectively, which were calculated relative to phosphate buffer saline (PBS) control. It is indicated that sericin and silk fibroin have certain effects of inhibiting recrystallization of ice crystals. Finally, the structure and physicochemical properties of silk protein were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results showed that the content of the random coil was 75.62% and the ß-sheet structure was 24.38% in the secondary of sericin protein. The content of the ß-sheet structure was 56.68%, followed by random coil structure 22.38%, and α-helix 16.84% in the secondary of fibroin protein. The above analysis demonstrates the feasibility of silk fibroin as a cryoprotectant, and provides a new idea for the selection of cryoprotectants in the future.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Some aspects of the neighborhood built environment may influence residents' physical activity, which in turn, affects their health. This study aimed to develop an urban built environment evaluation tool and conduct necessary reliability and validity tests. METHODS: A 41-item urban built environment scan tool was developed to objectively assess the neighborhood built environment features related to physical activity. Six neighborhoods in Hangzhou were selected from three types of administrative planning units. A pair of auditors independently assessed all of the 205 street segments at the same time. Half of the segments (n = 104) were audited twice by the same auditor after a two-week time interval. Inter-rater reliability was assessed by comparing the audits of paired observers, while intra-rater reliability was evaluated by comparing an auditor's repeated assessments of the same segments. The construct validity was tested using factor analysis. RESULTS: The inter-rater reliability for most items was above 0.8. The intra-rater reliability for most items was above 0.4, and was lower than corresponding inter-rater reliability. Six factors were extracted by factor analysis and the factor loading matrix showed good construct validity. CONCLUSIONS: The CUBEST is a reliable and valid instrument that can be used to assess the physical activity-related built environment in Hangzhou, and potentially other cities in China.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to compare the efficacy of intra-articular prolotherapy (IG) combined with peri-articular perineural injection (PG) in the management of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). METHODS: A total of 60 patients with the diagnosis of KOA were included in this double-blinded randomized controlled clinical trials. The inclusion criteria were as follow: (1) 48-80 years old; (2) the diagnose of KOA; (3) the grade 2 and 3 of the Kellgern-Lawrence grading scale; (4) the pain, crepitation, and knee joint stiffness continuing for 3 months at least. The main exclusion criteria were as follow: (1) any infection involving the knee skin; (2) history of any Influencing factors of disease. All patients were divided into three groups and received either IG, PG and I + PG under the ultrasound guidance and the 2, 4 and 8 weeks follow-up data of patients were available. (IG n = 20 or PG n = 20, I + PG n = 20). Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), The Western Ontario McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and the pressure pain threshold (PPT) were used as outcome measures at baseline, 2, 4 and 8 weeks. RESULTS: There were no statistically significant differences in terms of age, sex, BMI, duration of current condition and baseline assessments of pain intensity, WOMAC scores and PPT. After treatment, the improvement of VAS activity, WOMAC and PPT values was showed compared with pre-treatment in all groups (p < 0.05). At 4 and 8 weeks after treatment, the VAS and WOMAC scores of the I + PG were significantly lower than those of the PG or IG, and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). The PPT values of PG and I + PG were significantly improved compared to IG at 2, 4, and 8 weeks after treatment. CONCLUSION: The ultrasound guided I + PG of 5% glucose seem to be more effective to alleviate pain and improve knee joint function than single therapy in short term. Clinical rehabilitators could clinically try this combination of I + PG to improve clinical symptoms in patients with KOA.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the biomechanical properties of the retropharyngeal reduction plate by comparing the traditional posterior pedicle screw-rod fixation by finite element analysis. Methods: Two three-dimensional finite element digital models of the retropharyngeal reduction plate and posterior pedicle screw-rod fixation were constructed and validated based on the DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) data from C1 to C4. The biomechanical finite element analysis values of two internal fixations were measured and calculated under different conditions, including flexion, extension, bending, and rotation. Results: In addition to the backward extension, there was no significant difference in the maximum von Mises stress between the retropharyngeal reduction plate and posterior pedicle screw fixation under other movement conditions. The retropharyngeal reduction plate has a more uniform distribution under different conditions, such as flexion, extension, bending, and rotation. The stress tolerance of the two internal fixations was basically consistent in flexion, extension, left bending, and right bending. Conclusion: The retropharyngeal reduction plate has a relatively good biomechanical stability without obvious stress concentration under different movement conditions. It shows potential as a fixation option for the treatment of atlantoaxial dislocation.

RESUMO

STUDY DESIGN: Finite element analysis. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the biomechanical effect of four posterior fixation tcehniques on stability and adjacent segment degeneration in treating thoracolumbar burst fractures with osteoporosis. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: In terms of stability and adjacent segment degeneration, there remains no consensus or guidelines on the optimal technique for the treatment of thoracolumbar burst fractures in patients with osteoporosis. METHODS: Images of CT scans were imported into MIMICS and further processed by Geomagic to build 3-dimensional models of the T10-L5 region. A v-shaped osteotomy was performed on the L1 vertebral body to simulate a burst fracture in the setting of osteoporosis. Subsequently, four fixation techniques were designed using SolidWorks software. Range of motion (ROM) of the global spine, ROM distribution, ROM of adjacent segment, Von Mises stress on adjacent intervertebral discs and facet joints were analyzed. RESULTS: Among the four groups, the cortical bone screw fixation (CBT) showed the highest global ROM at 1.86°, while long-segmented pedicle screw fixation (LSPS) had the lowest global ROM at 1.25°. The LSPS had the smallest percentage of ROM of fractured vertebral body to fixed segment at 75.04%, suggesting the highest stability after fixation. The maximum ROM of the adjacent segment was observed in the CBT at 1.32°, while the LSPS exhibited the smallest at 0.89°. However, the LSPS group experienced larger maximum stress on the adjacent intervertebral discs (9.60MPa) and facet joints (3.36MPa), indicating an increasing risk of adjacent segment disease. CONCLUSION: LSPS provided the greatest stability, while CBT provided the smallest amount of stability. However, the elevated stress on adjacent intervertebral discs and facet joints after LSPS fixation increased the possibility of adjacent segment degeneration. Cement-augmented pedicle screw fixation (CAS) and combined cortical bone screw and pedicle screw fixation (CBT-PS) demonstrated significant biomechanical advantages in providing moderate fixation strength while reducing stress on the intervertebral discs and facet joints.

