RESUMO

This paper presents the monotony state investigation of the human-operator while simulator driving by using a combination of psychophysiological testing, registration of an electrocardiogram and electroencephalogram (EEG). The appearance of specific EEG-pattern (power ascension of the theta-, alpha- and beta-rhythms) during operator activity due to the monotony state progression was revealed. We found out the reduction in health, decrease activity, the increase of the situational anxiety, and the reaction time after 90 minutes of the monotonous activity. The signs of drowsiness were detected at the rest with closed eyes after operator activity. Moreover, these negative manifestations of the monotony state were observed mainly in subjects with domination of the alpha-activity in the left hemisphere.

RESUMO

The authors present the case of diagnosis of low-grade adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, a man 34 years old, a long time to mask clinic chronic pancreatitis. Laboratory and instrumental investigations, including tumor markers CD 19-9, CEA, ultrasound, CT, MRI showed no reliable data for the presence of tumor. On the other hand, a young man of 34 years present credible evidence of chronic pancreatitis, in the form of a typical pain, a significant increase in serum am- ylase and lipase, and the presence of parenchymal and ductal signs of pancreatitis in visual research methods. Diagnosis of tumors, including obtaining morphological material, pre-operative pain relief were obtain by endoscopic methods. Histological examination of surgical specimens was detected a rare type of poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma of the pancreas tubulo-papillary structures, with predominant intraductal growth and a minimum depth of invasion due to pronounced fibrotic outcome variables, which leads to a complex disease diagnostics. After 1.5 years, after adequately performed surgery the patient was revealed metastases to the liver.

RESUMO

AIM: To examine alterations of functional connectivity (FC) of the brain in patients with frontal and temporal lobe epilepsies. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Forty-three patients, aged 18-55 years, including 32 with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and 11 with frontal lobe epilepsy (FLE), and 32 age/gender-matched healthy controls (HC) underwent structural and functional MRI on 1,5 T scanner. Imaging data were further analysed for functional connectivity characteristics by seed-based and ICA analyses. RESULTS: Most prominent in the TLE group, was a decrease in FC of insula and peri-insular cortical regions compared to HC. These alterations of FC in left-side TLE were significant on the left. An increase of FC between dorsal part of attention resting network and regions of temporal and parietal cortices characterized right-side TLE. In addition, TLE group had decreased FC between anterior cingulate and basal ganglia. All the significant alterations of FC in FLE related to increased FC in patients compared to HC. FC of temporal regions was altered to a greater extent. CONCLUSION: Localization and lateralization of seizure focus determines the alterations of brain FC in patients with focal epilepsy.

RESUMO

AIM: To reveal EEG patterns and activation of neural network changes during perception and realization of a simple motor act in healthy subjects and patients with affective disorders. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The patient group consisted of 15 people with affective disorders, the control group included 11 normals. As task subjects were asked to observe the movement of the experimenter hand (clenching of the hand), then submit this motion and then repeat it by themselves. EEG recording and EEG analysis were conducted. To identify activation areas, sLORETA method was used for solving the inverse problem of EEG. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: In patients with affective disorders, the activation of the brain mirror system occurred in the left temporal region, while in healthy people such activation was observed in the temporal lobes of the two hemispheres and in the frontal upper, middle and lower convolutions.

RESUMO

AIM: To compare neuronet restructuring in focal and generalized epilepsy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Seventy-seven patients, aged from 18 to 65 years, with the diagnosis of epilepsy, including 63 patients with focal epilepsy and 14 with generalized epilepsy, were examined. A control group included 23 healthy people. Neuronet restructuring was studied using fMRI. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: According to resting state fMRI, there were between-group differences in spatial organization (activity map) of the brain structures as well as in the results of cross-correlation analysis of interaction maps of resting-state networks. It has been concluded that functional restructuring in connectomes in focal and generalized epilepsy have the opposite patterns of disorganization (toward increase or decrease) in most structures studied though there are structures with the same direction of connectivity changes.

RESUMO

Dephosphorylated and phosphorylated heavy meromyosin, fluorescently labeled with 1,5-IAEDANS attached at the SH1 group, was introduced into myosin-free ghost fibres and the polarized fluorescence of the bound label was measured. The results depended on whether the divalent cation binding sites on heavy meromyosin were saturated with Mg2+ or Ca2+. The calculated angles of absorption and emission dipoles and the amount of random fluorophores were significantly changed, indicating that the random mobility and orientation of the fluorophores of phosphorylated and dephosphorylated heavy meromyosin heads complexed with F-actin in the ghost fibre depend on saturation of heavy meromyosin with Ca2+ or Mg2+. The presence of bound Ca2+ has an opposite effect on the polarized fluorescence of phosphorylated and dephosphorylated 1,5-IAEDANS-heavy meromyosin.

RESUMO

An investigation was made of the individual reactions of human subjects exposed to electromagnetic fields. We performed the study on 86 volunteers separated into two groups. The first group was exposed to the electromagnetic field of infralow frequencies, whereas the second group was exposed to the electromagnetic field of extremely high frequencies. We found that the electromagnetic perception of human beings correlated with their individual features, such as EEG parameters, the critical frequency of flash merging, and the electric current sensitivity. Human subjects who had a high-quality perception of electromagnetic waves showed an optimal balance of cerebral processes, an excellent functional state of the central nervous system, and a good decision criterion.

