RESUMO

Recently, the emergence of transverse orbital angular momentum (OAM) as a novel characteristic of light has captured substantial attention, and the significance of adjustable OAM orientation has been underscored due to its pivotal role in the interaction between light and matter. In this work, we introduce a novel approach to manipulate the orientation of photonic OAM at subwavelength scales, leveraging spatiotemporal coupling. By tightly focusing a wavepacket containing dual spatiotemporal vortices and a spatial vortex through a high numerical aperture lens, the emergence of intricate coupling phenomena leads to entangled and intricately twisted vortex tunnels. As a consequence, the orientation of spatial OAM deviates from the conventional light axis. Through theoretical scrutiny, we unveil that the orientation of photonic OAM within the focal field is contingent upon the signs of the topological charges in both spatiotemporal and spatial domains. Additionally, the absolute values of these charges govern the precise orientation of OAM within their respective quadrants. Moreover, augmenting the pulse width of the incident light engenders a more pronounced deflection angle of photonic OAM. By astutely manipulating these physical parameters, unparalleled control over the spatial orientation of OAM becomes achievable. The augmented optical degrees of freedom introduced by this study hold considerable potential across diverse domains, including optical tweezers, spin-orbit angular momentum coupling, and quantum communication.

We fabricate and characterize a hybrid quantum device that consists of five gate-defined double quantum dots (DQDs) and a high-impedance NbTiN transmission resonator. The controllable interactions between DQDs and the resonator are spectroscopically explored by measuring the microwave transmission through the resonator in the detuning parameter space. Utilizing the high tunability of the system parameters and the high cooperativity (Ctotal > 17.6) interaction between the qubit ensemble and the resonator, we tune the charge-photon coupling and observe the collective microwave response changing from linear to nonlinear. Our results present the maximum number of DQDs coupled to a resonator and manifest a potential platform for scaling up qubits and studying collective quantum effects in semiconductor-superconductor hybrid cavity quantum electrodynamics systems.

BACKGROUND: Chestnut blight, one of the most serious branch diseases in Castanea caused by Cryphonectria parasitica, which has ravaged across American chestnut and most of European chestnut since the early twentieth century. Interestingly, the Chinese chestnut is strongly resistant to chestnut blight, shedding light on restoring the ecological status of Castanea plants severely affected by chestnut blight. To better explore the early defense of Chinese chestnut elicited in response to C. parasitica, the early stage of infection process of C. parasitica was observed and RNA sequencing-based transcriptomic profiling of responses of the chestnut blight-resistant wild resource 'HBY-1' at 0, 3 and 9 h after C. parasitica inoculation was performed. RESULTS: First, we found that 9 h was a critical period for Chinese chestnut infected by C. parasitica, which was the basis of further study on transcriptional activation of Chinese chestnut in response to chestnut blight in the early stage. In the transcriptome analysis, a total of 283 differentially expressed genes were identified between T9 h and Mock9 h, and these DEGs were mainly divided into two clusters, one of which was metabolism-related pathways including biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, amino sugar and nucleotide sugar metabolism, and photosynthesis; the other was related to plant-pathogen interaction and MAPK signal transduction. Meanwhile, the two clusters of pathways could be connected through junction among phosphatidylinositol signaling system, phytohormone signaling pathway and α-Linolenic acid metabolism pathway. It is worth noting that genes associated with JA biosynthesis and metabolic pathway were significantly up-regulated, revealing that the entire JA metabolic pathway was activated in Chinese chestnut at the early stage of chestnut blight infection. CONCLUSION: We identified the important infection nodes of C. parasitica and observed the morphological changes of Chinese chestnut wounds at the early stage of infection. In response to chestnut blight, the plant hormone and MAPK signal transduction pathways, plant-pathogen interaction pathways and metabolism-related pathways were activated at the early stage. JA biosynthesis and metabolic pathway may be particularly involved in the Chinese chestnut resistance to chestnut blight. These results contributes to verifying the key genes involved in the resistance of Chinese chestnut to C. parasitica.

