Cluster analysis, a pivotal step in single-cell sequencing data analysis, presents substantial opportunities to effectively unveil the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular heterogeneity and intercellular phenotypic variations. However, the inherent imperfections arise as different clustering algorithms yield diverse estimates of cluster numbers and cluster assignments. This study introduces Single Cell Consistent Clustering based on Spectral Matrix Decomposition (SCSMD), a comprehensive clustering approach that integrates the strengths of multiple methods to determine the optimal clustering scheme. Testing the performance of SCSMD across different distances and employing the bespoke evaluation metric, the methodological selection undergoes validation to ensure the optimal efficacy of the SCSMD. A consistent clustering test is conducted on 15 authentic scRNA-seq datasets. The application of SCSMD to human embryonic stem cell scRNA-seq data successfully identifies known cell types and delineates their developmental trajectories. Similarly, when applied to glioblastoma cells, SCSMD accurately detects pre-existing cell types and provides finer sub-division within one of the original clusters. The results affirm the robust performance of our SCSMD method in terms of both the number of clusters and cluster assignments. Moreover, we have broadened the application scope of SCSMD to encompass larger datasets, thereby furnishing additional evidence of its superiority. The findings suggest that SCSMD is poised for application to additional scRNA-seq datasets and for further downstream analyses.

Group A rotavirus (RVA) is considered an important cause of acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in all age groups, especially in children. We investigated the epidemiology of RVA in outpatients aged ≤ 16 years at the Children's Hospital of Fudan University, Shanghai, China. In this study, 16.6% (246/1482) were infected with RVA. The detection rate of RVA was significantly higher in the year of 2021 (20.3%, 147/725) compared to the year of 2020 (14.5%, 77/531) and 2022 (9.7%, 22/226) (p = 0.000). RVA infection was prevalent in all seasons from 2020 to 2022, with a different monthly distribution observed in different years. Among 246 RVA-positive samples, 14 different RVA genotypes were detected with different frequencies. Overall, G9P[8] (45.5%, 112/246) was the most common RVA genotype, followed by G8P[8] (37.4%, 92/246) and G3P[8] (4.1%, 10/246). The prevalence of G/P combinations varied from 2020 to 2022. G9P[8] was the most prevalent circulating genotype in 2020 (68.2%, 15/22) and 2021 (57.8%, 85/147). However, G8P[8] (68.8%, 53/77) suddenly became the most prevalent genotype in 2022 after being first identified in 2020 and prevalent in 2021. The G8 strains detected in the study were all clustered to DS-1-like G8 strains with the closest genetic distance to strains circulating in Southeast Asia. Our study demonstrated the diversity of circulating RVA genotypes in Shanghai. The sudden emergence and high prevalence of unusual G8P[8] strains deserve more concern and indicate the need for continuous surveillance of RVA in children with AGE in the future to refine future vaccine strategy.

Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLDs) are associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection in transplant recipients. Most of lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) derived from EBV-immortalized B cells or PTLDs are sensitive to CD95-mediated apoptosis and cytotoxic T cell (CTL) killing. CD95 ligand (CD95L) exists as a transmembrane ligand (mCD95L) or a soluble form (sCD95L). Using recombinant mCD95L and sCD95L, we observed that sCD95L does not affect LCLs. While high expression of mCD95L in CTLs promotes apoptosis of LCLs, low expression induces clathrin-dependent CD19 internalization, caspase-dependent CD19 cleavage, and proteasomal/lysosomal-dependent CD19 degradation. The CD95L/CD95-mediated CD19 degradation impairs B cell receptor (BCR) signaling and inhibits BCR-mediated EBV activation. Interestingly, although inhibition of the caspase activity restores CD19 expression and CD19-mediated BCR activation, it fails to rescue BCR-mediated EBV lytic gene expression. EBV-specific CTLs engineered to overexpress mCD95L exhibit a stronger killing activity against LCLs. This study highlights that engineering EBV-specific CTLs to express a higher level of mCD95L could represent an attractive therapeutic approach to improve T cell immunotherapy for PTLDs.

