RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Striae distensae (SD), linear scars of derma, caused by disproportionate skin stretching, which indicates a cosmetic problem and even endangers individuals' psychosocial health. Microneedling, representing a relatively new procedural therapy, has shown brightening but diverse results in the remedy of SD. Our study systematically investigates and further evaluates the efficacy of microneedling for SD. METHOD: This study was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. According to the preplanned search strategy, four electronic databases were comprehensively searched for eligible clinical controlled studies. Standardized mean difference (SMD) and odd ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals were calculated for continuous data and dichotomous data, respectively. RESULTS: According to the predetermined criteria, eleven eligible articles of six RCTs and five non-RCTs were included. Concerning clinical improvement, a significant difference was observed in the microneedle radiofrequency treatment subgroup (SMD: 0.57, 95% CI 0.20-0.94, P = 0.003). The pooled result of the second subgroup revealed that microneedling and lasers producing almost comparable effectiveness for treating SD with no significant difference (P = 0.35). The analysis result of the third subgroup of microneedling versus non-laser therapy indicated significant difference at the 5% significance level (SMD:1.01, 95% CI 0.51-1.51, P < 0.0001). With regard to patient satisfaction, the pooled estimate concluded that participants' satisfaction with therapeutic effect between MRF and laser group was comparable (P = 0.26), whereas microneedling exhibited significant superiority than both laser (P = 0.04) and non-laser treatments (SMD: 0.95, 95% CI 0.52-1.38, P < 0.0001). Occurrence of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) was not obvious in microneedling therapy compared to other treatments, and a statistically difference was observed (P = 0.0003). Microneedling treatment caused significant pain compared with laser therapy (P < 0.00001). CONCLUSION: This systematic review and meta-analysis has provided initial evidence of the efficacy and safety of microneedling technology for SD. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE II: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. RESUMO

Corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance reflects the alignment of firms with national strategies and macroeconomic development principles, and serves as a crucial foundation for achieving sustainable development. Investigating the factors driving corporate ESG performance has significant theoretical and practical implications. This study utilizes data from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies in China from 2010 to 2022 and theoretically analyzes and empirically tests the effects and mechanisms of executives' green experience on overall ESG performance and performance on each element of ESG. The results indicate that executives' green experience enhances the efficiency of corporate green patent innovation, thereby improving environmental performance. In addition, green experiences foster environmental investment and charitable donations, leading to better social performance. Executives with green experience also attract green investors and analysts' attention, thereby improving corporate governance and ultimately positively affecting overall corporate ESG performance. The robustness of these findings is confirmed through alternative variable measurements, Propensity Score Matching(PSM) Tests, Entropy Balancing Tests, Instrumental Variable Tests, and controlling for the impact of significant public health events. Further analysis revealed that the positive effects of executives' green experiences on corporate ESG performance are more pronounced in non-heavily polluting corporations, non-state-owned corporations, and firms where executives have higher power. This study enriches research on the consequences of executives' green experiences and the determinants of corporate ESG performance, extending the boundaries of how executive characteristics influence micro-level corporate outcomes. It also provides valuable references for regulatory bodies promoting ESG practices and decision-making by capital market participants.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of fractional 1064 nm picosecond Nd:YAG laser (FPNYL) in the treatment of post-acne erythema (PAE) of adult Chinese. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 22 patients received 1 session of treatment and were followed up at the eighth week. Primary outcomes were measured by the Clinician erythema assessment scale (CEAS). Secondary outcomes included a global aesthetic improvement scale (GAIS) and patients' assessment of satisfaction on a five-point scale. Pain scores and adverse effects were also evaluated. RESULTS: Twenty-two patients with Fitzpatrick skin types III and IV were enrolled in the study and completed all treatments and follow-up visits. The mean CEAS scores fell from 2.74 ± 0.80 to 1.95 ± 0.75 (p < 0.05). The mean GAIS of PAE improvement was 2.46 ± 0.68. Erythema percentile scores by VISIA increased from 32.63 ± 7.0 to 45.75 ± 11.45 (t = 5.442, p = 0). The patient satisfaction score was 1.86 ± 1.17. The pain scores were 3.27 ± 1.17 for the FPNYL treatment (varied from 2 to 6). There were moderate erythema and oedema, which last for 3.84 ± 0.78 days. There were overall 68.18% (15/22) patients who felt pruritus in different degrees and 27.27% patients who encountered acne eruptions (white head type). No scar, hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation was found. CONCLUSION: Treatment with fractional 1064 nm picosecond Nd:YAG laser is effective and safe for PAE of Chinese patients.