The regulatory mechanisms that link WRKY gene expression to fruit ripening are largely unknown. Using transgenic approaches, we showed that a WRKY gene from wild strawberry (Fragaria vesca), FvWRKY48, may be involved in fruit softening and ripening. We showed that FvWRKY48 is localized to the nucleus and that degradation of the pectin cell wall polymer homogalacturonan, which is present in the middle lamella and tricellular junction zones of the fruit, was greater in FvWRKY48-OE (overexpressing) fruits than in empty vector (EV)-transformed fruits and less substantial in FvWRKY48-RNAi (RNA interference) fruits. Transcriptomic analysis indicated that the expression of pectate lyase A (FvPLA) was significantly downregulated in the FvWRKY48-RNAi receptacle. We determined that FvWRKY48 bound to the FvPLA promoter via a W-box element through yeast one-hybrid, electrophoretic mobility shift, and chromatin immunoprecipitation quantitative polymerase chain reaction experiments, and ß-glucosidase activity assays suggested that this binding promotes pectate lyase activity. In addition, softening and pectin degradation were more intense in FvPLA-OE fruit than in EV fruit, and the middle lamella and tricellular junction zones were denser in FvPLA-RNAi fruit than in EV fruit. We speculated that FvWRKY48 maybe increase the expression of FvPLA, resulting in pectin degradation and fruit softening.

We experimentally and theoretically study a driven hybrid circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) system beyond the dispersive coupling regime. Treating the cavity as part of the driven system, we develop a theory applicable to such strongly coupled and to multiqubit systems. The fringes measured for a single driven double quantum dot (DQD)-cavity setting and the enlarged splittings of the hybrid Floquet states in the presence of a second DQD are well reproduced with our model. This opens a path to study Floquet states of multiqubit systems with arbitrarily strong coupling and reveals a new perspective for understanding strongly driven hybrid systems.

OBJECTIVE: To develop and validate a nomogram model for predicting chronic ocular graft-versus-host disease (coGVHD) in patients after allogenic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). METHODS: This study included 61 patients who survived at least 100 days after allo-HSCT. Risk factors for coGVHD were screened using LASSO regression, then the variables selected were subjected to logistic regression. Nomogram was established to further confirm the risk factors for coGVHD. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were constructed to assess the performance of the predictive model with the training and test sets. Odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were calculated by using logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: Among the 61 patients, 38 were diagnosed with coGVHD. We selected five texture features: lymphocytes (LYM) (OR = 2.26), plasma thromboplastin antecedent (PTA) (OR = 1.19), CD3 + CD25 + cells (OR = 1.38), CD3 + HLA-DR + cells (OR = 0.95), and the ocular surface disease index (OSDI) (OR = 1.44). The areas under the ROC curve (AUCs) of the nomogram with the training and test sets were 0.979 (95% CI, 0.895-1.000) and 0.969 (95% CI, 0.846-1.000), respectively.And the Hosmer-Lemeshow test was nonsignificant with the training (p = 0.9949) and test sets (p = 0.9691). CONCLUSION: We constructed a nomogram that can assess the risk of coGVHD in patients after allo-HSCT and help minimize the irreversible loss of vision caused by the disease in high-risk populations.

OBJECTIVES: To examine the characteristics of blood lymphocyte subsets in dermatomyositis-interstitial lung disease (DM-ILD) inflicted patients with positive anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (anti-MDA5), as well as its prognosis value in this set of patients. METHODS: Data were retrospectively collected from 253 DM-ILD patients from three hospitals in China between January 2016 to January 2021. Patients were grouped into anti-MDA5 antibody positive group (MDA5+ DM-ILD) and anti-MDA5 antibody negative group (MDA5- DM-ILD) based on myositis-specific autoantibody test results. Demographic characteristics, lymphocyte subsets patterns and other clinical features were compared between the two groups. The association of lymphocyte subsets with 180-day mortality was investigated using survival analysis in MDA5+ DM-ILD. RESULTS: Out of 253 eligible patients with DM-ILD, 59 patients were anti-MDA5+ and 194 were anti-MDA5-. Peripheral blood lymphocyte count, CD3+ count, percentage of CD3+, CD3+CD4+ count, and CD3+CD8+ count was lower in MDA5+ DM-ILD than in MDA5- DM-ILD- (all P < 0.001) as well as CD3-CD19+ count (P = 0.04). In MDA5+ DM-ILD, CD3+CD8+ count ≤ 49.22 cell/µL (HR = 3.81, 95%CI [1.20,12.14]) and CD3-CD19+ count ≤ 137.64 cell/µL (HR = 3.43, 95%CI [1.15,10.24]) were independent predictors of mortality. CD3+CD8+ count ≤ 31.38 cell/µL was associated with a higher mortality risk in all DM-ILD patients (HR = 8.6, 95%CI [2.12,31.44]) after adjusting for anti-MDA5 and other clinical characteristics. CONCLUSION: Significant lymphocytes decrease was observed in MDA5+ DM-ILD patients. CD3+CD8+ cell count was associated with worse prognosis in both MDA5+ DM-ILD and all DM-ILD patients.

