RESUMO

This paper proposes a joint estimation method for source number and DOA based on an improved convolutional neural network for unknown source number and undetermined DOA estimation. By analyzing the signal model, the paper designs a convolutional neural network model based on the existence of a mapping relationship between the covariance matrix and both the source number and DOA estimation. The model, which discards the pooling layer to avoid data loss and introduces the dropout method to improve generalization, takes the signal covariance matrix as input and the two branches of source number estimation and DOA estimation as outputs, and achieves the unfixed number of DOA estimation by filling in invalid values. Simulation experiments and analysis of the results show that the algorithm can effectively achieve the joint estimation of source number and DOA. Under the conditions of high SNR and a large snapshot number, both the proposed algorithm and the traditional algorithm have high estimation accuracy, while under the conditions of low SNR and a small snapshot, the algorithm is better than the traditional algorithm, and under the underdetermined conditions, where the traditional algorithm often fails, the algorithm can still achieve the joint estimation.

To address the weakness that the difference co-array (DCA) only enhances the degrees of freedom (DOFs) to a limited extent, a new configuration called the generalized nested array via difference-sum co-array (GNA-DSCA) is proposed for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. We consider both the temporal and spatial information of the array output to construct the DSCA model, based on which the DCA and sum co-array (SCA) of the GNA are systematically analyzed. The closed-form expression of the DOFs for the GNA-DSCA is derived under the determined dilation factors. The optimal results show that the GNA-DSCA has a more flexible configuration and more DOFs than the GNA-DCA. Moreover, the larger dilation factors yield significantly wider virtual aperture, which indicates that it is more attractive than the reported DSCA-based sparse arrays. Finally, a hole-filling strategy based on atomic norm minimization (ANM) is utilized to overcome the degradation of the estimation performance due to the non-uniform virtual array, thus achieving accurate DOA estimation. The simulation results verify the superiority of the proposed configuration in terms of virtual array properties and estimation performance.

Sparse arrays are of deep concern due to their ability to identify more sources than the number of sensors, among which the hole-free difference co-array (DCA) with large degrees of freedom (DOFs) is a topic worth discussing. In this paper, we propose a novel hole-free nested array with three sub-uniform line arrays (NA-TS). The one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) representations demonstrate the detailed configuration of NA-TS, which indicates that both nested array (NA) and improved nested array (INA) are special cases of NA-TS. We subsequently derive the closed-form expressions for the optimal configuration and the available number of DOFs, concluding that the DOFs of NA-TS is a function of the number of sensors and the number of the third sub-ULA. The NA-TS possesses more DOFs than several previously proposed hole-free nested arrays. Finally, the superior direction of arrival (DOA) estimation performance based on the NA-TS is supported by numerical examples.

RESUMO

The convergence of supramolecular chemistry and single-molecule electronics offers a new perspective on supramolecular electronics, and provides a new avenue toward understanding and application of intermolecular charge transport at the molecular level. In this review, we will provide an overview of the advances in the characterization technique for the investigation of intermolecular charge transport, and summarize the experimental investigation of several non-covalent interactions, including π-π stacking interactions, hydrogen bonding, host-guest interactions and σ-σ interactions at the single-molecule level. We will also provide a perspective on supramolecular electronics and discuss the potential applications and future challenges.

A new genus and species of Encyrtidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea), Apteronotus Kang, Hu & Luo, gen. nov. (type species A.indigus Kang, Hu & Luo, sp. nov.), associated with insects inhabiting Oxytropis spp., and three newly recorded species for China, Copidosomaclavatum, Ericydnusaeneus and Tetracnemuskozlovi, are described from the Altun Mountain Nature Reserve, Xinjiang. Detailed illustrations of all species were included to support the identification and further study.

Astragaloside IV(ASⅣ), the main component of Radix Astragali, has been used to treat cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury (CIRI). However, the molecular mechanism of ASIV in CIRI needs to be further elucidated. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is considered to be an important kind of regulatory molecule in CIRI. In this work, the biological effect and molecular mechanism of ASIV in CIRI through lncRNA were analyzed by using rat middle cerebral artery occlusion and reperfusion (MCAO/R) model and primary rat microglia (RM) cells oxygen and glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) model. The neurological deficit score was evaluated, the volume of cerebral infarction was calculated, and pyroptosis related molecules were detected by qPCR and western blot. Then, high-throughput sequencing was performed in sham and MCAO/R groups. The competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks associated with pyroptosis were constructed by functional enrichment analysis. CCK-8 detection of cell survival rate, qPCR and western blot were used to determine the specific molecular mechanism of ASⅣ through ceRNA in vitro. Results showed thatASⅣ could decrease the neurological deficit score, reduce the volume of cerebral infarction, inhibit inflammatory reaction and pyroptosis in MCAO/R model rats. Next, the ceRNA network was established, including the LOC102555978/miR-3584-5p/NLRP3 regulatory network. In vitro experiments showed that LOC102555978 promotes NLRP3 mediated pyroptosis of RM cells through sponge adsorption of miR-3584-5p, which may provide a potential therapeutic target for post-CIRI inflammation regulation. ASⅣ could inhibit pyroptosis of RM cells by down-regulating LOC102555978. LOC102555978/miR-3584-5p/NLRP3 may be the molecular mechanism of ASⅣ's CIRI protective effect.