RESUMO

Facial esthetics is concerned with the harmonious beauty of the face. The skin, soft tissues, and bone tissues of the face degenerate as people age. Facial thread lift is a new minimally invasive esthetic technique that uses threads embedded within different tissue layers to reposition and support lax tissues. The authors report a 35-year-old female patient who developed an infection after undergoing facial thread lift, presenting with facial flushing and swelling, fever, and poor sleep, which was tested for Nocardiopsis dassonvillei infection. The patient was later cured by thread removal, local injection of 5-fluorouracil and triamcinolone acetonide. Postthreading infections have been documented in the past, but it is significant to note that, first, this patient's postinfection symptoms were distinct because she experienced both mild local symptoms and serious systemic symptoms, and second, the authors looked into a quick and efficient treatment option.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The demand for mammaplasty has increased in recent years, and infection remains one of the common and serious post-operative complications. In this study, we analyzed the pathogen distribution and antibiotic susceptibility of breast plastic surgery infections, and compared the differences in pathogenic species between surgical procedures. METHODS: The number of each species was counted in the microbial samples of breast plastic surgery infections in Plastic Surgery Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from January 2011 to December 2021. The in vitro antibiotic sensitivity testing data were analyzed using WHONET 5.6 software. The surgical techniques, the period of infection, and other details were gathered in accordance with the clinical data. RESULTS: There were a total of 42 cases included, and 43 different types of pathogenic bacteria, mostly gram-positive bacteria, were found. CoNS (13/43) and Staphylococcus aureus (22/43) made up the majority. The most prevalent of the five Gram-negative bacteria was Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Results of drug sensitivity tests indicate that S. aureus is highly sensitive to vancomycin, cotrimoxazole, and linezolid, whereas CoNS is highly sensitive to vancomycin, linezolid, and chloramphenicol. Both of these bacteria show high resistance to erythromycin and penicillin. Breast augmentation, breast reconstruction, and breast reduction surgery were the most frequently associated breast surgery procedures in this study with infections, with the highest number of infections occurring following breast augmentation with fat grafting, breast reduction surgery, and breast reconstruction with autologous tissue. Various breast plastic surgery procedures have different common pathogens of infection, but the most prevalent are CoNS and S. aureus. Additionally, the majority of the infections in this study were in the early stages. CONCLUSIONS: Gram-positive bacteria were the predominant cause of breast plastic surgery infections, and the types of infection strains, the period of infection onset, and the antibiotic susceptibility of prevalent strains varied between breast plastic procedures.

RESUMO

This paper analyzes the impact mechanism of executive poverty experience on innovation performance from the two logics of "innate endowment" and "endogenous power." It then explores the moderating role of executive characteristics, firm nature, and market competition from the perspective of heterogeneity, and finally proves the influence mechanism. Using the data of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2012 to 2020, the empirical results show that executives' poverty experience improves corporate innovation performance. Further studies find that female executives with poverty experience have a more significant impact on innovation performance. Additionally, state-owned enterprises (SOEs) weaken the positive effects of executives with poverty experiences on innovation performance. The impact of executive poverty experience on innovation performance is more significant in fierce market competition. The mediating result suggests that executive poverty experience improves innovation performance partly by inhibiting R&D manipulation. The findings remain valid through Propensity Score Matching (PSM) tests, the Heckman two-stage, and alternative indicator measures. Using the early life poverty experience of executives, this study promotes research on the factors influencing corporate innovation. It also provides empirical evidence for improving corporate innovation performance through a study of moderating effects and influencing mechanisms.
