Diterpenoid alkaloids from the roots of Aconitum cochleare.

From the roots of Aconitum cochleare Woroschin, collected in Turkey, a new diterpenoid alkaloid named acochlearine has been isolated along with the known diterpenoid alkaloids talatisamine, 14-O-acetyltalatisamine, senbusine C and condelphine. The structure for acochlearine was established on the basis of 1H, 13C, DEPT, homonuclear 1H COSY, NOESY, HSQC and HMBC NMR studies.

Diterpenes and norditerpenes from the roots of Dorystoechas hastata.

Five compounds, two diterpenoids ferruginol (1), and 6,7-didehydrosempervirol (2) and two norditerpenoids 17-hydroxycryptotanshinone (3), przewaquinone A (4) along with a new norditerpenoid cryptotanshinone 17beta-oic acid (5) have been isolated from the roots of Dorystoechas hastata Boiss. et Heldr. ex Bentham (Lamiaceae = Labiatae) growing wild in Southwestern Turkey (Antalya).

Norditerpenoid alkaloids from the roots of Aconitum leave Royle.

From the roots of Aconitum leave Royle growing wild in Northern Pakistan, Swat district, three new alkaloids, 8-methyllycaconitine (1), 14-demethyllycaconitine (2), N-deethyllycaconitine-N-aldehyde (3) have been isolated along with four known compounds, lappaconitine (4), lycaconitine (5), lapaconidine (6) and lycoctonine (7).

Diterpenoid alkaloids from Delphinium virgatum poiret.

From the aerial parts of Delphinium virgatum Poiret, which is an endemic plant growing wildly in Turkey, a new norditerpenoid alkaloid, N-deethylperegrine alcohol, has been isolated along with the known alkaloids peregrine, peregrine alcohol, davisinol, hetisine, hetisinone and atisine.

Willipelletierine, a new diterpenoid alkaloid from Consolida scleroclada (Boiss.) Schrod.

From the aerial parts of Consolida scleroclada (Boiss.) Schrod. collected in Turkey, a new diterpenoid alkaloid named willipelletierine has been isolated along with the known diterpenoid alkaloids aconitine, lapaconidine, and delcosine. The structure for willipelletierine was established on the basis 1H, 13C, DEPT, homonuclear 1H COSY, HETCOR and NOESY NMR studies.

Diterpenoid alkaloids from the aerial parts of Aconitum anthora L.

Isolation and identification of six diterpenoid alkaloids, from Aconitum anthora L. are described. All proton detected 2D NMR techniques have been used for unambiguous 1H and 13C chemical shift assignments of guan-fu-base-Y (6). This is the first investigation of the diterpenoid alkaloids of this plant species.

Crataegus tanacetifolia leaf extract prevents L-NAME-induced hypertension in rats: a morphological study.

Crataegus (hawthorn) has long been used as a folk medicine all around the world. Most of the studies with Crataegus species focus on effects on heart failure and cardiovascular disease. The pharmacological effects of Crataegus have been attributed mainly to the content of flavonoids, procyanidin, aromatic acid and cardiotonic amines. The present study investigated the blood pressure and the structure of the coronary arterial wall of L-NAME-induced hypertensive rats given an aqueous leaf extract of C. tanacetifolia (100 mg/kg), for 4 weeks via gavage. It was observed that C. tanacetifolia, especially the hyperoside fraction, prevented L-NAME-induced hypertension in rats and had beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system.

Flavonolignans, Kaempferol 3-Sulphate and Other Flavonoids from Silybum marianum subsp. anatolicum.

Flavonolignan compounds have been isolated from the fruits of SILYBUM MARIANUM subsp. ANATOLICUM and kaempferol 3-sulphate and other flavonoid compounds have been isolated from the aerial parts and were identified. The flavonoid sulphate derivatives are shown to be present in SILYBUM genus for the first time.

Norditerpenoid and diterpenoid alkaloids from Turkish Consolida orientalis.

From the aerial parts of Consolida orientalis collected in Turkey, a new diterpenoid alkaloid designated as consorientaline has been isolated along with the known norditerpenoid alkaloids delsoline, delcosine, gigactonine, and takaosamine. The structure of consorientaline (1) was established by spectroscopic studies and chemical correlation with dihydroajaconine (2).

Eudesmanolides from Artemisia santonicum.

The reinvestigation of the aerial parts of ARTEMISIA SANTONICUM afforded, in addition to three known eudesmanolides, six new ones, all closely related to taurin. The structures were elucidated by high-field NMR spectroscopy.

Insect repellent activity of diterpenoid alkaloids.

Diterpenoid and norditerpenoid alkaloids were tested against Tribolium casteneum (Herbst.) in order to assess their repellent activity. Of 29 tested alkaloids, 21 compounds showed promising insect repellent activity, while eight of them were not found to be active. The alkaloids were obtained from Delphinium, Consolida and Aconitum species. The highest activity was found in hetisine, a diterpene alkaloid (59.37%) and the lowest activity in another diterpene alkaloid venulol (31.25%).

Diterpenoid alkaloids from Consolida oliveriana.

From the aerial parts of Consolida oliveriana (DC) Schröd. a new norditerpenoid alkaloid consolidine (2) has been isolated, in addition to the known alkaloids pubescenine (1), gigactonine, and delsoline and the diterpenoid alkaloid ajaconine (4). The structure of alkaloid 2 was established on the basis of its physical and spectroscopic data including detailed NMR studies. A detailed NMR study on ajaconine (4) resulted in the revision of 11 13C chemical shift assignments.

Diterpenoid alkaloids from Delphinium davisii.

Three new hetisane-type diterpenoid alkaloids, davisinol (6), 18-benzoyldavisinol (7), and Davisin (9) have been isolated from Delphinium davisii Munz. and their structures established by detailed spectroscopic studies. Accurate 1H- and 13C-NMR assignments have been made for kobusine (8), a related hetisane-type alkaloid, and karakoline (5), a norditerpenoid alkaloid. The known norditerpenoid alkaloids 14-acetylperegrine (4), 6-deacetylperegrine (3), and karakoline (5) and the diterpenoid alkaloids hetisine and hetisinone were also isolated.
