The present study was conducted to compare the nutritional quality and the concentration of bioactive compounds in the flours from dehusked and germinated foxtail, barnyard, and little millets. Germinated millet flours showed significantly higher protein content (11.79-33.49%), total free amino acid content (66-334.87%) and protein solubility (13.83-34%), compared to the dehusked millet flours. The total phenols and flavonoids in the flours from the three germinated millets were significantly higher by about 142.36 and 437.20%, respectively, compared to the flours from the dehusked millets. Mineral content was also found to be higher in the flours from germinated millets in comparison to the flours from dehusked millets. The results of this study showed that the flours from the germinated millets have the potential for their application in development of novel products,because of their enhanced nutritional value. The extracts from the germinated millets have the potential for use as functional ingredients in the development of novel processed fruit beverages.

Background: Hyponatremia is defined as serum sodium level <135 meq/L. It is the most common electrolyte abnormality seen in hospital admissions worldwide. The proportion is even higher in the ICU setting. A wide variety of factors influence the outcome of the hyponatremic patient. Present study is designed to approach to analyse etiology, clinical features, co-morbid factors, severity of hyponatremia, rate of correction, and impact of treatment on outcome of these diverse group of patients in ICU. Aims: 1) To find proportion of patients presenting with hyponatremia and requiring medical ICU admission in a tertiary care set up. 2) To study the etiology and clinical features of hyponatremia in patients requiring ICU admission. 3) To compare and study the effect of various factors on the outcome of hyponatremic patients in the ICU. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional observational study in tertiary care hospital. All indoor general medicine ward admissions over a period of 18 months were screened for the presence of hyponatremia and patients requiring Medical ICU care and satisfying inclusion criteria were studied. Serial serum electrolytes and urine sodium were tested for all patients in the ICU satisfying the inclusion criteria. Type of fluid given and daily correction of serum sodium of all patients were noted. Outcome was measured in terms of mortality, duration of stay in ICU, number of days required for sodium correction and complications of treatment if any. Patients were followed up till hospital discharge or death.. Results: In this study, 5.2% of total admissions had hyponatremia. Among the ICU admissions, the different symptoms attributed to hyponatremia included nausea (69.3%), malaise (80%), drowsiness (61.3%), confusion (41.3%), lethargy (24%), frequent falls (1.3%), convulsions (2.7%), altered sensorium (41.3%) and delirium (9.3%). SIADH was the most common cause of hyponatremia in these patients (32%). Serum sodium levels of patients on admission ranged from 82 - 133 meq/L, with average serum sodium being 124meq/L. Overall mortality among the hyponatremic ICU admissions was 26/75, 34.6%, which was higher than the total ICU mortality of 26% in same duration (p = 0.1). There was a significant increase in duration of stay in ICU in patients with various co-morbidities (p=0.003). There was a significant association between Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and serum sodium levels, (p = 0.002). Blood pressure and hydration status did not significantly influence outcome. Lower serum sodium on admission was associated with a lower survival (p= 0.041). Sodium correction of < 5 m eq/day was associated with an increased mortality(p = 0.04), whereas sodium correction of > 10 m eq/day was not associated with increased mortality, but an increased risk of EPM, which was seen in one patient. Conclusion: Most common cause of hyponatremia in ICU patients is SIADH. Longer duration of stay is seen in the presence of different co-morbidities. A lower GCS and a lower serum sodium on admission is associated with lower survival. Type of fluid used for hyponatremia correction did not influence the outcome. Under correction of hyponatremia in first 24 hours or inadequate correction was associated with a poorer outcome. Overcorrection was not associated with any survival benefit, but was associated with risk of EPM.

Palm-print based individual identification is regarded as an effectual method for identifying persons with high confidence. Palm-print with larger inner surface of hand contains many features such as principle lines, ridges, minutiae points, singular points, and textures. Feature based pattern matching has faced the challenge that the spatial positional variations occur between the training and test samples. To perform effective palm-print features matching, Rabin-Karp Palm-Print Pattern Matching (RPPM) method is proposed in this paper. With the objective of improving the accuracy of pattern matching, double hashing is employed in RPPM method. Multiple patterns of features are matched using the Aho-Corasick Multiple Feature matching procedure by locating the position of the features with finite set of bit values as an input text, improving the cumulative accuracy on hashing. Finally, a time efficient bit parallel ordering presents an efficient variation on matching the palm-print features of test and training samples with minimal time. Experiment is conducted on the factors such as pattern matching efficiency rate, time taken on multiple palm-print feature matching efficiency, and cumulative accuracy on hashing.

