RESUMO

Peracetic acid (PAA) is emerging as a versatile agent for generating long-lived and selectively oxidative organic radicals (R-O•). Currently, the conventional transition metal-based activation strategies still suffer from metal ion leaching, undesirable by-products formation, and uncontrolled reactive species production. To address these challenges, we present a method employing BiOI with a unique electron structure as a PAA activator, thereby predominantly generating CH3C(O)O• radicals. The specificity of CH3C(O)O• generation ensured the superior performance of the BiOI/PAA system across a wide pH range (2.0 to 11.0), even in the presence of complex interfering substances such as humic acids, chloride ions, bicarbonate ions, and real-world water matrices. Unlike conventional catalytic oxidative methods, the BiOI/PAA system degrades sulfonamides without producing any toxic by-products. Our findings demonstrate the advantages of CH3C(O)O• in water decontamination and pave the way for the development of eco-friendly water decontaminations based on organic peroxides.

RESUMO

Photosynthesis of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) by selective oxygen reduction is a green and cost-effective alternative to the energy-intensive anthraquinone process. Although inexpensive polymeric graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) exhibits the ability to produce H2O2, its disordered and amorphous structure leads to a high recombination rate of photogenerated carriers and hinders charge transfer between layers. Herein, we predict that stacked polymeric g-C3N4 with ion intercalation (K+ and I-) can improve carrier separation and transfer by multiscale computational simulations. The electronic structures of g-C3N4 were tailored and modified by intercalating K+ and I- into the layer-by-layer structures. Guided by the computational predictions, we achieved efficient solar-driven H2O2 production by employing this facile and ion-intercalated crystalline g-C3N4. An H2O2 production rate of 13.1 mM g-1 h-1 and an apparent quantum yield of 23.6% at 400 nm were obtained. The synergistic effects of crystallinity regulation and dual interstitial doping engineering triggered the formation of new light absorption centers, the establishment of rapid charge diffusion channels, and the enhancement of two-electron oxygen reduction characteristics. This work sheds light on the dual tuning of crystallinity and electronic structure and broadens the design principles of organic-conjugated polymer photocatalysts for environmental remediation and energy conservation.

RESUMO

Singlet oxygen (1O2) plays a pivotal role in numerous catalytic oxidation processes utilized in water purification and chemical synthesis. The spin-trapping method based on electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis is commonly employed for 1O2 detection. However, it is often limited to time-independent acquisition. Recent studies have raised questions about the reliability of the 1O2 trapper, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine (TEMP), in various systems. In this study, we introduce a comprehensive, kinetic examination to monitor the spin-trapping process in EPR analysis. The EPR intensity of the trapping product was used as a quantitative measurement to evaluate the concentration of 1O2 in aqueous systems. This in situ kinetic study was successfully applied to a classical photocatalytic system with exceptional accuracy. Furthermore, we demonstrated the feasibility of our approach in more intricate 1O2-driven catalytic oxidation processes for water decontamination and elucidated the molecular mechanism of direct TEMP oxidation. This method can avoid the false-positive results associated with the conventional 2D 1O2 detection techniques, and provide insights into the reaction mechanisms in 1O2-dominated catalytic oxidation processes. This work underscores the necessity of kinetic studies for spin-trapping EPR analysis, presenting an avenue for a comprehensive exploration of the mechanisms governing catalytic oxidation processes.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: We evaluated the impact of heating conventional cigarettes with a novel heated tobacco product (HTP) device on biomarkers and cigarette use patterns in Chinese adult smokers unwilling to quit smoking. METHODS: In this pilot randomized controlled trial, 50 eligible participants were allocated to either Control group (smoking conventional cigarettes) or HTP device group (switching to using heated conventional cigarettes by the HTP device). Participants in the HTP device group went through a 2-day run-in period then used heated conventional cigarettes exclusively for 5 days, followed by flexible use for 14 days. Five biomarkers of exposure (BoEs) were measured at baseline and on Day 7. Thirteen biomarkers of biological effect (BoBEs) were measured at baseline and on Day 21. Safety, daily cigarette consumption, craving, withdrawal symptoms, and device acceptability, were assessed. RESULTS: BoE levels decreased by 26.4 % to 71.4% from baseline in the HTP device group, while BoBE levels did not significantly change in either group. In the HTP group, 56% exclusively used heated conventional cigarettes during the flexible use period, experiencing reduced cravings and withdrawal symptoms, while dual users consumed more cigarettes. Mild to moderate device-related reactions were reported in 36% of users. Satisfaction, taste, and harm reduction belief scores averaged 7.4, 6.6, and 8.7 (out of 10), respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Switching to heated cigarettes with the HTP device may reduce short-term exposure to smoke toxicants. However, it can lead to increased tobacco use among dual users. Further investigation is needed to confirm these preliminary findings. IMPLICATIONS: This study is the first to evaluate the impact of heating conventional cigarettes with a novel heated tobacco product (HTP) device on health-related biomarkers and cigarette use patterns among Chinese adult smokers. This novel HTP device can directly heat conventional cigarettes without the necessity for specifically designed tobacco products, avoiding potential additive risks of traditional HTPs. If the results of this study could be further verified by randomized controlled clinical trials with larger sample sizes, this novel HTP device could serve as a short-term harm reduction alternative for smokers unwilling to quit.

