RESUMO

The genus Mangrovomyia Grichanov et Gilasian gen. nov. is described from Iran, including two new species, M. naserzadehae Grichanov et Gilasian sp. nov. and M. mofidii Grichanov et Gilasian sp. nov. The new genus is believed to be most closely related to the genera Hydrophorus Fallén, Epithalassius Mik and Paraliptus Bezzi in the subfamily Hydrophorinae, differing in peculiar characters of body setation, antenna, wing and male genitalia. The most distinct synapomorphies appear to be the very short and thick arista-like stylus; trapezoidal postpedicel with oblique transverse furrow; frons, face and clypeus covered with numerous setae, and anterior half of mesonotum covered with a field of numerous short setae and devoid of strong bristles. Mangrovomyia mofidii sp. nov. differs from M. naserzadehae sp. nov. in femora yellow (vs. black), fore tibia with thick and golden-brown (vs. thin and black) apical spine-like setae, katepisternum entirely covered with numerous setae (vs. without setae), and other features. Mangrove habitats of the new species are briefly discussed.

RESUMO

Descriptions of five new Afrotropical species of the genus Condylostylus Bigot are provided: C. comorensis sp. nov. from Comoros, C. friedmani sp. nov. from Madagascar, C. gavryushini sp. nov. from Tanzania, C. kaplini sp. nov. from South Africa, and C. madagascarensis sp. nov. from Madagascar. The new species differ from other representatives of the genus in morphology of the male cercus and male secondary sexual characters of the legs. A revised identification key to males of the 25 known species of Afrotropical Condylostylus is provided. Condylostylus congensis Curran, 1927 syn. nov. is newly synonymized with C. beckeri Speiser, 1920.

RESUMO

Four new species of Sympycnus Loew, 1857, S. ferganicus sp. nov., S. leleji sp. nov., S. stackelbergi sp. nov. and S. yakutensis sp. nov. from Russia (Yakutia), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are described. Sympycnus convergens Negrobov, 1973 and S. urgaicus Negrobov, 1973 are placed in synonymy with S. changaicus Negrobov (syn. nov.). Lectotype and paralectotypes are designated for Sympycnus simplicipes Becker, 1908. A checklist of the East Palaearctic species of the genus is compiled and a key to males of the 14 species is provided. Five species groups are defined. New data on the distribution of known species are presented. The known distribution of East Palaearctic Sympycnus species is briefly discussed.

RESUMO

Two new species, Cryptophleps namibica sp. nov., from Namibia and C. buttikeri sp. nov., from Saudi Arabia are described. The following new combinations are proposed: Cryptophleps izia (Negrobov, 1973) (Asyndetus), comb. nov. (Central Asia), Cryptophleps minuta (Negrobov & Shamshev, 1986) (Asyndetus), comb. nov. (Far Eastern Asia) and Cryptophleps vivida (Negrobov & Shamshev, 1986) (Asyndetus), comb. nov. (Far Eastern Asia). The systematic positions of species of Cryptophleps are discussed. An identification key to Afrotropical and Palaearctic species is provided.

RESUMO

The Hercostomus plagiatus species group is defined and distinguished from other Hercostomus groups by the following combination of features including: bulging clypeus in both sexes, anterodorsal comb-like row of setae on fore tibia, usually straight and weakly convergent veins R4+5 and M1+2, hypopygium without basiventral epandrial lobes, mostly free hypandrium, relatively poorly developed postgonite, and female terminalia with tergite 8 and sternite 8 fused anterolaterally forming a narrow process. A new species, Hercostomus golanensis sp. nov., is described from the Middle East (Golan Heights), differing from the other species of this group in the long-pubescent arista-like stylus, triangular rather than oval male cercus and epandrial lobe bearing a very long seta at the base of the stem. A key to species of the H. plagiatus group is provided.

RESUMO

A new species, Sybistroma occidasiatica sp. nov., from the Middle East is described. It is close to S. inornata (Loew, 1857), but is distinguished by its long arista-like antennal stylus (longer than postpedicel) and short apicoventral epandrial lobe of the hypopygium (much shorter than cercus). The new species is peculiar in comprising two phenotypes, which can be distinguished by the length ratio of 1st and 2nd articles of the antennal stylus. The following recombination is also proposed: Sybistroma caudata (Loew, 1859), comb. nov. (transferred from Gymnopternus Loew, 1857). A checklist of the 26 West-Palaearctic species of the genus is compiled, as well as a key based mainly on male secondary sexual characters. The known distribution of Sybistroma Meigen, 1824, is discussed.