The accuracy of phase demodulation has significant impact on the accuracy of fringe projection 3D measurement. Currently, researches based on deep learning methods for extracting wrapped phase mostly use U-Net as the subject of network. The connection method between its hierarchies has certain shortcomings in global information transmission, which hinders the improvement of wrapped phase prediction accuracy. We propose a single-shot phase demodulation method for fringe projection based on a novel full-scale connection network SE-FSCNet. The encoder and decoder of the SE-FSCNet have the same number of hierarchies but are not completely symmetrical. At the decoder a full-scale connection method and feature fusion module are designed so that SE-FSCNet has better abilities of feature transmission and utilization compared with U-Net. A channel attention module based on squeeze and excitation is also introduced to assign appropriate weights to features with different scales, which has been proved by the ablation study. The experiments conducted on the test set have demonstrated that the SE-FSCNet can achieve higher precision than the traditional Fourier transform method and the U-Net in phase demodulation.

BACKGROUND: The immature and suppressed immune response makes transplanted children a special susceptible group to Parvovirus B19 (PVB19). However, the clinical features of transplanted children with PVB19 infection haven't been comprehensively described. METHODS: We searched the medical records of all the transplant recipients who attended the Children's Hospital of Fudan University from 1 Oct 2020 to 31 May 2023, and reviewed the medical literature for PVB19 infection cases among transplanted children. RESULTS: A total of 10 cases of PVB19 infection were identified in 201 transplanted children at our hospital, and the medical records of each of these cases were shown. Also, we retrieved 40 cases of PVB19 infection among transplanted children from the literature, thus summarizing a total of 50 unique cases of PVB19 infection. The median time to the first positive PVB19 DNA detection was 14 weeks post-transplantation. PVB19 IgM and IgG were detected in merely 26% and 24% of the children, respectively. The incidence of graft loss/dysfunction was as high as 36%. Hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients showed higher PVB19 load, lower HGB level, greater platelet damage, lower PVB19 IgM/IgG positive rates, and more graft dysfunction than solid-organ transplant (SOT) recipients, indicating a more incompetent immune system. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with the published data of transplanted adults, transplanted children displayed distinct clinical features upon PVB19 infection, including lower PVB19 IgM/IgG positive rates, more graft dysfunction, and broader damage on hematopoietic cell lines, which was even more prominent in HSCT recipients, thus should be of greater concern.

Multivalent-ion batteries have garnered significant attention due to their high energy density, low cost, and superior safety. Calcium-ion batteries (CIBs) are regarded as the next-generation energy storage systems for their abundant natural resources and bivalent characteristics. However, the absence of high-performance anode materials poses a significant obstacle to the progress of battery technology. Two-dimensional (2D) Dirac materials have excellent conductivity and abundant active sites, rendering them promising candidates as anode materials. A novel 2D Dirac material known as "graphene+" has been theoretically reported, exhibiting prominent properties including good stability, exceptional ductility, and remarkable electronic conductivity. By using first-principles calculations, we systematically investigate the performance of graphene+ as an anode material for CIBs. Graphene+ exhibits an ultra-high theoretical capacity (1487.7 mA h g-1), a small diffusion barrier (0.21 eV), and a low average open-circuit voltage (0.51 V). Furthermore, we investigate the impact of the electrolyte solvation on the performance of Ca-ion adsorption and migration. Upon contact with electrolyte solvents, graphene+ exhibits strong adsorption strength and rapid migration of Ca-ions on its surface. These results demonstrate the promising potential of graphene+ as a high-performance anode material for CIBs.