BACKGROUND: Embryos with higher morphologic quality grading may have a greater potential to achieve clinical pregnancy that leads to a live birth regardless of the type of cleavage-stage embryos or blastocysts. Few studies have investigated the impacts of embryo grading on the long-term health of the offspring. OBJECTIVE: This pilot study aimed to examine the associations between embryo morphologic quality and the physical, metabolic, and cognitive development of singletons conceived by in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection at preschool age. STUDY DESIGN: This matched cohort study included singletons born to infertile couples who underwent fresh cleavage-stage embryo transfer cycles with good- or poor-quality embryos from 2014 to 2016 at the reproductive center of the Women's Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University. A total of 144 children, aged 4 to 6 years, participated in the follow-up assessment from 2020 to 2021, and the response rate of poor-quality embryo offspring was 39%. Singletons in the good-quality embryo group were matched with singletons in the poor-quality embryo group at a 2:1 ratio according to the fertilization method and the children's age (±1 year). We measured the offspring's height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure, thyroid hormone levels, and metabolic indicators. Neurodevelopmental assessments were performed using the Chinese version of the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, Fourth Edition, and the Adaptive Behavior Assessment System, Second Edition. We also collected data from the medical records. A linear regression model was used to analyze the association between embryo morphologic quality and offspring health outcomes. RESULTS: A total of 48 singletons conceived with poor-quality embryo transfer and 96 matched singletons conceived with good-quality embryo transfer were included in the final analysis. Age, sex, height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure, thyroid function, and metabolic indicators were comparable between the 2 groups. After adjustment for potential risk factors by linear regression model 1 and model 2, poor-quality embryo offspring exhibited a tendency toward higher free thyroxine levels than offspring of good-quality embryo transfers (beta, 0.22; 95% confidence interval, 0.09-0.90; beta, 0.22; 95% confidence interval, 0.09-0.91, respectively), but this difference was not clinically significant. Regarding neurodevelopmental assessments, there was no difference in the full-scale intelligence quotient based on the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (109.96±12.42 vs 109.60±14.46; P=.88) or the general adaptive index based on the Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (108.26±11.70 vs 108.08±13.44; P=.94) between the 2 groups. The subindices of the 2 tests were also comparable. These findings remained after linear regression analysis. CONCLUSION: At 4 to 6 years of age, singletons born from poor-quality embryo transfers have comparable metabolic and cognitive development as those born from good-quality embryo transfers using fresh cleavage-stage embryos. The results of this pilot study indicate that poor-quality embryos that can survive implantation and end in live birth are likely to have a developmental potential comparable to that of good-quality embryos.

