RESUMO

The electrochemical oxidation of the residual ammonia nitrogen contained in biologically pretreated coking wastewater using three-dimensional electrode system was studied. The results show the Ti/RuO2/IrO2 anode plates and the coke have good surface characteristics for the purpose of this study. In addition, studies also show that the three-dimensional electrode system should be able to give a satisfied solution to the residual bio-refractory ammonia nitrogen in biologically pretreated coking wastewater in comparison to conventional two-dimensional electrodes. At coke size of 10-20 mesh, electrode distance of 1.0 cm and current density of 4.5 mA/cm2, the residual ammonia nitrogen in the three-dimensional electrode system was almost completely removed in 60 min.

RESUMO

The dissipative concentration test of VOCs in the remediation process of a typical contaminated site was operated, and three routes of exposure were set up for health risk assessment in the repair process. Analysis showed that carbon tetrachloride was the single pollutant with highest multi-route cumulative non-carcinogenic index, which was as high as 8.86E + 01, and its contribution rate to the integrated non-carcinogenic effects was 74.45%. Respiratory exposure was the exposure route with highest multi-pollutant hazard index, which was 1.01E + 02, accounting for 84. 87% of the comprehensive risk index, and the index of integrated non-carcinogenic damage was 1.19E + 02. 1,2-dichloroethane was the single pollutant with highest multi-route cumulative carcinogenic index, which was as high as 3.08E-02, and its contribution rate to the integrated carcinogenic effects was 69.53%. Respiratory exposure was the exposure route with highest multi-pollutant hazard index, which was 3.96E -02, accounting for 89.39% of the comprehensive risk index, and the index of integrated carcinogenic damage was 4.43E-02.

RESUMO

This paper proposed a new biosorbent preparation method by alkali modification of sewage sludge. The cadmium ion (Cd(2+)) adsorption capacity of alkali modified sewage sludge (AMSS) was evaluated by equilibrium sorption experiments. The amount of released calcium ion (Ca(2+)) in sorption equilibrium experiment were measured in order to reveal the adsorption mechanism. In addition, Zeta potential, specific surface area and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra of AMSS were tested. The results showed that the cadmium adsorption isotherms of AMSS fitted well with both Langmuir and Freundlich models, and the maximum adsorption capacities increased by 0.713 mmol g(-1). The cadmium adsorption capacity of biosorbent increased with NaOH solution concentration (range from 0.25 to 7.5 mol L(-1)) for sewage sludge modification. The strong cadmium adsorption of AMSS was attributed to ion exchange effect, electrostatic attraction and complexation. This alkali modified sewage sludge may have a potential for serving as cadmium removal biosorbent.

RESUMO

Ozonation and Ru/AC catalyzed ozonation of dimethyl phthalate (DMP), phenols and disinfection by-products precursors were studied. It shows that Ru/AC catalyst can obviously enhance the mineralization of organic compounds. In the degradation of DMP, TOC removal was 28.84% by ozonation alone while it was 66.13% by catalytic ozonation. In the oxidation of 23 kinds of phenols, TOC removals were 9.57%-56.08% by ozonation alone while they were 41.81%-82.32% by catalytic ozonation. Compared to ozonation alone, Ru/AC catalyzed ozonation was more effective for the reduction of disinfection by-products formation potentials in source water. The reduction of haloacetic acids formation potentials was more obvious than thichlomethane formation potentials. After the treatment by catalytic ozonation, the haloacetic acids formation potentials decreased from 144.02 microg/L to 58.50 microg/L, which was below the standard value of EPA. However ozonation alone could not make it reach the standard. The treatments of source water by BAC, O3 + BAC, O3/AC + BAC and Ru/AC + O3 + BAC were also studied. In the four processes, TOC removal was 3.80%, 20.14%, 27.45% and 48.30% respectively, COD removal was 4.37%, 27.22%, 39.91% and 50.00% respectively, UV254 removal was 8.16%, 62.24%, 67.03% and 84.95% respectively. Ru/AC + O3 + BAC process is more effective than the other processes for the removal of TOC, COD and UV254 and no ruthenium leaching observed in the solution. It is a promising process for the treatment of micro polluted source water.

RESUMO

Combined oxide catalysts are prepared for catalytic combustion of soot and regeneration from diesel emissions. Thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA) and temperature programmed oxidation(TPO)are used to evaluate the activity of catalysts under the influence of composition, atomic ration, H2O, calcinations temperature and mass ration between catalysts and soot. Results show that Cu-Mo-O had high activity among double metal oxide catalysts. Among multicomponent metal oxide catalysts, Cu-K-Mo-O had high activity when atomic ratio Cu: K: Mo = 1:1:2 and mass ration between catalysts and soot equals 5: 1. Under this condition, soot ignition temperature of Cu-K-Mo-O catalyst was 327 degrees C. H2O addition and calcinations temperature had little influence on it,which is one kind of compatible catalyst for soot control and catalytic regeneration from diesel emissions.
