RESUMO
The authors adduce a brief description of the features and outcomes of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in 8 pregnant women. The results of the examination of a 54-year-old woman and her son, who suffered from a severe form of HERS 28 years ago during the 31st week of pregnancy, are presented in detail. Antibodies to Hantaan virus 1:32 were found; magnetic resonance tomography of the skull revealed sequelae of hypophysial hemorrhage with the formation of "partly empty ephippium". The antibodies were not found in the son; hydrocephalus, forehead cortex atrophy, and lateral ventricular asymmetry were revealed.

The authors describe two lethal outcomes of severe hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome in spouses aged 50 and 44. A detailed description of clinical symptoms, the results of laboratory and instrumental tests, and possible mechanisms of contamination is given. Cross-sectional photographs of kidneys and hypophyseal hemorrhage, as well as radiograms of renal arteries and right pulmonary blood vessels after post-mortem filling with radiopaque mass are presented.

Data on morphology of the kidneys in hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome (HFRS) are discussed. In the kidneys of 10 decreased patients (with time period from the onset of the disease till death 4--13 days), in whom the disease proceeded with azotemia and oligo-anuria, there were observed oligemia of the glomeruli with secondary changes in the cellular elements, dystrophic changes in the tubules, these changes being particularly pronounced in the proximal segment, and being accompanied by nephrohydrosis; beginning with the 4--6th day signs of regeneration, edema in the walls of vessels and swelling of a hypoxic character were noted. A distinguishing feature of HFRS was a drastic plethora of the jextamedullar zone with hemorrhages due to venous congestion. The changes in the kidneys observed in HFRS were similar to morphological changes in acute renal insufficiency (ARI) of the type of "shock kidney". A characteristic feature of API in HFRS was a high degree of sequestration of the blood flow in the medullar layer.

To carry out serodiagnosis and to determine the serotype of the virus causing hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome (HFRS), paired sera obtained from 28 HFRS patients, 42 persons with a history of HFRS (1-17 years after convalescence), and 268 serum samples from healthy persons residing at the areas with the natural foci of this infection have been studied by indirect immunofluorescence techniques at the territory of the Amur Province. This study has demonstrated for the first time that, alongside the diseases caused by HFRS virus of serotype Apodemus, HFRS viruses of serotype Rattus and an unidentified serotype serve as the source of infection for the population of the Amur region. The leading role of serotype Rattus in HFRS has been confirmed by the detection of antibodies mainly to this serotype in serum samples taken from convalescents after HFRS and from the healthy population of the areas with the foci of HFRS virus infection.

Peculiarities of lesions of the cardiovascular system were studied in 332 patients with a grave course of hemorrhagic fever with the renal syndrome. Deep cardiovascular disorders manifesting themselves in low or high arterial pressure, ECG changes, hemodynamic disorders in the greater and lesser circulation, disorder of the morphological structure of the myocardium and small vessel walls were revealed.

Results of studies of clonorchiasis in the region of the Upper Amur and its tributaries are presented. Biological features of the pathogen and its epidemiology are outlined. Clinical symptoms were studied in 112 patients. In case of death, a pathoanatomic picture is given.