BACKGROUND: Cirrhotic patients are susceptible to Clostridium difficile infection (CDI), however, the high risk factors are not clear. The present study aimed to identify the risk factors in cirrhotic patients with CDI. METHODS: A total of 526 cirrhotic patients admitted to our hospital between May 2015 and October 2015 were included in this study. Stool samples were collected upon admission for the detection of CDI and toxin. CDI was monitored during the hospital stay. In total, 34 cases showed CDI. Then we analyzed the effects of age, sex, C. difficile colonization (CDC), multiple hospitalization, extended hospital stay, elevation of total bilirubin (TBIL), creatinine (Cr), Child-Pugh grade C, hepatic encephalopathy, hepatorenal syndrome, upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and exposure of antibiotics and proton pump inhibitor (PPI) on the CDI in cirrhotic patients. RESULTS: Patients in the CDI group had more frequent CDC, multiple hospitalization, and extended hospital stay compared to those in the non-C. difficile infection (NCDI) group. Patients in the CDI group had higher TBIL and Cr, and higher frequency of Child-Pugh grade C, hepatic encephalopathy, upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage compared with those in the NCDI group. Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that age >60 years (OR=1.689; 95% CI: 1.135-3.128), multiple hospitalization (OR=3.346; 95% CI: 1.392-8.043), length of hospital stay >20 days (OR=1.564; 95% CI: 1.113-2.563), hypoproteinemia (OR=4.962; 95% CI: 2.053-11.996), CDC (OR=18.410; 95% CI: 6.898-49.136), hepatic encephalopathy (OR=1.357; 95% CI: 1.154-2.368), and exposure of antibiotics (OR=1.865; 95% CI: 1.213-2.863) and PPI (OR=3.125; 95% CI: 1.818-7.548) were risk factors of CDI. CONCLUSIONS: Age >60 years, multiple hospitalization, length of hospital stay >20 days, hypoproteinemia, CDC, hepatic encephalopathy, and exposure of antibiotics and PPI were risk factors for CDI in cirrhotic patients. These may contribute to the early diagnosis and monitoring of CDI in clinical practice.

BACKGROUND: Potential benefits and risks of early (≤30 days from stroke onset) selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) treatment for neurologic functional recovery after stroke are not fully understood. METHODS: We searched PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library to identify randomized controlled trials that assessed SSRI medications during the initial ictus after stroke versus placebo. Primary outcome was decrease in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score. Secondary outcomes included the improvement of Barthel index, functional independence (modified Rankin Scale score 0-2 at the end of follow-up), the incidence of depression, and adverse events including diarrhea, insomnia, hepatic enzyme disorders, seizure, and intracranial hemorrhage. We used fixed effects models or random effects models to estimate weighted mean differences (WMDs) and relative risks (RRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) according to heterogeneity. RESULTS: Eight trials were included, with 1549 patients. Compared with placebo, decrease in NIHSS was greater in SSRI-treated patients (WMD, 0.82; 95% CI, 0.31-1.33; P = .002). Trial sequential analysis showed that the cumulative z curve crossed the trial sequential monitoring boundary for benefit, establishing sufficient and conclusive evidence. Early SSRI treatment also promoted Barthel index (WMD, 5.32; 95% CI, 1.65-8.99; P = .005) and functional independence (RR, 2.54; 95% CI, 1.82-3.55; P < .0001). There was no difference in the incidence of depression and adverse events between groups. No evidence of publication bias was detected. CONCLUSIONS: The early SSRIs treatment reduces the defective neurologic function in patients undergoing rehabilitation after stroke.

Infection with Clostridium difficile has been shown to have particularly poor outcomes for pregnant women, including an increased risk of death. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence, genotypic distribution, and characterization of C. difficile strains isolated from pregnant women without diarrhea in China. As part of this study, 3.7% (37 out of 1009) of samples acquired from pregnant females tested positive for C. difficile. Of these positive samples, 27.0% (10) were toxigenic isolates containing both toxin A and toxin B genes (A+B+), 13.5% (5) of the variant strains contained the toxin B gene (A-B+) only, while the rest were non-toxigenic isolates (59.5%, 22 isolates). Among the non-pregnant women without diarrhea tested, 1.4% (9 of 651) contained toxigenic isolates (all of which were A+B+). Sixteen different sequence types (STs) were isolated during the course of this study. ST-37 (ribotype 017) and ST-54 (ribotype 012) were the most frequent toxigenic types observed in pregnant women. All strains showed susceptibility to the antibiotics metronidazole and vancomycin. The resistance rates of toxigenic C. difficile strains isolated from pregnant females to clindamycin, erythromycin, moxifloxacin, levofloxacin, and rifampicin were 20%, 46.7%, 13.6%, 46.7% and 13.3%, respectively. There was no significant difference between resistance rates of toxigenic and non-toxigenic strains with respect to their susceptibility to these antibiotics. However, when compared with the same data from non-pregnant women, toxigenic strains from pregnant women showed lower resistance rates to clindamycin (P < 0.05).

Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent cell death form characterized by reactive oxygen species (ROS) overgeneration and lipid peroxidation. Myricetin, a flavonoid that exists in numerous plants, exhibits potent antioxidant capacity. Given that iron accumulation and ROS-provoked dopaminergic neuron death are the two main pathological hallmarks of Parkinson's disease (PD), we aimed to investigate whether myricetin decreases neuronal death through suppressing ferroptosis. The PD models were established by intraperitoneally injecting 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) into rats and by treating SH-SY5Y cells with 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+), respectively. Ferroptosis was identified by assessing the levels of Fe2+, ROS, malondialdehyde (MDA), and glutathione (GSH). The results demonstrated that myricetin treatment effectively mitigated MPTP-triggered motor impairment, dopamine neuronal death, and α-synuclein (α-Syn) accumulation in PD models. Myricetin also alleviated MPTP-induced ferroptosis, as evidenced by decreased levels of Fe2+, ROS, and MDA and increased levels of GSH in the substantia nigra (SN) and serum in PD models. All these changes were reversed by erastin, a ferroptosis activator. In vitro, myricetin treatment restored SH-SY5Y cell viability and alleviated MPP+-induced SH-SY5Y cell ferroptosis. Mechanistically, myricetin accelerated nuclear translocation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and subsequent glutathione peroxidase 4 (Gpx4) expression in MPP+-treated SH-SY5Y cells, two critical inhibitors of ferroptosis. Collectively, these data demonstrate that myricetin may be a potential agent for decreasing dopaminergic neuron death by inhibiting ferroptosis in PD.

BACKGROUND: Despite regional brain structural changes having been reported in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP), the topological properties of structural covariance networks (SCNs), which refer to the organization of the SCNs, remain unclear. This study applied graph theoretical analysis to explore the alterations of the topological properties of SCNs, aiming to comprehend the integration and separation of SCNs in patients with CLBP. METHODS: A total of 38 patients with CLBP and 38 healthy controls (HCs), balanced for age and sex, were scanned using three-dimensional T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. The cortical thickness was extracted from 68 brain regions, according to the Desikan-Killiany atlas, and used to reconstruct the SCNs. Subsequently, graph theoretical analysis was employed to evaluate the alterations of the topological properties in the SCNs of patients with CLBP. RESULTS: In comparison to HCs, patients with CLBP had less cortical thickness in the left superior frontal cortex. Additionally, the cortical thickness of the left superior frontal cortex was negatively correlated with the Visual Analogue Scale scores of patients with CLBP. Furthermore, patients with CLBP, relative to HCs, exhibited lower global efficiency and small-worldness, as well as a longer characteristic path length. This indicates a decline in the brain's capacity to transmit and process information, potentially impacting the processing of pain signals in patients with CLBP and contributing to the development of CLBP. In contrast, there were no significant differences in the clustering coefficient, local efficiency, nodal efficiency, nodal betweenness centrality, or nodal degree between the two groups. CONCLUSIONS: From the regional cortical thickness to the complex brain network level, our study demonstrated changes in the cortical thickness and topological properties of the SCNs in patients with CLBP, thus aiding in a better understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of CLBP.

Background: Neuroimaging studies have suggested a pivotal role for the amygdala involvement in chronic low back pain (CLBP). However, the relationship between the amygdala subregions and CLBP has not yet been delineated. This study aimed to analyze whether the amygdala subregions were linked to the development of CLBP. Methods: A total of 45 patients with CLBP and 45 healthy controls (HCs) were included in this study. All subjects were asked to complete a three-dimensional T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (3D-T1 MRI) scan. FreeSurfer 7.3.2 was applied to preprocess the structural MRI images and segment the amygdala into nine subregions. Afterwards, comparisons were made between the two groups in terms of the volumes of the amygdala subregions. Correlation analysis is utilized to examine the relationship between the amygdala subregion and the scale scores, as well as the pain duration in patients with CLBP. Additionally, logistic regression was used to explore the risk of the amygdala and its subregions for CLBP. Results: In comparison to HCs, patients with CLBP exhibited a significant enlargement of the left central nucleus (Ce) and left cortical nucleus (Co). Furthermore, the increased volume of the left Ce was associated with a higher risk of CLBP. Conclusion: Our study suggests that the left Ce and left Co may be involved in the pathophysiological processes of CLBP. Moreover, the volume of the left Ce may be a biomarker for detecting the risk of CLBP.

