RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The Huang-Huai-Hai Plain (3HP) is the main agricultural area in China. Although climate change (CC) and crop management (CM) are considered factors affecting the winter wheat net primary production (NPP) in this region, their effects remain unclear. In the present study, we evaluated the relative contributions of CC and CM to winter wheat aboveground NPP (ANPP) in the 3HP and the relationships between climatic factors and ANPP using the first-order difference method from 2000 to 2020. RESULTS: CM had a greater influence on the ANPP of winter wheat than did CC. However, the relative contribution of CM to ANPP gradually decreased in humid and dry sub-humid regions with the development of winter wheat. Furthermore, in areas characterized by low temperatures and limited precipitation, CC became the dominant factor contributing to ANPP, indicating that varieties resilient to drought and cold should be selected in these regions. Minimum and average temperatures were the dominant factors driving spatiotemporal variations in ANPP during the early stage of winter wheat growth, whereas maximum temperature constrained growth throughout the winter wheat growth cycle. When winter wheat entered the vigorous growth stage, precipitation and solar radiation replaced temperature as the driving factors influencing winter wheat growth. CONCLUSION: The results of the present study provide guidance for optimizing winter wheat crop management in the 3HP. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To aggregate and synthesize the findings of qualitative studies exploring the challenges perceived by nurses in home health nursing. DESIGN: A qualitative meta-synthesis. METHOD: A comprehensive search of multiple databases was conducted in December 2020 and updated in October 2022. Data were analyzed using the meta-aggregation method, and the analytical process used to derive themes was inductive. FINDINGS: Eleven qualitative studies were included, and four major challenges perceived by nurses were identified: (1) challenges in the performance of duties, (2) struggles with specific and restricted factors related to practice, (3) underestimation of the value of emotion, and (4) a difficult-to-surmount relationship gap. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL EVIDENCE: Home health nursing is associated with numerous challenges due to its complexity and high demand. The findings of this study are beneficial with respect to obtaining a deeper understanding of the challenges associated with home nursing. After considering the existing problems, it is necessary to take measures to overcome these challenges, and individuals, families and society should make efforts to develop this profession further.

RESUMO

Soil desertification and salinization are important environmental concerns in arid regions, and their relationship with groundwater change must be further clarified. However, the relationships among soil desertification, salinization, and groundwater are difficult to investigate on a large spatiotemporal scale using traditional ground surveys. In the windy beach area in Northern Shaanxi (WBANS), desertification and salinization problems coexist; therefore, this area was selected as the study area. The feasibility of implementing large-scale remote sensing inversions to identify the degree of desertification and salinization was verified based on measured data, and the degree of influence of groundwater burial depth (GBD) on desertification and salinization was quantified using the geodetector and residual trend analysis methods. The results showed that the GBD in the WBANS presented an increasing trend and the degree of salinization showed a decreasing trend. Moreover, the joint influence of the unique natural environment and anthropogenic activities has led to increases in fractional vegetation cover and considerable improvements in the ecological environment. The intensity of desertification explained by GBD in the WBANS increased significantly (p < 0.01) at a rate of change of 0.0190/year, with high q-values above 0.66 for both Yuyang and Shenmu. The contribution rate of potential evapotranspiration and precipitation to salinization in Yuyang and Shenmu was >97 %, and the contribution rate of GBD to salinization in Dingbian, Jingbian, and Hengshan was 34.78 %, 31.15 %, and 29.41 %, respectively. Overall, the suitable GBD in the WBANS is 2-4 m. The study results provide a reference for research on the inversion, monitoring, and prevention of desertification and salinization dynamics on a large spatiotemporal scale and offer a scientific basis for rationally determining GBD.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Due to different social and cultural backgrounds, cervical cancer patients' experience of the treatment process and quality of life after treatment will be different. This study sought to gain in-depth understanding of the experiences of Chinese cervical cancer patients as regards their quality of life and physical symptoms. METHODOLOGY: Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. We recruited 15 women with cervical cancer in eastern China for in-depth interviews. All data were entered into the NVivo 12 software program for analysis. RESULTS: Four themes emerged from the data: (a) uncertainty; (b) physical suffering; (c) psychological pressure; and (d) challenges of marriage and family. DISCUSSION: Cervical cancer patients showed concerns about the disease itself and the physical discomfort it causes, as well as changes in social relations. Health professionals need to talk about these issues and develop strategies to address them accordingly.