Carbonaceous materials are promising candidates as anode materials for non-lithium-ion batteries (NLIBs) due to their appealing properties such as good electrical conductivity, low cost, and high safety. However, graphene, a classic two-dimensional (2D) carbon material, is chemically inert to most metal atoms, hindering its application as an electrode material for metal-ion batteries. Inspired by the unique geometry of a four-penta unit, we explore a metallic 2D carbon allotrope C5-10-16 composed of 5-10-16 carbon rings. The C5-10-16 monolayer is free from any imaginary frequencies in the whole Brillouin zone. Due to the introduction of a non-sp2 hybridization state into C5-10-16, the extended conjugation of π-electrons is disrupted, leading to the enhanced surface activity toward metal ions. We investigate the performance of C5-10-16 as the anode for sodium/potassium-ion batteries by using first-principles calculations. The C5-10-16 sheet has high theoretical specific capacities of Na (850.84 mA h g-1) and K (743.87 mA h g-1). Besides, C5-10-16 exhibits a moderate migration barrier of 0.63 (0.32) eV for Na (K), ensuring rapid charging/discharging processes. The average open-circuit voltages of Na and K are 0.33 and 0.62 V, respectively, which are within the voltage acceptance range of anode materials. The fully sodiated (potassiated) C5-10-16 shows tiny lattice expansions of 1.4% (1.3%), suggesting the good reversibility. Moreover, bilayer C5-10-16 significantly affects both the adsorption strength and the mobility of Na or K. All these results show that C5-10-16 could be used as a promising anode material for NLIBs.

Binocular structured light systems are widely used in 3D measurements. In the condition of complex and local highly reflective scenes, to obtain more 3D information, binocular systems are usually divided into two pairs of devices, each having a Single Camera and a Projector (SCP). In this case, the binocular system can be seen as Dual Cameras-Projector (DCP) system. In the DCP calibration, the Left-SCP and Right-SCP need to be calibrated separately, which leads to inconsistent parameters for the same projector, thus reducing the measurement accuracy. To solve this problem and improve manoeuvrability, a coupled calibration method using an orthogonal phase target is proposed. The 3D coordinates on a phase target are uniquely determined by the binocular camera in DCP, rather than being calculated separately in each SCP. This ensures the consistency of the projector parameters. The coordinates of the projector image plane are calculated through the unwrapped phase, while the parameters are calibrated by the plane calibration method. In order to extract sub-pixel accuracy feature points, a method based on polynomial fitting using an orthogonal phase target is exploited. The experimental results show that the reprojection error of our method is less than 0.033 pixels, which improves the calibration accuracy.

BACKGROUND: PTPRF interacting protein alpha 1 (PPFIA1) is reportedly related to the occurrence and progression of several kinds of malignancies. However, its role in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is unclear. This current study investigated the prognostic significance and biological functions of PPFIA1 in ESCC. METHODS: Oncomine, Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA), and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) were used to investigate PPFIA1 expression in esophageal cancer. The relationship between PPFIA1 expression and clinicopathological characteristics and patient survival was evaluated in GSE53625 dataset, and verified in the cDNA array based on qRT-PCR and tissue microarray (TMA) dataset based on immunohistochemistry. The impact of PPFIA1 on the migration and invasion of cancer cells were investigated by wound-healing and transwell assays, respectively. RESULTS: The expression of PPFIA1 was obviously increased in ESCC tissues versus adjacent esophageal tissues according to online database analyses (all P < 0.05). High PPFIA1 expression was closely related to several clinicopathological characteristics, including tumor location, histological grade, tumor invasion depth, lymph node metastasis, and tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage. High PPFIA1 expression was related to worse outcomes and was identified as an independent prognostic factor of overall survival in ESCC patients (GSE53625 dataset, P = 0.019; cDNA array dataset, P < 0.001; TMA dataset, P = 0.039). Downregulation of PPFIA1 expression can significantly reduce the migration and invasion ability of ESCC cells. CONCLUSION: PPFIA1 is related to the migration and invasion of ESCC cells, and can be used as a potential biomarker to evaluate the prognosis of ESCC patients.

In this work, two kinds of BN-nanowires (BNnws): a-BNnw and d-BNnw, respectively composed of azo (N-N) and diboron (B-B) bonds, are proposed with the aid of the first-principles simulations. Their structural stabilities are carefully verified from the energetics, lattice dynamics, and thermodynamic perspectives. Similar to the other common boron nitride polymorph, the a-BNnw and d-BNnw are semiconductors with relatively wide band gaps of 3.256 and 4.631 eV at the HSE06 level, respectively. The corresponding projected DOS patterns point out that their band edges are composed of different atomic species, which can help with the separation of their excitons. The band gaps can be manipulated monotonically by axial strains within the elastic ranges. The major charge carriers are electron holes. Significantly, a-BNnw possesses very high carrier mobilities around 0.44×104  cm2 V-1 s-1 .