RESUMO

24 volunteers participated in the experiments. The investigation of EEG reactions to cellular phone (EMF frequency 902.4 MHz and intensity 0.06 mW/cm2) was conducted. Two experiments were performed with each subject--cellular phone exposure and Placebo Duration of the experiment was 60 min: 15 min--background; 15 min--EMF exposure or Placebo; 30 min--afterexposure. EEG was recorded in 16 standard leads with "eyes open" and "eyes closed". Special software with non-linear dynamics was developed for EEG analyses. One parameter, multichannel (global) correlation dimension, was calculated. The changes of these parameters can be evidence of brain functional state changes. As a result of EEG record processing, a significant increase of global correlation dimension during the exposure and afterexposure period was discovered, more pronounced in the case of "eyes closed". That can be viewed as the manifestation of cortex activation under phone EMF exposure.

RESUMO

An investigation was made of 8-hour EEG tracings of sleeping humans exposed to the electromagnetic field of a GSM-standard mobile phone. To analyze the EEG-patterns, manual scoring, nonlinear dynamics, and spectral analysis were employed. It was found that, when human beings were exposed to the electromagnetic field of a cellular phone, their cerebral cortex biopotentials revealed an increase in the alpha-range power density as compared to the placebo experiment. It was also found that the dimension of EEG correlation dynamics and the relation of sleep stages changed under the influence of the electromagnetic field of a mobile phone.

RESUMO

The structural changes of phalloidin-rhodamin labelled F-actin at relaxed and contracted skeletal muscle fibre containing phosphorylated myosin and at contracted state after dephosphorylation were investigated by measuring of polarized fluorescence of the fluorophore. The mechanical properties (isometric tension development) of fibre were studied in parallel. At submaximal concentration of Ca ions (0.6 mumol/l) the isometric tension was decreased after dephosphorylation of fibre myosin. The changes in polarization of fluorophore bound to actin filament were correlated with isometric tension developed by the muscle fibre. The angles between the actin filament long axis and the absorption and emission dipoles for contracted and relaxed fibre were different, suggesting changes in the organization of the actin monomers in thin filament, dependent on the physiological state of the fibre. The flexibility of the thin filaments during transition of the fibre from relaxed to "contracted" state increases as indicated by greater average angle between the F-actin long axis and the fibre axis.

RESUMO

We here present a logical mathematical model for the visual perception of movement in man; it is based on the treatment of signals in the retina in relation to time and distance and on the statistical theory of the separation of signal from noise in the visual system. It shows good agreement with experimental results and has made it possible to determine the comparative level of internal noise of the visual system, the mean rate of spread of excitation from the photoreceptors along the surface of the retina, and many other characteristics.

RESUMO

Dependence between the amplitude of tension, developed by glycerinated muscle fibers during rigidity, and the character of structural changes in F-actin, induced by the formation of actomyosin complex, was studied by polarized microfluorimetry and tensiometry. It is shown that during rigidity the anisotropy of intrinsic tryptophan residues as well as of rhodamine phalloidin bound to F-actin, and amplitude of tension depend on pH (6-8) and ionic strength (mu = 0.07 M-0.14 M) of solution. Greater changes in polarized fluorescence and in amplitude of tension were registered during rigidity in solutions with low ionic strength (mu = 0.07 M) and pH 8. It suggested that the amplitude of muscle fibre tension depends on the relative quantity of actin monomers, being in the "switched on" state.

RESUMO

A simple method for obtaining glycerinated muscle fibres of m. psoas of rabbit containing regulatory myosin light chains (LC2) of different levels of phosphorylation. The glycerination conditions stimulated endogenic kinase LC2 or phosphatase LC2. Glycerinated muscle fibres contained phosphorylated and dephosphorylated (levels of phosphorylation are 95 +/- 5%, and 5 +/- 5%, respectively) LC2 of myosin. To determine the level of phosphorylation the method of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in 8 M urea was modified.

RESUMO

The dependence of F-actin conformational changes induced by the F-actin-HMM complex on pH and ionic strength was found by polarized ultraviolet fluorescence microscopy. It is discovered that pH affects sufficiently the cooperativity of F-actin structural changes, while the ionic strength affects their depth. The actomyosin complex was supposed to be at least in two structural states, differing in their orientation as well as in flexibility of F-actin monomers.

RESUMO

In the paper the results are presented of studying of the electrical brain activity of a specific contingent of subjects which by subjective evaluations considered themselves a category of sensitives (extrasenses). The EEG of these subjects was studied in various functional states--a state of relative rest (background) during diagnostics, of directed influence on the percipient and during meditation. Specificity of spatial-temporal organization of the brain electrical processes of operators--sensitives was revealed, the structure of which correlated with the state of mind. The character of changes in the EEG of these subjects in the background and especially during autogenous activity allows to suggest the formation of a spontaneous focus of stimulation in regulatory brain systems with a leading role of the frontal cerebral regions in these processes as one of the ways of organization of cerebral functions for the regulation of the extrasensory activity.