Construction industry has accomplished extensive growth worldwide particularly in past few decades. For a construction project to be successful, safety of the structures as well as that of the personnel is of utmost importance. The safety issues are to be considered right from the design stage till the completion and handing over of the structure. Construction industry employs skilled and unskilled labourers subject to construction site accidents and health risks. A proper coordination between contractors, clients, and workforce is needed for safe work conditions which are very much lacking in Indian construction companies. Though labour safety laws are available, the numerous accidents taking place at construction sites are continuing. Management commitment towards health and safety of the workers is also lagging. A detailed literature study was carried out to understand the causes of accidents, preventive measures, and development of safe work environment. This paper presents the results of a questionnaire survey, which was distributed among various categories of construction workers in Kerala region. The paper examines and discusses in detail the total working hours, work shifts, nativity of the workers, number of accidents, and type of injuries taking place in small and large construction sites.

The present study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Tactile-Kinesthetic stimulation (TKS) on level of neuromuscular maturity among pre-term infants. True-experimental pre-test -post-test research design was adopted among 60 pre-term infants by simple random sampling lottery method. The pre-term infants in the study group were given TKS thrice daily for 10 days. The pre- and post-test level of neuromuscular.maturity was assessed by using Ballard's Maturational Assessment Scale. The study revealed that there was a significant and remarkable improvement in the level of neuromuscular maturity among pre-term infants in the study group and hence, TKS signified to be an effective technique in improving the level of neuromuscular maturity among pre-term infants.

This quasi-experimental study to assess the effectiveness of essential pre-tern care module on knowledge- and skill among 60 nurses (30 each in study and 30 in control group) was conducted at Christian Fellowship Hospital, Oddanchatram. The samples were selected based on need assessment. Lecture with video show on Assessment ofpre-term infants, Care of preterm infants, Nurse focussed intervention, Transportation of pre-term infants, Prevention and treatment of minor ailments in pre-term infants. Lecture-cum-demonstration on Swaddling, Oro-motor stimulation, Tube feeding, Kangaroo Mother Care and Hand washing were given. The post-test knowledge and skill was assessed with structured questionnaire and observational checklist. The findings showed that post-test mean score of knowledge and skill in study group.was statistically signifcant atp<0.001 level. This showed that the essential preterm care module was effective in promoting knowledge and skill regarding essential preterm care among nurses.

N-S codoped TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using a sol-gel cum hydrothermal approach, with ammonium sulfate as the nitrogen and sulfur source compound. The calcination temperature was varied from 500 to 700 °C. The pristine samples exhibited a mixed phase of anatase and brookite, while the doped samples exhibited only the anatase phase, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the presence of N-H vibrations and S-O bidentate complexation with Ti4+ ions. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) revealed the presence of Ti3+ signals, confirming the creation of oxygen defects in the doped samples. The absorption and emission properties of the samples were investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. Vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) analysis confirms the room-temperature ferromagnetic behavior of the N-S doped TiO2, which was attributed to the presence of oxygen vacancies, as evidenced by the EPR and PL results. The N-S doped TiO2 samples demonstrated superior photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB), Methylene Blue (MB), and Congo Red (CR) dyes under visible light illumination compared to the pristine TiO2. This enhanced performance was attributed to the presence of N and S dopants in TiO2, which create new energy levels within the band structure of TiO2, allowing for efficient absorption of visible light and subsequent generation of reactive species for dye degradation. N-S doping modifies the electronic structure of TiO2, enhancing two-photon absorption (TPA). This increased TPA efficiency suggests promising applications in optical devices, such as laser protection systems and optical limiters. Density Functional Theory (DFT) investigation also confirms that the presence of oxygen vacancies generates energy states below the conduction band. This, in turn, benefits the absorption of more visible light during photocatalytic activities and leads to a notable nonlinear absorption in optical limiting. Overall, the N-S doping strategy significantly improves the photocatalytic and optical limiting performance of TiO2 NPs, making them promising candidates for a wide range of applications.