RESUMO

Background: Disc degeneration is associated with repetitive violent injuries. This study aims to explore the impact of repetitive strikes loading on the biology and biomechanics of intervertebral discs (IVDs) using an organ culture model. Methods: IVDs from the bovine tail were isolated and cultured in a bioreactor, with exposure to various loading conditions. The control group was subjected to physiological loading, while the model group was exposed to either one strike loading (compression at 38% of IVD height) or repetitive one strike loading (compression at 38% of IVD height). Disc height and dynamic compressive stiffness were measured after overnight swelling and loading. Furthermore, histological morphology, cell viability, and gene expression were analyzed on Day 32. Glycosaminoglycan (GAG) and nitric oxide (NO) release in conditioned medium were also analyzed. Results: The repetitive one strike group exhibited early disc degeneration, characterized by decreased dynamic compression stiffness, the presence of annulus fibrosus clefts, and degradation of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, this group demonstrated significantly higher levels of cell death (p < 0.05) and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) release (p < 0.05) compared to the control group. Furthermore, upregulation of MMP1, MMP13, and ADAMTS5 was observed in both nucleus pulposus (NP) and annulus fibrosus (AF) tissues of the repetitive one strike group (p < 0.05). The one strike group exhibited annulus fibrosus clefts but showed no gene expression changes compared to the control group. Conclusions: This study shows that repetitive violent injuries lead to the degeneration of a healthy bovine IVDs, thereby providing new insights into early-stage disc degeneration.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the biomechanical characteristics of different posterior fixation techniques in treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar burst fractures by finite element analysis. Methods: The Dicom format images of T10-L5 segments were obtained from CT scanning of a volunteer, and transferred to the Geomagic Studio software, which was used to build digital models. L1 osteoporotic burst fracture and different posterior fixation techniques were simulated by SolidWorks software. The data of ROM, the maximum displacement of fixed segment, ROM of fractured L1 vertebrae, the stress on the screws and rods as well as on fractured L1 vertebrae under different movement conditions were collected and analysed by finite element analysis. Results: Among the four groups, the largest ROM of fixed segment, the maximum displacement of fixed segment and ROM of fractured vertebrae occurred in CBT, and the corresponding data was 1.3°, 2.57 mm and 1.37°, respectively. While the smallest ROM of fixed segment, the maximum displacement of fixed segment and ROM of fractured vertebrae was found in LSPS, and the corresponding data was 0.92°, 2.46 mm and 0.89°, respectively. The largest stress of screws was 390.97 Mpa, appeared in CBT, and the largest stress of rods was 84.68 MPa, appeared in LSPS. The stress concentrated at the junction area between the root screws and rods. The maximum stress on fractured vertebrae was 93.25 MPa, appeared in CBT and the minimum stress was 56.68 MPa, appeared in CAPS. And the stress of fractured vertebrae concentrated in the middle and posterior column of the fixed segment, especially in the posterior edge of the superior endplate. Conclusion: In this study, long-segment posterior fixation (LSPF) provided with the greatest stability of fixed segment after fixation, while cortical bone screw fixation (CBT) provided with the smallest stability. Cement-augmented pedicle screw-rod fixation (CAPS) and combined using cortical bone screw and pedicle screw fixation (CBT-PS) provided with the moderate stability. CBT-PS exhibited superiority in resistance of rotational torsion for using multiple connecting rods. CAPS and CBT-PS maybe biomechanically superior options for the surgical treatment of burst TL fractures in osteoporotic patients.

RESUMO

Differentiating antemortem injury from postmortem injury of decayed cadavers is one of the difficult issues in forensic science. Forensic pathologists identify antemortem injury according to the macroscopic and microscopic vital reactions taken place after being injured. However, the decomposition would render those vital reactions ineffective. Microbiomes have been widely used in forensic science due to their succession with time and sensitivity to vary of environment. In this study, microbiomes were introduced to determine whether the bacterial communities can be used to distinguish between the ante- and postmortem injuries through an animal experiment. Our findings showed that the differences of bacterial community were increasingly apparent from the 6th to 9th day after the wound created when the types of wounds were unidentified by morphological examination due to decomposition. The biomarkers at the genus level could effectively distinguish between injury types, Among them, Enterococcus and Enterobacter were only observed in the antemortem injured group, while Staphylococcus and Acinetobacter were only in the postmortem injured group. It is possible to tell whether cadaveric injuries developed before or after death by detecting differences in the bacterial communities of putrefying wounds. This study provides a new perspective for the differences between ante- and postmortem injuries and provides a promising method for us to identify the ante- and postmortem wounds, especially in decomposed cadavers.
