RESUMO

Concentrations of Na, K, Ca ions, oxalic and uric acids, total Ca, P as well as urease activity, the ability to form crystals, speed of crystallization, crystal chemical composition, pH stability were evaluated in the urine from 40 urolithiasis patients and 40 patients with recurrent nephroliths. It was found that fast or moderate crystallization, high urease activity and ability to form crystals, unstable urine pH indicate a high risk of both primary and recurrent nephrolith formation.

RESUMO

The investigation of Krebs cycle state in kidney homogenates of August rats subjected to oral intoxication with oil solution of yellow phosphorus in a dose of 0.3 mg/kg, has shown that under conditions of balanced nutrition the activity of NAD-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase, succinate dehydrogenase and accumulation of the substrate fund of the cycle decreased 3.5-fold as compared to the control. The addition of polyunsaturated fatty acids to the ration produced a positive effect on Krebs cycle state: dehydrogenase activity was not significantly changed, accumulation of Krebs cycle substrate was two-fold lower. However, this ration did not completely abolish the toxic action of yellow phosphorus on Krebs cycle.

RESUMO

The authors suggest a highly informative and unsophisticated method of gas liquid chromatography of lactic, pyruvic, oxalic, butyric, malonic, succinic, glutaric, fumaric, oxalacetic, malic, alpha-ketoglutaric, cis-aconitic, tartaric, citric and isocitric acids in the ejaculate of infertile and fertile men and in testicles of experimental animals. The method is recommended for research and clinical studies of the metabolic processes associated with the functioning of the Krebs' cycle acids in the seminal fluid of infertile patients.

RESUMO

Dynamic studies showed that the combined action of phosphine and hydrofluoric acid damages the Krebs cycle reactions, dehydrogenization of isocitrate and synthesis of citrate in homogenized rat liver. Yellow phosphorus harmed the citrate synthetic reaction of citric acid cycle in homogenized rat liver as well. That activated the alternative action principles in the cycle. The main cause of such disorders in the Krebs cycle in likely to be the abnormal fat metabolism induced by toxic products of phosphorus industry.

RESUMO

Urease activity (UA) and the ability of the urine to form crystals (AFC) were assessed in the urine from 149 urolithiasis patients and 11 healthy controls. Patients with primary uroliths had high UA and AFC in 17-18% of the cases, in recurrent urolithiasis this percentage was 29-35%. The speed of phosphate and oxalate crystals formation as well as formation of renal calculus correlated with UA and UA levels. Thus, UA and AFC may be employed as criteria in prognostication of the duration of phosphate and oxalate lithogenesis.