RESUMO

To investigate the mechanism of action of aqueous extract of Strychni Semen(SA) on bone destruction in rats with type Ⅱ collagen-induced arthritis(CIA), the SD rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, low, medium, and high dose(2.85, 5.70, and 11.40 mg·kg~(-1)) groups of SA, and methotrexate group. Except for the normal group, the CIA model was prepared for the other groups. After the second immunization, different doses of SA were given to the low, medium, and high dose groups of SA once a day, and the methotrexate group was given once every three days. 0.3% sodium hydroxymethylcellulose(CMC-Na) was given once a day to the normal and model groups for 28 d. The clinical score of arthritis was evaluated every three days. Micro computed tomography(Micro-CT) method was used to evaluate the degree of bone destruction. Histopathological changes in the joint tissue and the number of osteoclasts in CIA rats were evaluated by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase(TRAP) staining. The expression of interleukin-1ß(IL-1ß) in the joint tissue of rats was detected by immunohistochemistry. Western blot was used to detect key protein expression in mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K/Akt) signaling pathways in the joint tissue of rats. The results showed that different doses of SA were able to improve the red and swollen inflammatory joint and joint deformity in CIA rats to varying degrees, reduce the clinical score, inhibit synovial inflammation, vascular opacification, cartilage erosion, and bone destruction, and reduce the number of TRAP-positive cells in bone tissue. Micro-CT results showed that the SA was able to increase bone mineral density, bone volume fraction, trabecular reduce, and trabecular number and reduce bone surface/bone volume and trabecular separation/spacing. Different doses of SA could down-regulate the protein expression of IL-1ß, p-JNK, p-ERK, p-p38, PI3K, and p-Akt to varying degrees. In conclusion, SA can improve disease severity, attenuate histopathological and imaging changes in joints, and have osteoprotective effects in CIA rats, and its mechanism of action may be related to the inhibition of the overactivation of MAPK and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways.

RESUMO

Bacterial strain Y-6T, isolated from a landfill site in Yiwu, PR China, was characterized using a polyphasic taxonomy approach. Cells were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, motile by means of a single polar flagellum and formed pale beige colonies. Strain Y-6T grew at 4-40 °C (optimal at 30-37 °C), pH 6.5-9.5 (optimal at pH 7.2-8.5) and in the presence of 0.5-10.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimal at 1.0-3.0 %). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that strain Y-6T was a member of the genus Aliidiomarina and closely related to Aliidiomarina taiwanensis MCCC 1A06493T with a 16S rRNA sequence similarity of 98.2 %. The major cellular fatty acids of the isolate were iso-C15 : 0, C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 and summed feature 9 (iso-C17 : 1 ω9c and/or 10-methyl-C16 : 0). Q-8 was the predominant ubiquinone. The major polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, aminoglycophospholipid, aminophospholipid, phospholipid, three glycolipids and two unknown lipids. The genomic DNA G+C content was 46.6 mol%. The digital DNA-DNA hybridization value between Y-6T and A. taiwanensis MCCC 1A06493T was 18.3 %. Strain Y-6T had an average nucleotide identity value of 74.09 % with A. taiwanensis MCCC 1A06493T. Results from the polyphasic taxonomy study support the conclusion that strain Y-6T represents a novel Aliidiomarina species, for which the name Aliidiomarina quisquiliarum sp.nov. is proposed. The type strain is Y-6T (=MCCC 1K06228T=KCTC 82676T).