Background: The association between body mass index (BMI) and rapid eye-movement (REM) sleep-related behavioral disorder (RBD) in Parkinson's disease (PD) remains unknown. Our study was to investigate the association of BMI with RBD in PD patients. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 1,115 PD participants were enrolled from Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) database. BMI was calculated as weight divided by height squared. RBD was defined as the RBD questionnaire (RBDSQ) score with the cutoff of 5 or more assessed. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression models were performed to examine the associations between BMI and the prevalence of RBD. Non-linear correlations were explored with use of restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis. And the inflection point was determined by the two-line piecewise linear models. Results: We identified 426 (38.2%) RBD. The proportion of underweight, normal, overweight and obese was 2.61, 36.59, 40.36, and 20.44%, respectively. In the multivariate logistic regression model with full adjustment for confounding variables, obese individuals had an odds ratio of 1.77 (95% confidence interval: 1.21 to 2.59) with RBD compared with those of normal weight. In the RCS models with three knots, BMI showed a non-linear association with RBD. The turning points of BMI estimated from piecewise linear models were of 28.16 kg/m2, 28.10 kg/m2, and 28.23 kg/m2 derived from univariable and multivariable adjusted logistic regression models. The effect modification by depression on the association between BMI and RBD in PD was also found in this study. Furthermore, the sensitivity analyses linked with cognition, education, and ethnic groups indicated the robustness of our results. Conclusion: The current study found a significant dose-response association between BMI and RBD with a depression-based difference in the impact of BMI on RBD in PD patients.

The One Health (OH) approach is used to control/prevent zoonotic events. However, there is a lack of tools for systematically assessing OH practices. Here, we applied the Global OH Index (GOHI) to evaluate the global OH performance for zoonoses (GOHI-Zoonoses). The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process algorithm and fuzzy comparison matrix were used to calculate the weights and scores of five key indicators, 16 subindicators, and 31 datasets for 160 countries and territories worldwide. The distribution of GOHI-Zoonoses scores varies significantly across countries and regions, reflecting the strengths and weaknesses in controlling or responding to zoonotic threats. Correlation analyses revealed that the GOHI-Zoonoses score was associated with economic, sociodemographic, environmental, climatic, and zoological factors. Additionally, the Human Development Index had a positive effect on the score. This study provides an evidence-based reference and guidance for global, regional, and country-level efforts to optimize the health of people, animals, and the environment.

Tin-based perovskites are becoming promising alternatives to lead-based perovskites with eco-friendly merit and tantalizing photophysical properties. Unfortunately, the lack of facile, low-cost synthesis approaches associated with extremely poor stability greatly restrict their practical applications. Herein, a facile room-temperature "coprecipitation" method utilizing ethanol (EtOH) solvent and salicylic acid (SA) additive is proposed for synthesizing highly stable cubic phase CsSnBr3 perovskite. Experimental results show that ethanol solvent and SA additive can not only effectively prevent the oxidation of Sn2+ during the synthesis processes but also stabilize the as-synthesized CsSnBr3 perovskite. These are mainly ascribed to the protection effect of ethanol and SA, which are attached on the surface of CsSnBr3 perovskite by coordinating with Br- and Sn2+ ions, respectively. As a result, CsSnBr3 perovskite can be obtained in open air and exhibits exceptional oxygen resistibility under moist air conditions (temperature: 24.2-25.8 °C; relative humidity: 63-78%). Absorption remains unchanged and photoluminescence (PL) intensity is vastly maintained (∼69%) after storage for 10 days, better than bulk CsSnBr3 perovskite film synthesized by spin-coating method whose PL intensity is decreased to 43% after storage for 12 h. This work represents a step toward stable tin-based perovskite by a facile and low-cost strategy.