BACKGROUND: Human adenovirus (HAdV) has been recognized as one of the common enteric viruses associated with acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in children. The aim of this study was carried out to illustrate the epidemiological characterization of HAdV Infections among children younger than 15 years in Shanghai during COVID-19. METHODS: During May 2020 and April 2022, 1048 fecal samples were collected from children ≤ 15 years diagnosed with AGE in the Children's Hospital of Fudan University. HAdV was identified by PCR and sequenced with specific primers. All the obtained sequences were analyzed by MEGA (version 6.0). Demographic information and clinical features data were also collected and analyzed. RESULTS: In total, 97 (9.3%, 97/1048) samples were detected to be HAdV during May 2020 and April 2022. We found an atypical upsurge in HAdV infection in the year 2021 after a major suppression in the year 2020. Approximately 84.5% (82/97) of HAdV-infected children were aged 0-60 months. Among the 97 HAdV-positive samples, only two species and five genotypes were detected. HAdV-F (88.7%, 86/97) was the most prevalent species and HAdV-F41 (87.6%, 85/97) was the most common genotype. Diarrhea, vomiting, and fever were the main clinical manifestations in children infected with HAdV. The children aged from 0 to 12 months showed simpler patterns of clinical presentation than those of children older than 13 months. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings described the epidemiological changes of HAdV infection in children with AGE during the COVID-19, which further underscored the importance of continuous surveillance of HAdV at both local and global scales.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 infection continues all over the world, causing serious physical and psychological impacts to patients. Patients with COVID-19 infection suffer from various negative emotional experiences such as anxiety, depression, mania, and alienation, which seriously affect their normal life and is detrimental to the prognosis. Our study is aimed to investigate the effect of psychological capital on alienation among patients with COVID-19 and the mediating role of social support in this relationship. METHODS: The data were collected in China by the convenient sampling. A sample of 259 COVID-19 patients completed the psychological capital, social support and social alienation scale and the structural equation model was adopted to verify the research hypotheses. RESULTS: Psychological capital was significantly and negatively related to the COVID-19 patients' social alienation (p < .01). And social support partially mediated the correlation between psychological capital and patients' social alienation (p < .01). CONCLUSION: Psychological capital is critical to predicting COVID-19 patients' social alienation. Social support plays an intermediary role and explains how psychological capital alleviates the sense of social alienation among patients with COVID-19 infection.

Na-ion batteries (NIBs) have attracted a great deal of attention for large-scale electric energy storage due to their inherent safety, natural abundant resources, and low cost. The exploration of suitable anode materials is the major challenge in advancing NIB technology. On the basis of first-principles calculations, we systematically explore the potential performance of two-dimensional (2D) TiCl2 as an electrode material for NIBs. Monolayer TiCl2 can be easily exfoliated from the bulk structure with a small exfoliation energy of 0.64 J m-2. It shows good stability, as demonstrated by its high cohesive energy, positive phonon modes, and high thermal stability. Monolayer TiCl2 has high storage capacity (451.3 mA h g-1), low diffusion energy barrier (0.02-0.14 eV), moderate average open-circuit voltage (0.81 V), and small lattice change (2.37%). Moreover, bilayer TiCl2 can significantly enhance the Na adsorption strength but reduce the Na-ion diffusion ability. These results suggest that TiCl2 is a promising anode candidate for NIBs.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have attracted much attention due to their abundant earth-reserves and low cost. Two-dimensional (2D) Dirac materials show great application prospects as anodes for SIBs because of their excellent electronic conductivity. We explore the performances of AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayers and bilayers as anodes for SIBs by using first-principles calculations. The AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayer exhibits a high theoretical storage capacity of 954.15 (709.17) mA h g-1 and a low diffusion barrier of 0.36 (0.03) eV. The calculated average open-circuit voltage (0.68/0.18 V) falls within the acceptance range of 0.1-1.0 V for anode materials. The fully sodiated AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayer shows a tiny lattice expansion of 0.9% (2.4%), suggesting good reversibility. Furthermore, in comparison with the AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayer, the AlB4 (Al2B2) bilayer can provide stronger binding with Na on the outside surface. These results contribute to a better understanding of the AlB4 (Al2B2) monolayers and bilayers as potential high-performance anode materials for SIBs.