RESUMO

In the realm of wastewater treatment, the power of ferrate (Fe(VI)) and peracetic acid (PAA) as oxidants stands out. But their combined might is where the enhancement truly lies. Their collaborative effect intensifies, but the underlying mechanics, especially across varying pH levels and pollutant types, still lurks in obscurity. Our study delved into the sophisticated oxidation interplay among Fe(VI)-PAA, Fe(VI)-H2O2, and standalone Fe(VI) systems. Notably, at a pH of 9.0, boasting a kinetic constant of ∼0.127 M-1·s-1, the Fe(VI)-PAA system annihilated the pollutant sulfamethoxazole, outpacing its counterparts by a staggering 48.73-fold when compared to the Fe(VI)-H2O2 system and 105.58-fold when using Fe(VI) individually. The behavior of active species─such as the dynamic •OH radicals and high-valent iron species (Fe(IV)/Fe(V))─shifted with pH variations, leading to distinct degradation pathways. Our detailed exploration pinpoints the behaviors of certain species across pH levels from 3.0 to 9.0. In more acidic environments, the •OH species proved indispensable for the system's reactivity. Conversely, as the pH inclined, degradation was increasingly steered by high-valent iron species. This intensive probe demystifies Fe(VI) interactions, deepening our understanding of the capabilities of the Fe(VI)-centered system and guiding us toward cleaner water solutions. Importantly, pH value, often underappreciated, holds the reins in organic wastewater decontamination. Embracing this key player is vital as we strategize for more expansive systems in upcoming ventures.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Developing accessible, affordable, and effective approaches to smoking cessation is crucial for tobacco control. Mobile health (mHealth) based interventions have the potential to aid smokers in quitting, and integrating treatments from multiple sources may further enhance their accessibility and effectiveness. As part of our efforts in smoking cessation, we developed a novel behavioral intervention delivery modality for smoking cessation that integrated three interventions using the WeChat app, called the "Way to Quit" modality (WQ modality). It is presented here the protocol for a randomized controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness of the WQ modality in Chinese smokers. METHODS: Eligible participants (n = 460) will be recruited via online advertisement in Beijing, China. They will be randomly assigned to receive either quitline-based treatment (QT, n = 230) or WQ modality-based treatment (WQ, n = 230) using a block randomization method. Participants in the QT group will receive telephone-assisted treatment over a four-week period (multi-call quitline protocol), while those in the WQ group will receive integrated interventions based on the WQ modality for four weeks. A four-week supply of nicotine replacement therapy (gums) will be provided to all participants. Participants will be asked to complete phone or online follow-up at 1, 3, 6, and 12-months. At 1-month follow-up, individuals with self-reported smoking abstinence for more than 7 days will be invited to receive an exhaled carbon monoxide (CO) test for biochemical validation. The primary aim is to determine whether the WQ modality is effective in assisting smokers in quitting smoking. The secondary aims are to evaluate the acceptability, satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness of the WQ modality. DISCUSSION: If the WQ modality is determined to be effective, acceptable, and affordable, it will be relatively easy to reach and provide professional cessation treatments to the communities, thus helping to reduce the disparities in smoking cessation services between different regions and socioeconomic groups. RESUMO

The unique extracellular electron transfer (EET) ability has positioned electroactive bacteria (EAB) as a major class of cellular chassis for genetic engineering aimed at favorable environmental, energy, and geoscience applications. However, previous efforts to genetically enhance EET ability have often impaired the basal metabolism and cellular growth due to the competition for the limited cellular resource. Here, we design a quorum sensing-based population-state decision (PSD) system for intelligently reprogramming the EET regulation system, which allows the rebalanced allocation of the cellular resource upon the bacterial growth state. We demonstrate that the electron output from Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 could be greatly enhanced by the PSD system via shifting the dominant metabolic flux from initial bacterial growth to subsequent EET enhancement (i.e., after reaching a certain population-state threshold). The strain engineered with this system achieved up to 4.8-fold EET enhancement and exhibited a substantially improved pollutant reduction ability, increasing the reduction efficiencies of methyl orange and hexavalent chromium by 18.8- and 5.5-fold, respectively. Moreover, the PSD system outcompeted the constant expression system in managing EET enhancement, resulting in considerably enhanced electron output and pollutant bioreduction capability. The PSD system provides a powerful tool for intelligently managing extracellular electron transfer and may inspire the development of new-generation smart bioelectrical devices for various applications.