RESUMO

Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common cardiac arrhythmia, is an important contributor to mortality and morbidity. Ubquitin-specific protease 7 (USP7), one of the most abundant ubiquitin-specific proteases (USP), participated in many cellular events, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and tumourigenesis. However, its role in AF remains unknown. Here, the mice were treated with Ang II infusion to induce the AF model. Echocardiography was used to measure the atrial diameter. Electrical stimulation was programmed to measure the induction and duration of AF. The changes in atrial remodeling were measured using routine histologic analysis. Here, a significant increase in USP7 expression was observed in Ang II-stimulated atrial cardiomyocytes and atrial tissues, as well as in atrial tissues from patients with AF. The administration of p22077, the inhibitor of USP7, attenuated Ang II-induced inducibility and duration of AF, atrial dilatation, connexin dysfunction, atrial fibrosis, atrial inflammation, and atrial oxidase stress, and then inhibited the progression of AF. Mechanistically, the administration of p22077 alleviated Ang II-induced activation of TGF-ß/Smad2, NF-κB/NLRP3, NADPH oxidases (NOX2 and NOX4) signals, the up-regulation of CX43, ox-CaMKII, CaMKII, Kir2.1, and down-regulation of SERCA2a. Together, this study, for the first time, suggests that USP7 is a critical driver of AF and revealing USP7 may present a new target for atrial fibrillation therapeutic strategies.

RESUMO

Hypertension is one of the common causes of pathological cardiac hypertrophy and a major risk for morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases worldwide. Ubiquitin-Specific Protease 7 (USP7), the first identified deubiquitinating enzymes, participated in a variety of biological processes, such as cell proliferation, DNA damage response, tumourigenesis, and apoptosis. However, its role and mechanism in cardiac remodeling remain unclear. Here, our data indicated that USP7 expression was increased during Ang II-induced cardiac hypertrophy and remodeling in mice and humans with heart failure, while the administration of its inhibitor p22077 attenuated cardiac hypertrophy, cardiac fibrosis, inflammation, and oxidase stress. Mechanistically, the administration of p22077 inhibited the multiple signaling pathways, including AKT/ERK, TGF-ß/SMAD2/Collagen I/Collagen III, NF-κB/NLRP3, and NAPDH oxidases (NOX2 and NOX4). Taken together, these findings demonstrate that USP7 may be a new therapeutic target for hypertrophic remodeling and HF.

RESUMO

Atrial fibrosis and atrial inflammation are associated with the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF). Basic helix-loop-helix family member E40 (Bhlhe40) is an important transcription factor, which is involved in tumors, inflammation, apoptosis, viral infection, and hypoxia. However, its role and molecular mechanism in AF remain unclear. In this study, a mouse model of AF was induced by Ang II infusion. The atrial diameter was evaluated using echocardiography. Induction and duration of AF were measured by programmed electrical stimulation. Atrial structural remodeling was detected using routine histologic examinations. Our results showed that Bhlhe40 was significantly upregulated in angiotensin II (Ang II)-stimulated atrial cardiomyocytes and atrial tissues and in tissues from patients with AF. Cardiac-specific knockdown of Bhlhe40 in mice by a type 9 recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV9)-shBhlhe40 significantly ameliorated Ang II-induced atrial dilatation, atrial fibrosis, and atrial inflammation, as well as the inducibility and duration of AF. Mechanistically, cardiac-specific knockdown of Bhlhe40 attenuated Ang II-induced activation of NF-κB/NLRP3, TGF-1ß/Smad2 signals, the increased expression of CX43, and the decreased expression of Kv4.3 in the atria. This is the first study to suggest that Bhlhe40 is a novel regulator of AF progression, and identifying Bhlhe40 may be a new therapeutic target for hypertrophic remodeling and heart failure.

RESUMO

Understanding the changes of time-series is a common task in many application domains. Converting time-series data into videos helps an audience with little or no background knowledge gain insights and deep impressions. It essentially integrates data visualizations and animations to present the evolution of data expressively. However, it remains challenging to create this kind of data video. First, it is difficult to efficiently detect important changes and include them in the video sequence. Existing methods require much manual effort to explore the data and find changes. Second, how these changes are emphasized in the videos is also worth studying. A video without emphasis will hinder an audience from noticing those important changes. This article presents an approach that extracts and visualizes important changes of a time-series. Users can explore and modify these changes, and apply visual effects on them. Case studies and user feedback demonstrate the effectiveness and usability of our approach.