BACKGROUND: work alienation is receiving increasing attention as a psychological risk at work, and little is known about the mechanisms of role ambiguity and work alienation in nurses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This article aims to examine how role ambiguity affects work alienation among Chinese nurses during the two years after COVID-19 pandemic and verify emotional exhaustion as mediators. METHODS: A cross-sectional study design was used to recruit 281 Chinese nurses. Nurses completed online questionnaires containing demographic characteristics, role ambiguity, emotional exhaustion, and work alienation, and SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 24.0 were used for data analysis and structural equation modelling. RESULTS: work alienation scores were (34.64 ± 10.09), work alienation was correlated with role ambiguity and emotional exhaustion (r1 = 0.521, r2 = 0.755; p < .01), and role ambiguity was positively correlated with emotional exhaustion (r = 0.512; p < .01). A mediating effect of emotional exhaustion between role ambiguity and work alienation held (mediating effect of 0.288, 95% CI: 0.221-0.369, accounting for 74.8% of the total effect). CONCLUSION: Role ambiguity has a significant direct effect on nurses' feelings of alienation and exacerbates alienation through emotional exhaustion. Clarifying roles at work and being less emotionally drained are effective ways to reduce nurses' feelings of alienation.

We aimed to investigate the predictive validity of monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR) for coronary artery lesions (CALs) and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) resistance in complete Kawasaki disease (KD). MHR values of a total of 207 complete KD patients were calculated and analyzed with regard to their clinical characteristics and outcomes. We compared the differences in clinical data and laboratory parameters between CAL+ group and CAL- group as well as between IVIG-resistant group and IVIG-responsive group. Spearman's correlation analysis was applied to evaluate the correlation between C-reactive protein (CRP) and MHR. Multivariate logistic regression was used to identify risk factors of CALs and IVIG resistance. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was chosen to determine the optimal cut-off value of MHR and its validity in predicting CALs and IVIG resistance. The MHR level was significantly higher in the CAL+ group, with cut-off value of 1.30 g/L, yielding a sensitivity of 0.753 and specificity of 0.805, as well as in IVIG-resistant group, with cut-off value of 1.03 g/L, yielding a sensitivity of 0.97 and specificity of 0.485. Multivariate logistic regression showed that MHR was an independent risk factor for CALs but not for IVIG resistance. According to the Spearman's correlation analysis, CRP was positively correlated with the MHR. CONCLUSIONS: As a practical, cost-effective inflammatory biomarker, MHR has a significantly predictive value in complete KD children complicated with CALs and IVIG-resistance. Paying more attention to the changes of MHR in KD children may contribute to better understanding of KD development and prognosis in clinical practice. WHAT IS KNOWN: • CALs are the most prevalent serious sequela of KD, and approximately 10%~20% of patients do not respond to IVIG therapy. • MHR could be a convenient biomarker to predict the development and progression of CVDs. It has been reported that the MHR is a new prognostic biomarker in several CVDs. WHAT IS NEW: • MHR has a significantly predictive value in KD children complicated with CALs and IVIG-resistance. • Compared with the molecular and immunological biomarkers that have been reported, MHR has the characteristics of practical, cost-effective, higher sensitivity and specificity, which can be used as a predictive indicator in complete KD patients.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the genetic causes and teeth characteristics of dentin dysplasia Shields type II(DD-II) in three Chinese families. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data from three Chinese families affected with DD-II were collected. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) and whole-genome sequencing (WGS) were conducted to screen for variations, and Sanger sequencing was used to verify mutation sites. The physical and chemical characteristics of the affected teeth including tooth structure, hardness, mineral content, and ultrastructure were investigated. RESULTS: A novel frameshift deletion mutation c.1871_1874del(p.Ser624fs) in DSPP was found in families A and B, while no pathogenic mutation was found in family C. The affected teeth's pulp cavities were obliterated, and the root canals were smaller than normal teeth and irregularly distributed comprising a network. The patients' teeth also had reduced dentin hardness and highly irregular dentinal tubules. The Mg content of the teeth was significantly lower than that of the controls, but the Na content was obviously higher than that of the controls. CONCLUSIONS: A novel frameshift deletion mutation, c.1871_1874del (p.Ser624fs), in the DPP region of the DSPP gene causes DD-II. The DD-II teeth demonstrated compromised mechanical properties and changed ultrastructure, suggesting an impaired function of DPP. Our findings expand the mutational spectrum of the DSPP gene and strengthen the understanding of clinical phenotypes related to the frameshift deletion in the DPP region of the DSPP gene. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: A DSPP mutation can alter the characteristics of the affected teeth, including tooth structure, hardness, mineral content, and ultrastructure.