RESUMO

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of entecavir(ETV) versus ETV maleate in Chinese patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB). This was a randomized, double-blind, double-dummy, controlled, multicentre study. Patients were randomly assigned to receive 48 weeks of treatment with 0.5 mg/day ETV (group A) or 0.5 mg/day ETV maleate (group B), then, all patients received treatment with 0.5 mg/day ETV maleate from week 49 onwards. Patients were regularly followed up. Serum hepatitis B virus (HBV) markers were detected. Adverse events (AE) were recorded. The primary endpoint was the decline in HBV DNA in each group at the end of treatment. Secondary endpoints included the rate of HBV DNA below the lower limit of detection (LLOD) (20 I U/ml) at the end of treatment, the rate of hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) loss, the rate of HBeAg seroconversion and serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) normalization. One hundred and thirty-seven (71 in group A) patients with HBeAg-positive CHB and 46 (21 in group A) patients with HBeAg-negative CHB completed the 240-week treatment and follow-up. Baseline characteristics were well balanced between the two groups. For the HBeAg-positive CHB patients, the mean HBV DNA level had similarly decreased from baseline in both groups (A: by 6.67 log10 IU/ml vs. B: by 6.74 log10 IU/ml; p > .05) at Week 240. Patients who achieved undetectable levels of serum HBV DNA (<20 IU/ml) at Week 240 were similar between groups (A:91.55% vs. B:87.88%; p > .05). Both groups achieved similar HBeAg seroconversion rates at week 240 (A:26.98% vs. B:20.97%; p > .05). Both groups achieved similar normalization of ALT (A:87.32% vs. B:83.61%; p > .05) at Week 240 (p > .05). For the HBeAg-negative CHB patients, the mean HBV DNA level had similarly decreased from baseline in both groups (A: by 6.05 log10 IU/ml vs. B: by 6.10 log10 IU/ml; p > .05) at Week 240. Patients who achieved undetectable levels of serum HBV DNA at Week 240 were similar between groups (A:100% vs. B:100%). Both groups achieved similar normalization rates (A:90.91% vs. B: 95.45%; p > .05) of ALT at Week 240 (p > .05). In conclusion, long-term ETV maleate treatment was safe and efficient in Chinese CHB predominantly of genotype B or C.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: A small number of studies suggested that air pollution was associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) exacerbation, incidence and mortality. However, no studies to date were conducted in regions where air pollution is substantial. We aimed to investigate whether there are associations between acute increases in air pollution and hospitalization of patients with a confirmed primary diagnosis of IPF in Beijing. METHODS: Daily count of IPF hospitalizations (International Classification of Disease-10th Revision, J84.1) was obtained from an administrative database for 2013-2017 while daily city-wide average concentrations of PM10, PM2.5, NO2, Ozone, SO2 were obtained from 35 municipal monitoring stations for the same period. The association between daily IPF hospitalization and average concentration of each pollutant was analyzed with a generalized additive model estimating Poisson distribution. RESULTS: Daily 24-h mean PM2.5 concentration during 2013-2017 was 76.7 µg/m3. The relative risk (RR) of IPF hospitalization per interquartile range (IQR) higher (72 µg/m3) in PM2.5 was 1.049 (95% CI 1.024-1.074) and 1.031 (95% CI 1.007-1.056) for lag0 and moving averages 0-1 days respectively. No significant associations were observed for other lags. Statistically significant positive associations were also observed at lag0 with SO2, Ozone and NO2 (in men only). Positive associations were seen at moving averages 0-30 days for PM10 (RR per 86 µg/m3: 1.021, 95% CI 0.994-1.049), NO2 (RR per 30 µg/m3: 1.029, 95% CI 0.999-1.060), and SO2 (RR per 15 µg/m3: 1.060 (95% CI 1.025-1.097), but not with PM2.5 or Ozone. CONCLUSIONS: Despite improvement in air quality since the implementation of clean air policy in 2013, acute exposure to higher levels of air pollution is significantly associated with IPF hospitalization in Beijing. Air quality policy should be continuously enforced to protect vulnerable IPF populations as well as the general public.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To retrospectively investigate the grey-scale, Doppler, contrast-enhanced and microvascular ultrasound of five patients with primary testicular lymphoma of our institute through review literature analysis. METHODS: From January to November 2020, five patients with primary testicular lymphoma confirmed by histology were preoperatively investigated with a standardized sonographic protocol including contrast-enhanced and microvascular ultrasound. RESULTS: Conventional ultrasound showed localized hypoechogenicity represented with solitary (2 of 5), multiple lesions (2 of 5), or entire testicular involvement (1 of 5). Increased blood flow appeared in color Doppler ultrasound with straight vascular sign (4 of 5). In contrast-enhanced ultrasound images confirmed this pattern (4 of 5) and presented hyper enhancement with enlarged range. On microvascular ultrasound imagings, all lesions were presented with straight and parallel course of intralesional vessels (5 of 5). CONCLUSIONS: Here, we identified an increased vascularity with enlarged range on contrast-enhanced ultrasound along with a linear nonbranching pattern by vascular sign on microvascular ultrasonographic of testicular lymphoma.