Body size is the most essential feature that significantly correlates with insects' longevity, fecundity, metabolic rate, and sex ratio. Numerous biogeographical rules have been proposed to illustrate the correlation between the body sizes of different taxa and corresponding geographical or environmental factors. Whether the minute and multifarious chalcids exhibit a similar geographical pattern is still little known. In this research, we analyzed morphological data from 2953 specimens worldwide, including the two most abundant and diverse taxa (Pteromalidae and Eulophidae), which are both composed of field-collected and BOLD system specimens. We examined forewing length as a surrogate of body size and analyzed the average size separately for males and females using two methods (species and assemblage-based method). To verify Bergmann's rule, we included temperature, precipitation, wind speed and solar radiation as explanatory variables in a generalized linear model to analyze the causes of the size variation. We found that there was an increasing trend in the body size of Pteromalidae and Eulophidae with altitude. The optimal Akaike information criterion (AIC) models showed that larger sizes are significantly negatively correlated with temperature and positively correlated with precipitation, and the possible reasons for this variation are discussed and analyzed.

Fusarium wilt of Momordica charantia in the greenhouse is one of the most severe crop diseases in Shandong Province, P.R. China. This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms of accumulation and long-term survival of the pathogen in naturally pathogenic soils. Soil physicochemical properties were tested after applying a highly virulent strain of Fusarium wilt to M. charantia in an artificial disease nursery. The functional structure of soil microorganisms was analyzed through amplicon sequencing. The highly virulent strain SG-15 of F. oxysporum f. sp. momordicae was found to cause Fusarium wilt in M. charantia in Shandong Province. The strain SG-15 could not infect 14 non-host crops, including Solanum melongena and Lycopersicon esculentum, but it had varying degrees of pathogenicity towards 11 M. charantia varieties. In the artificial disease nursery for Fusarium wilt of M. charantia, the F. oxysporum was distributed in the soil to a depth of 0-40 cm and was mainly distributed in crop residues at 0-10 cm depth. During crop growth, F. oxysporum primarily grows and reproduces in susceptible host plants, rather than disease-resistant hosts and non-host crops. The colonization of the pathogen of Fusarium wilt significantly changed the soil physicochemical properties, the functional structure of soil microorganisms and the circulation of soil elements such as carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur. Soil pH value, organic matter content, available iron content, available manganese content, FDA hydrolase activity and polyphenol oxidase activity were significantly correlated with the relative abundance of Fusarium wilt pathogens in the soil. In general, this study suggests that susceptible host plants facilitate the accumulation of Fusarium wilt pathogens in the soil. These pathogens can mediate the decomposition process of plant residues, particularly those of diseased plants, and indirectly or directly affect soil's chemical properties.

Lycium barbarum L., goji berry, is a precious traditional Chinese medicine and it is homology of medicine and food. Its growth is heavily dependent on nitrogen. The use of chemical fertilizers has significantly promoted the yield of goji berry and the development of the L. barbarum L. industry. However, crop plants are inefficient in the acquisition and utilization of applied nitrogen, it often leads to excessive application of nitrogen fertilizers by producers, which cause negatively impact to the environment ultimately. The exploration of an interaction model which deals with crops, chemical fertilizers, and rhizosphere microbes to improve nitrogen use efficiency, is, therefore, an important research objective to achieve sustainable development of agriculture greatly. In our study, we explored the effects of nitrogen input on soil microbial community structure, soil nitrogen cycling, and the contents of nutrients in L. barbarum fruits. The structure and composition of the bacterial community in the rhizosphere soil of L. barbarum were significantly different under different nitrogen supply conditions, and high nitrogen addition inhibited the diversity and stability of bacterial communities. Low nitrogen input stimulated the relative abundance of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), such as Nitrosospira, catalyzing the first step of the ammonia oxidation process. The results of the GLMM model showed that the level of nitrogen fertilizer (urea) input, the relative abundance of AOB, the relative abundance of Bradyrhizobium, and their combinations had significant effects on the soil nitrogen cycling and contents of nutrients in L. barbarum fruits. Therefore, we believe that moderately reducing the use of urea and other nitrogen fertilizers is more conducive to improving soil nitrogen use efficiency and Goji berry fruit quality by increasing the nitrogen cycling potential of soil microorganisms.