Background: COVID-19 infection is associated with neurological manifestations, including various types of movement disorders (MD). A thorough review of individual patients with COVID-19-induced MD would help in better understanding the clinical profile and outcome of these patients and in prognostication. Objective: We conducted an individual patient-systematic review to study the clinical and imaging profile and outcomes of patients with COVID-19-associated MD. Methods: A systematic literature search of PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases was conducted by two independent reviewers. Individual patient data COVID from case reports and case series on COVID-19-associated MD, published between December 2019 and December 2022, were extracted and analyzed. Results: Data of 133 patients with COVID-19-associated MD from 82 studies were analyzed. Mean age was 55 ± 18 years and 77% were males. A mixed movement disorder was most commonly seen (41%); myoclonus-ataxia was the most frequent (44.4%). Myoclonus significantly correlated with age (odds ratio (OR) 1.02 P = 0.03, CI 1-1.04). Tremor had the longest latency to develop after SARS-CoV-2 infection [median (IQR) 21 (10-40) days, P = 0.009, CI 1.01-1.05]. At short-term follow-up, myoclonus improved (OR 14.35, P value = 0.01, CI 1.71-120.65), whereas parkinsonism (OR 0.09, P value = 0.002, CI 0.19-0.41) and tremor (OR 0.16, P value = 0.016, CI 0.04-0.71) persisted. Conclusion: Myoclonus-ataxia was the most common movement disorder after COVID-19 infection. Myoclonus was seen in older individuals and usually improved. Tremor and parkinsonism developed after a long latency and did not improve in the short-term.

Over the past few decades, the rate of diagnosing depression and mental illness among youths in both genders has been emerging as a challenging issue in the present society. Adequate numbers of cases that have been prevailing had unheard of symptoms linked to mental depression that are able to be detected using their voice recordings and their messages in social media websites. Due to the wide spread usage of mobile phones, services and social sites emotion prediction and analyzing have been an indispensable part of providing vital care for the eminence of youth's life. In addition to dynamicity and popularity of mobile applications and services, it is really a challenge to provide an emotion prediction system that can collect, analyze, and process emotional communications in real time and as well as in a highly accurate manner with minimal computation time. Few depression prediction researchers have analyzed and examined that various social networking sites and its activities may be merged to low self-confidence, particularly in young people and adolescents. Moreover, the researchers suggest that several objective voice acoustic measures affected by depression can be detected reliably over the smart phones. And also in some observational study, it is stated that speech samples of patients from the telephone were obtained each week using an IVR system, and voice recording files from smart phones have been under process for predicting the depression. Such that several telephonic standards for obtaining voice data were identified as a crucial factor influencing the reliability and eminence of speech data. Hence, this article investigates on different process applied in different machine learning algorithms in recognizing voice signals which in turn will be used for scrutinizing the techniques for detecting depression levels in future. This will make a blooming change in the youth's life and solve the social unethical issues in hand.

Objective: Neurological emergencies saw a paradigm shift in approach during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic with the challenge to manage patients with and without COVID-19. We aimed to compare the various neurological disorders and 3 months outcome in patients with and without SARS-CoV-2 infection. Methods: In an ambispective cohort study design, we enrolled patients with and without SARS CoV-2 infection coming to a medical emergency with neurological disorders between April 2020 and September 2020. Demographic, clinical, biochemical, and treatment details of these patients were collected and compared. Their outcomes, both in-hospital and at 3 months were assessed by the modified Rankin Scale (mRS). Results: Two thirty-five patients (235) were enrolled from emergency services with neurological disorders. Of them, 81 (34.5%) were COVID-19 positive. The mean (SD) age was 49.5 (17.3) years, and the majority of the patients were male (63.0%). The commonest neurological diagnosis was acute ischemic stroke (AIS) (43.0%). The in-hospital mortality was higher in the patients who were COVID-19 positive (COVID-19 positive: 29 (35.8%) versus COVID-19 negative: 12 (7.8%), P value: <0.001). The 3 months telephonic follow-up could be completed in 73.2% of the patients (142/194). Four (12.1%) deaths occurred on follow-up in the COVID-19 positive versus fifteen (13.8%) in the COVID-19 negative patients (P value: 1.00). The 3-month mRS was worse in the COVID-19 positive group (P value <0.001). However, this was driven by higher in-hospital morbidity and mortality in COVID-19 positive patients. Conclusion: Patients with neurological disorders presenting with COVID-19 infection had worse outcomes, including in-hospital and 3 months disability.

