RESUMO

Strontium lithium orthosilicate hydride Sr2LiSiO4H was synthesized by the reaction of Sr2SiO4 with LiH at 700 °C in a H2 rich atmosphere. Rietveld refinement of the neutron powder diffraction pattern revealed that Sr2LiSiO4H is isostructural to Sr2LiSiO4F (space group P21/m) and its channel-like structure preferentially accommodates H- ions over F- ions. In addition, Sr2LiSiO4H is stable in air and its Eu2+-doped analog exhibits yellow photoluminescence with an emission band at 544 nm and a broad excitation band ranging from 250 to 450 nm. These bands were observed in the longer wavelength region when compared with those displayed by Sr2LiSiO4F:Eu2+. The red shift, which is induced by H- substitution, is consistent with the constrained density functional theory calculations, predicting the photo-excitation and emission energies of 4f-5d transitions. The present study reports the synthesis of stable oxyhydrides acting as phosphor hosts for rare earth ions. The phosphor hosts exhibit large nephelauxetic effects owing to the presence of H- ligands.

RESUMO

Increasing evidence indicates that pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) are involved in neuropathic pain after peripheral nerve injury (PNI). While a significant number of studies support an association between neuropathic pain and the innate immune response mediated through Toll-like receptors, a family of PRRs, the roles of other types of PRRs are largely unknown. In this study, we have focused on the macrophage-inducible C-type lectin (Mincle), a PRR allocated to the C-type lectin receptor family. Here, we show that Mincle is involved in neuropathic pain after PNI. Mincle-deficient mice showed impaired PNI-induced mechanical allodynia. After PNI, expression of Mincle mRNA was rapidly increased in the injured spinal nerve. Most Mincle-expressing cells were identified as infiltrating leucocytes, although the migration of leucocytes was also observed in Mincle-deficient mice. Furthermore, Mincle-deficiency affected the induction of genes, which are reported to contribute to neuropathic pain after PNI in the dorsal root ganglia and spinal dorsal horn. These results suggest that Mincle is involved in triggering sequential processes that lead to the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to identify the practical abilities required by nonspecialist occupational physicians and specify the priorities for training programs. METHODS: A practical abilities list was developed through a focus group meeting of specialists. We created a survey questionnaire and asked three groups, namely, occupational physicians, occupational health nurses, and health officers, to rate the importance of each practical ability. RESULTS: The mean scores for all 45 items were greater than 4, i.e., in the middle of the 7-point Likert scale, for all the three groups. The occupational physicians' responses had a correlation with the other groups' responses. However, there were differences with regard to some practical abilities between the three groups. Five practical abilities from the top quartile were marked "A" by all the three groups: "Submit opinions on fitness for duty and work accommodation on the basis of data from health examination," "Respect employee privacy," "Submit opinion on fitness for duty and work accommodation on the basis of data from face-to-face interviews with employees," "Submit opinions on fitness for duty and work accommodation on the basis of data from health surveillance," and "Implement face-to-face interviews for employees who have worked overtime and evaluate the subjects' conditions including mental and physical health status, degree of accumulated fatigue, and depression." CONCLUSIONS: This study resulted in a rank-ordered list of 45 practical abilities that are required by nonspecialist occupational physicians. This result may be useful to review and redesign the existing training program for nonspecialist occupational physicians.