The Notch signaling pathway regulates cell invasion, adhesion, proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation via cell-to-cell interactions and plays important physiological roles in the ovary. This review summarizes current knowledge about the Notch signaling pathway in relation to ovarian functions and reveals the potential underlying mechanisms. We conducted an in-depth review of relevant literature to determine the current status of research into the Notch signaling pathway in relation to ovarian functioning and reveal potential underlying mechanisms. The activation of different Notch receptors promotes the formation of primordial follicles and proliferation of granulosa cells and inhibits steroid secretion. Abnormal regulation of the Notch signaling pathway or direct mutations might lead to over-activation or under-activation of the receptors, resulting in Notch upregulation or downregulation. It can also disrupt the normal physiological functions of the ovary. The lncRNA HOTAIR and growth hormones improved premature ovarian failure (POF) and promoted follicle maturation in a mouse model of POF by upregulating Notch1 expression. They also stimulated the Notch1 signaling pathway, increased the level of plasma estradiol, and decreased the level of plasma follicle-stimulating hormone. Thus, Notch1 could serve as a novel therapeutic target for POF. Several studies have reported multiple roles of Notch in regulating female primordial follicle formation and follicle maturation. Direct mutations in Notch-related molecules or abnormal gene regulation in the signaling pathway can lead to ovarian dysfunction. However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood.

Hard carbon (HC) is an attractive anode material for low-cost and high-energy density sodium-ion batteries (SIBs); however, its low initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) limits its practical battery application. To overcome this problem, we reported a facile strategy to compensate the irreversible capacity loss of HC anodes simply by a chemical presodiation reaction of the HC electrode with a sodiation reagent (sodium biphenyl, Na-Bp). Benefiting from the strong sodiation ability of Na-Bp, HC anodes can be presodiated rapidly in a very short time and the presodiated HC (NaxHC) is found to have a desirable ICE of 100%. When coupled with the Na3V2(PO4)3 cathode to build a SIB full cell, the NaxHC||Na3V2(PO4)3 cell exhibits a high ICE of ∼95.0% and an elevated energy density of 218 W h kg-1, which are far superior to those of the control cell using a pristine HC anode (50% ICE and 120 W h kg-1, respectively), suggesting great advantages brought about by the chemical presodiation process. More importantly, this presodiation reaction is very mild and highly efficient and can be widely extended to a variety of Na-storage materials, offering a new route to develop high-performance Na-storage materials for practical battery applications.

Targeting cell­cycle regulation to hinder cancer cell proliferation is a promising anticancer strategy. The present study investigated the effects of a novel sulfonamide, CCL113, on cell cycle progression in cancer cell lines (HeLa and HepG2), a noncancerous cell line (Vero) and a normal human fibroblast cell line (TIG­1­20). The present results showed that treatment with CCL113 significantly decreased the viability of the cancer cells. FACS analyses showed that CCL113 treatment increased the proportion of cancerous and noncancerous cells in the G2/M phase. Analyses of cell cycle regulatory proteins showed that CCL113 treatment inhibited the activity of CDK1 in HeLa cells, possibly due to the decrease in the level of Cdc25B/C proteins and arrest in the M phase. Using time­lapse imaging­assisted analyses of HeLa and Vero cells expressing fluorescent ubiquitination­based cell cycle indicator (FUCCI), it was observed that CCL113 treatment led to a prolonged G2 phase at the G2/M checkpoint and arrest in the M phase in both cell lines. This possibly activated the DNA damage response in noncancerous cells, while inducing mitotic arrest leading to apoptosis in the cancer cells. The results of molecular docking studies suggested that CCL113 might have the potential to bind to the taxol­binding site on ß­tubulin. In conclusion, CCL113 holds potential as a reliable anticancer drug due to its ability to induce mitotic arrest followed by apoptosis of cancer cells and to activate the DNA damage response in noncancerous cells, thereby facilitating exit from the cell cycle.