Here we present the draft genome sequence of Setaria digitata, a parasitic nematode affecting cattle. Due to its similarity to Wuchereria bancrofti, the parasitic nematode that causes lymphatic filariasis in humans, S. digitata has been used as a model organism at the genomic level to find drug targets which can be used for the development of novel drugs and/or vaccines for human filariasis. Setaria digitata causes cerebrospinal nematodiasis in goats, sheep, and horses posing a serious threat to livestock in developing countries. The genome sequence of S. digitata will assist in finding candidate genes to use as drug targets in both S. digitata and W. bancrofti. The assembled draft genome is ∼90 Mb long and contains 8,974 genomic scaffolds with a G+C content of 31.73%.

Accurate potential energy surfaces for benzene.M complexes (M = Li+, Na+, K+, and NH4+) are obtained using coupled-cluster theory through perturbative triple excitations, CCSD(T). Our computations show that off-axis cation-pi interactions, where the cation is not directly above the aromatic ring, can be favorable and may influence molecular recognition. Even perpendicular, side-on interactions retain 18-32% of their pi-face interaction energy in the gas phase, making their bond strengths comparable to hydrogen bonds in the gas phase. Solvent effects have been explored for each complex using the polarizable continuum model.

The potential use of fresh water algae Chlorella to sorb lead ions from wastewater was evaluated in this study. Fourier transform infra-red analysis of algal species revealed the presence of amino, carboxylic, hydroxyl and carbonyl groups, which were responsible for biosorption of lead ions. Batch sorption experiments were performed to determine the effects of contact time, biosorbent dosage and pH on the adsorption of Pb2+ ions. The optimum conditions of biosorbent dosage, pH and contact time were found to be l0 g/L, 5 and 100 min respectively. The applicability of the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms for representation of the experimental data was investigated. The adsorption of lead ions on the algae Chlorella fitted well with Freundlich isotherm with a very high correlation coefficient.

Noncovalent interactions such as hydrogen bonds, van der Waals forces, and π-π interactions play important roles influencing the structure, stability, and dynamic properties of biomolecules including DNA and RNA base pairs. In an effort to better understand the fundamental physics of hydrogen bonding (H-bonding), we investigate the distance dependence of interaction energies in the prototype bimolecular complexes of formic acid, formamide, and formamidine. Potential energy curves along the H-bonding dissociation coordinate are examined both by establishing reference CCSD(T) interaction energies extrapolated to the complete basis set limit and by assessing the performance of the density functional methods B3LYP, PBE, PBE0, B970, PB86, M05-2X, and M06-2X and empirical dispersion corrected methods B3LYP-D3, PBE-D3, PBE0-D3, B970-D2, BP86-D3, and ωB97X-D, with basis sets 6-311++G(3df,3pd), aug-cc-pVDZ, and aug-cc-pVTZ. Although H-bonding interactions are dominated by electrostatics, it is necessary to properly account for dispersion interactions to obtain accurate energetics. In order to quantitatively probe the nature of hydrogen bonding interactions as a function of distance, we decompose the interaction energy curves into physically meaningful components with symmetry-adapted perturbation theory (SAPT). The SAPT results confirm that the contribution of dispersion and induction are significant at and near equilibrium, although electrostatics dominate. Among the DFT/DFT-D techniques, the best overall results are obtained utilizing counterpoise-corrected ωB97X-D with the aug-cc-pVDZ basis set.

We report time-dependent density functional theory calculations of the vertical excitation energies for the singlet states of three-coordinate 5H-dibenzoborole (DBB) derivatives and four-coordinate 5-fluoro-5H-dibenzoborole ion (FDBB) derivatives. These molecules show remarkable hypsochromic (blue) shifts in their fluorescence spectra and bathochromic (red) shifts in their absorption spectra when the bridging boron atoms change their coordination number from three to four. We constructed a series of derivatives of DBB and FDBB and studied how the energies of the electronic excitations change. The states with prominent oscillator strength in all of the DBB and FDBB derivatives show similar shifts of their excitation energies upon coordination. The three-coordinate DBB derivative 5-(2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl)-2,8-dimethoxy-3,7-bis[p-(N,N-diphenylamino)phenyl]-5H-dibenzo[d,b]borole has an intense absorption at 3.25 eV, which shifts in the four-coordinate FDBB derivative 5-fluro-5-(2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl)-2,8-dimethoxy-3,7-bis[p-(N,N-dip henylamino)phenyl]-5H-dibenzo[d,b]borole ion to 3.17 eV. The experimental absorption peaks are 3.43 and 3.31 eV, respectively. In addition, we investigated and analyzed the nature of these electronic excitations using attachment/detachment density plots, with which we characterized the changes in electron density that arose from the excitations.