RESUMO

Based on the network pharmacology, molecular docking, and animal experiment, this study explored the anti-rheumatoid arthritis(RA) mechanism of Sophorae Tonkinesis Radix et Rhizoma(STRR). The active components of STRR were retrieved from Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform(TCMSP), Traditional Chinese Medicine Integrative Database(TCMID), and previous research, main targets of STRR from TCMSP and SwissTargetPrediction, and targets of RA from GeneCards, DrugBank, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man(OMIM), and Therapeutic Target Database(TTD). The common targets of the two were screened by Venny 2.1.0. Cytoscape 3.6.0 was used to generate the "component-target" network, and STRING and Cytoscape were used to construct the protein-protein interaction(PPI) network. DAVID 6.8 was employed for Gene Ontology(GO) term enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) pathway enrichment, and AutoDock Vina for molecular docking. Finally, collagen-induced rheumatoid arthritis(CIA) mouse model was constructed, and the expression of core target proteins was detected by Western blot. A total of 27 active components, including quercetin, genistein, kaempferol, subprogenin C, and daidzein, and 154 anti-RA targets, such as signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3), tumor necrosis factor(TNF), mitogen-activated protein kinase 1(MAPK1), AP-1 transcription factor subunit(JUN), and interleukin 6(IL6), of STRR were screened out. It was preliminarily indicated that STRR may regulate phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase-protein kinase B(PI3 K-AKT) signaling pathway and TNF signaling pathway to modulate the positive regulation of RNA polymerase Ⅱ promoter transcription, inflammatory response, and other biological processes, thus exerting the anti-RA effect. The results of molecular docking showed that the main active components in STRR had high binding affinity to the core targets. Animal experiment suggested that the water extract of STRR can significantly reduce the levels of p-STAT3, p-MAPK1, and TNF. This study demonstrated the multi-component, multi-target and multi-pathway synergistic effect of STRR in the treatment of RA, laying an experimental basis for clinical application of this medicine.

RESUMO

The advances in synthetic biology bring exciting new opportunities to reprogram microorganisms with novel functionalities for environmental applications. For real-world applications, a genetic tool that enables genetic engineering in a stably genomic inherited manner is greatly desired. In this work, we design a novel genetic device for rapid and efficient genome engineering based on the intron-encoded homing-endonuclease empowered genome editing (iEditing). The iEditing device enables rapid and efficient genome engineering in Shewanella oneidensis MR-1, the representative strain of the electroactive bacteria group. Moreover, combining with the Red or RecET recombination system, the genome-editing efficiency was greatly improved, up to approximately 100%. Significantly, the iEditing device itself is eliminated simultaneously when genome editing occurs, thereby requiring no follow-up to remove the encoding system. Then, we develop a new extracellular electron transfer (EET) engineering strategy by programming the parallel EET systems to enhance versatile EET. The engineered strains exhibit sufficiently enhanced electron output and pollutant reduction ability. Furthermore, this device has demonstrated its great potential to be extended for genome editing in other important microbes. This work provides a useful and efficient tool for the rapid generation of synthetic microorganisms for various environmental applications.

RESUMO

Dissimilatory metal-reducing bacteria (DMRB) with extracellular electron transfer (EET) capability show great potential in bioremediating the subsurface environments contaminated by uranium through bioreduction and precipitation of hexavalent uranium [U(VI)]. However, the low EET efficiency of DMRB remains a bottleneck for their applications. Herein, we develop an engineered CRISPR platform to drive the extracellular electron pumping of Shewanella oneidensis, a representative DMRB species widely present in aquatic environments. The CRISPR platform allows for highly efficient and multiplex genome editing and rapid platform elimination post-editing in S. oneidensis. Enabled by such a platform, a genomic promoter engineering strategy (GPS) for genome-widely engineering the EET-encoding gene network was established. The production of electron conductive Mtr complex, synthesis of electron shuttle flavin, and generation of NADH as intracellular electron carrier are globally optimized and promoted, leading to a significantly enhanced EET ability. Applied to U(VI) bioreduction, the edited strains achieve up to 3.62-fold higher reduction capacity over the control. Our work endows DMRB with an enhanced ability to remediate the radionuclides-contaminated environments and provides a gene editing approach to handle the growing environmental challenges of radionuclide contaminations.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore an effective algorithm based on artificial neural network to pick correctly the minority of pregnant women with SLE suffering fetal loss outcomes from the majority with live birth and train a well behaved model as a clinical decision assistant. METHODS: We integrated the thoughts of comparative and focused study into the artificial neural network and presented an effective algorithm aiming at imbalanced learning in small dataset. RESULTS: We collected 469 non-trivial pregnant patients with SLE, where 420 had live-birth outcomes and the other 49 patients ended in fetal loss. A well trained imbalanced-learning model had a high sensitivity of 19/21 ([Formula: see text]) for the identification of patients with fetal loss outcomes. DISCUSSION: The misprediction of the two patients was explainable. Algorithm improvements in artificial neural network framework enhanced the identification in imbalanced learning problems and the external validation increased the reliability of algorithm. CONCLUSION: The well-trained model was fully qualified to assist healthcare providers to make timely and accurate decisions.