Normal aging is associated with the shift in motivational priorities from knowledge acquisition to emotion regulation. Current evidence indicates an age-related increase in preferences for positive over negative stimuli in true memory. In the present study, using the categorized pictures paradigm, we investigated whether older adults would exhibit a greater increase in false memory for positive versus negative lures, compared with young adults. We also examined the association of executive functioning with the preferences for positive over negative pictures in false recognition memory. A total of 27 young and 26 older adults studied emotional pictures from various categories during encoding and subsequently completed an old/new recognition test. In addition, all participants completed the executive functioning tests. The results revealed that both older and young adults showed higher rates of false recognition for positive pictures compared with negative pictures; no significant group by valence interaction was observed. Trail making scores were negatively correlated with positive processing preferences in false recognition rates in older but not young adults. These findings suggest that false recognition memory exhibits preferences toward positively valenced stimuli in both young and older adults. Cognitive control processes are necessary for older adults to distort memory in emotionally gratifying ways.

Manganese poisoning is a common occupational disease, studies have found that the susceptibility to manganese poisoning differs in individuals. We adopted genome-wide sequencing methods to screen for susceptibility genes involved in gene-mediated metabolic pathways from the perspective of manganese poisoning. We identified 18,439 genes in this study, including 14,272 known genes and 4398 new genes. We then selected 17 differential genes using p values, of which 7 genes were down-regulated and 10 genes were up-regulated. Possible interaction genes for each differential gene were selected according to the String database. Sgk1, HCRTr1, HspB1, Rem2, Oprd1, ATF5, and TRHr identified in this study may be involved in oxidative stress mechanisms, dopamine (DA) synthesis, and neuronal survival during apoptosis and may affect susceptibility to manganese poisoning.

OBJECTIVE: We explored methods to establish an animal model of manganese poisoning and evaluate the feasibility of the determination method. METHODS: Twenty-four specific pathogen-free male rats were randomly divided into four groups: control, low-dose (15.0 mg/kg), middle-dose (25.0 mg/kg), and high-dose (50.0 mg/kg). Intraperitoneal injection of MnCl2·H2O was administered every 48 h for three months. Rats were tested for behavior, muscle tension, and with a balance beam experiment at the end of each month. Three months later, the rats were sacrificed and brain tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) expression levels were measured. RESULTS: Rats in each group exhibited changes in behavior, muscle tone, and balance after exposure to manganese, and the scores of each test for the high-dose and middle-dose groups were statistically different from the low-dose and control groups. Finally, a rat model of manganese poisoning was identified with the TH expression less than 30% of the normal value. We find that the modeling success rate of the middle-dose and high-dose groups were 66.67% and 100%, respectively. In addition, there were negative correlations between the three assessment methods such as behavioral tests and TH expression levels. CONCLUSIONS: Intraperitoneal injection of MnCl2·H2O (25 mg/kg) can successfully establish a manganese poisoning rat model with low mortality rate. Muscle tension, balance beam, and behavioral tests can be used as preliminary determination methods for modeling.

Autophagy is disturbed in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and maintaining normal autophagy homeostasis is a new therapeutic strategy for AD treatment. Amyloid ß-derived diffusible ligands (ADDLs), the most toxic species of which are oligomeric forms of amyloid ß peptide (Aß) that originate from amyloid ß precursor protein (APP) via autophagy; however, whether ADDLs are involved in autophagy-related AD pathogenesis remains unclear. In this study, we primarily defined the specific subsets of ADDLs, A-0, A-12, A-24, and A-48, which were generated from ADDL aggregation mixtures at different time courses of assembly. The secondary structures of ADDL subsets were detected by circular dichroism (CD). Neuronal or non-neuronal cells were exposed to the subsets of ADDLs in vitro, and then, autophagic markers were detected. Our results first showed that exogenous or endogenous LC3 puncta (autophagosomes) were induced in the cytoplasm of cells exposed to ADDLs and that the LC3 puncta were the strongest with A-24 exposure. Then, the CD spectroscopy data also indicated that the proportion of α-helices decreased, whereas the proportion of ß-strands and ß-turns increased during ADDL assembly from 0 to 24 h. In addition, the quantitative Western blot data demonstrated that the ratio of LC3B-II/I was significantly increased, and SQSTM1/p62 decreased over time. Finally, our results indicated that the level of phosphorylated p70 S6 kinase (p-p70 S6 kinase), which is a substrate protein in the MTOR pathway, and the ratio of p-p70 S6 kinase/p70 S6 kinase significantly decreased following A-24 exposure. Taken together, our data suggest that ADDL-induced abnormal autophagy is correlated with Aß aggregation degree and the MTOR pathway, which might contribute to ADDL-induced AD pathogenesis.