Cyanobacteria outbreaks are serious water pollution events, causing water crises around the world. Photocatalytic disinfection, as an effective approach, has been widely used to inhibit blue algae growth. In this study, a tiny reaction room containing a TiO2 film was designed to fulfill in situ optical observation of the destruction process of a one-dimensional multicellular microorganism, Anabaena sp. PCC 7120, which is also a typical bacterial strain causing water blooms. It was found that the fragment number increased exponentially with the activation time. The fracture mechanics of the algae chains were hypothesized to be the combining functions of increased local tensile stress originated from the cell contracting as well as the oxidative attacks coming from reactive oxygen species (ROSs). It was assumed that the oxidative species were the root cause of cellular structure changes in and chain fractures of Anabaena sp. PCC 7120 in the photocatalytic inactivation activity.

Gammaherpesviruses have evolved various strategies to take advantage of host cellular factors or signaling pathways to establish a lifelong latent infection. Like the human gammaherpesvirus Epstein-Barr virus, murine gammaherpesvirus 68 (MHV68) establishes and maintains latency in the memory B cells during infection of laboratory mice. We have previously shown that MHV68 can immortalize fetal liver-derived B cells that induce lymphomas when injected into immunodeficient mice. Here we identify interleukin 16 (IL16) as a most abundantly expressed cytokine in MHV68-immortalized B cells and show that MHV68 infection elevates IL16 expression. IL16 is not important for MHV68 lytic infection but plays a critical role in MHV68 reactivation from latency. IL16 deficiency increases MHV68 lytic gene expression in MHV68-immortalized B cells and enhances reactivation from splenic latency. Correlatively, IL16 deficiency increases the frequency of MHV68-infected plasma cells that can be attributed to enhanced MHV68 reactivation. Furthermore, similar to TPA-mediated lytic replication of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, IL16 deficiency markedly induces Tyr705 STAT3 de-phosphorylation and elevates p21 expression, which can be counteracted by the tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor orthovanadate. Importantly, orthovanadate strongly blocks MHV68 lytic gene expression mediated by IL16 deficiency. These data demonstrate that virus-induced IL16 does not directly participate in MHV68 lytic replication, but rather inhibits virus reactivation to facilitate latent infection, in part through the STAT3-p21 axis.

Nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) taken to combat the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic have not only decreased the spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 but also have had an impact on the prevalence of other common viruses. This study aimed to investigate the long-term impact of NPIs on common respiratory and enteric viruses among children in Shanghai, China, as NPIs were relaxed after June 2020. The laboratory results and clinical data of outpatient children with acute respiratory tract infections (ARTI) and acute gastroenteritis (AGE) were analyzed and compared between the post-COVID-19 period (from June 2020 to January 2022) and pre-COVID-19 period (from June 2018 to January 2020). A total of 107 453 patients were enrolled from June 2018 to January 2022, including 43 190 patients with ARTI and 64 263 patients with AGE. The positive rates of most viruses decreased during the post-COVID-19 period, with the greatest decrease for influenza A (-0.94%), followed by adenoviruses (AdV) (-61.54%), rotaviruses (-48.17%), and influenza B (-40%). However, the positive rates of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and enteric AdV increased during the post-COVID-19 period as the NPIs were relaxed. Besides this, in the summer of 2021, an unexpected out-of-season resurgence of RSV activity was observed, and the resurgence was more prominent among children older than 5 years. The effectiveness of the current relaxed NPIs in control of common respiratory and enteric viruses was variable. Relaxation of NPIs might lead to the resurgence of common viruses.