RESUMO

To analyze the study advance of Strychni Semen, a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, this study systematically retrieved the related Chinese literatures about Strychni Semen from CNKI database platforms and the core database of Web of Science, and used bibliometrics and CiteSpace 5.6.R5 software to visually display the authors, research institutions, keywords and other contents. A total of 1 895 Chinese literatures and 1 599 English literatures were included in the study. The analysis of Chinese and English literature authors showed that CAI Bao-chang and CHEN Jun had the most publications on Strychni Semen, and CAI Bao-chang's team was the core research team. According to the analysis of publishing institutions, Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Academy of Science were the research institutions with the largest number of Chinese and English literatures, respectively. But there was less cooperation between Chinese and English study institutions. The analysis of keywords in Chinese and English literatures showed that the research contents of Strychni Semen mainly focused on component analysis, research methods, receptor targets, clinical application, synergistic and attenuation measures. Break analysis showed that the apoptosis induced by Strychni Semen was a hot research topic, and research on components, toxicity and pharmacokinetics will be the research hotspot in future. The research on Strychni Semen is still in the developing period. This study has provided reference for the rapid grasp of the research contents and the judgment of research hotspots.

RESUMO

To analyze the study advance of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma, this study utilized CiteSpace 5.6.R5 software to conduct bibliometrics analysis on the Chinese literatures of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma from 1990 to 2020 included in the CNKI database retrieval platform. The analysis contents involved the number of published papers, co-authors, cooperative institutions, emergence, co-occurrence and clustering of keywords. A total of 808 Chinese literatures were included in the study, of which 17 were published by SUN Rong, the author with the most published papers, and formed a research team centered on SUN Rong; the analysis of the cooperation of publishing institutions showed that the Drug Safety Evaluation Research Center, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was the organization with the largest number of publications, with a total of 29 articles. It also formed a scientific research coorperation institution with Shandong Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine as the core, and formed a relatively close cooperative network relationship. The analysis of literature keywords showed that the research direction was concentrated on the traditional Chinese medicine of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma, pharmacological mechanism, and side effects, active ingredients, etc. Among them, the research on the efficacy and toxicity of the active ingredients of Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma has become a hot trend.

RESUMO

Electrochemically active bacteria (EAB) are capable of extracellular electron transfer (EET) to insoluble metal oxides, and thus play a great role in the fields of environment, energy, and geosciences. However, rapid and accurate quantification of the EET ability of EAB is still challenging. In this work, we develop a riboflavin-based fluorescence method for facile, accurate, and in situ measurement of the EET ability of EAB. This method is successfully used to quantify the single-cellular EET ability of Geobacter sulfurreducens DL-1 (60.29 ± 13.02 fA) and Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 (2.11 ± 0.47 fA), the two widely present EAB in the environment. It also enables quantitative identification of EET-related c-type cytochromes in the outer membrane of S. oneidensis MR-1. This method provides a useful tool to rapidly identify EAB in diverse environments and elucidate their electron transfer mechanisms.

RESUMO

A highly efficient synthetic method for the preparation of 2-aminobenzothiazoles starting from arylthioureas has been reported. By using a nickel catalyst, arylthioureas undergo intramolecular oxidative C-H bond functionalization, giving the desired 2-aminobenzothiazoles in good to excellent yields. This protocol features an inexpensive catalyst, low catalyst loading, mild reaction conditions, a short reaction time, and good to excellent yields, and it can be scaled up easily to a gram scale with almost no yields decreasing.