The aim of this study is to improve the utilization of phosphorus (P) in soil, and to study the effects of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) on P fractions and bacterial communities. In this experiment, we reduced the amount of P fertilizer by 30 % and 40 % respectively to studied the effects of combined application of bacterial fertilizers on soil microbial community and phosphate transformation process under different fertilization rates. The results showed that the application of PSB affected the transformation process of different P fractions. PSB had the most significant impact on organic phosphorus (p < 0.05). Correlation analysis showed that the abundance of bacteria was significantly correlated to the P fractions, indicating that the application of PSB had affected the bacterial community structure. In addition, Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis showed that there was a causal relationship between the various visual variables. SEM confirmed the response relationship between bacterial communities and P components. Based on these results, we concluded that the application of PSB increased the sensitivity of P components, especially Olsen-P and MBP, to soil microorganisms. The application of PSB is an effective method to improve P utilization.

Backgrounds: The safety of different sodium-glucose transporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors remains uncertain due to the lack of head-to-head comparisons. Methods: This network meta-analysis (NMA) was performed to compare the safety of nine SGLT-2 inhibitors in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched for studies published in English before August 30, 2022. Published and unpublished randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the safety of individual SGLT-2 inhibitors in patients with T2DM were included. A Bayesian NMA with random effects model was applied. Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were performed. The quality of the evidence was evaluated using the Confidence in Network Meta-Analysis framework. Results: Nine SGLT-2 inhibitors were evaluated in 113 RCTs (12 registries) involving 105,293 adult patients. Reproductive tract infections (RTIs) were reported in 1,967 (4.51%) and 276 (1.01%) patients in the SGLT-2 inhibitor and placebo groups, respectively. Furthermore, pollakiuria was reported in 233 (2.66%) and 45 (0.84%) patients, respectively. Compared to placebo, a significantly higher risk of RTIs was observed with canagliflozin, ertugliflozin, empagliflozin, remogliflozin, dapagliflozin, and sotagliflozin, but not with luseogliflozin and ipragliflozin, regardless of gender. An increased risk of pollakiuria was observed with dapagliflozin [odds ratio (OR) 10.40, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.60-157.94) and empagliflozin (OR 5.81, 95%CI 1.79-32.97). Remogliflozin (OR 6.45, 95%CI 2.18-27.79) and dapagliflozin (OR 1.33, 95%CI 1.10-1.62) were associated with an increased risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs). Instead, the included SGLT-2 inhibitors had a protective effect against acute kidney injury (AKI). No significant differences were found for hypovolemia, renal impairment or failure, fracture, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), amputation, and severe hypoglycemia between the SGLT-2 inhibitor and the placebo groups. Conclusion: In patients with T2DM, dapagliflozin was associated with an increased risk of RTIs, pollakiuria, and UTIs. Empagliflozin increased the risk of RTIs and pollakiuria. Remogliflozin increased the risk of UTIs. None of the SGLT-2 inhibitors showed a significant difference from the placebo for hypovolemia, renal impairment or failure, fracture, DKA, amputation, and severe hypoglycemia. The findings guide the selection of SGLT-2 inhibitors for patients with T2DM based on the patient's profiles to maximize safety. BACKGROUND: Pingchan granule (PCG) is a traditional Chinese medicine for Parkinson's disease (PD). HYPOTHESIS/PURPOSE: This was the first study aiming to evaluate the efficacy and safety of PCG for motor symptoms, gait impairments and quality of life in PD. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: In this multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 292 participants were included and followed for 9 months, randomly assigned at a 1:1 ratio to receive PCG or placebo. The primary outcome was the severity of motor symptoms assessed by Movement Disorder Society Unified Parkinson's Rating Scale III (MDS-UPDRS-III) motor score. Secondary outcomes included timed up and go test (TUG), functional gait assessment (FGA), freezing of gait (FOG), and quality of life assessed by Parkinson's disease questionnaire (PDQ-39). Assessments were done at baseline (T0), 3 months (T1), 6 months (T2) and 9 months (T3). TRIAL REGISTRATION: Chinese Clinical Trial Register, ChiCTR-INR-1,701,194. RESULTS: Generalized estimating equation analyses revealed that PCG group had significantly better improvement in MDS-UPDRS-III motor score than placebo group, as well as its domain scores of axial symptoms, bradykinesia, rigidity, and tremor. Improvements of TUG time, FGA, FOG questionnaire (FOGQ), and PDQ39 scores were also observed. CONCLUSION: PCG had a long-lasting efficacy for motor symptoms and function in PD with good tolerance, supporting that PCG might be a viable alternative in the management of PD.
