RESUMO

As many as 61 patients with neurogenic syncopes were examined. Of these, 46 demonstrated well-defined signs of the hyperventilation syndrome within the structure of the clinical manifestations. The remaining 15 patients had no disorders indicated. The control group comprised 18 healthy persons. Thorough analysis of factors provoking syncopal, pre- and postsyncopal conditions, studies into the psychic and vegetative spheres including the respiratory system--all this made it possible to define a number of features characteristic of patients entering the groups under study. It has been shown that hyperventilation bears the function of the leading factor in the pathogenesis of vegetative disorders. In addition to chronic hyperventilation sequels, those disorders entail the occurrence of syncopal conditions. During treatment, of paramount importance is the correction of the impaired respiratory pattern, the reduction of neuromuscular excitability along with the use of psychotropic and vegetotropic remedies.

RESUMO

A 41-year-old patient with the rigidity syndrome was observed. The disease was expressed in marked rigidity of the long muscles of the back forming a picture of persistent hyperlordosis which led to a considerable disablement of the patient. Another complaint was spasms of the femoral muscles. A four-year follow-up of the patient revealed periodically recurring ataxia, nystagmus, and dysarthria. The patient benefited by relanium (diazepam) administration. On the basis of the literature data and a clinical analysis of this case the authors review clinical, differential-diagnostic, pathogenetic and etiological aspects of the rigidity syndrome.

RESUMO

Analysis of the psychophysiological characteristics was made in patients suffering from vegetative paroxysms of the psychogenic nature. The patients were distributed into 2 groups: group I included patients (n = 35) with a well-defined hyperventilation syndrome (HVS) in the structure of vegetative disorders, group II was made up of patients (n = 23) with the same vegetative disorders without the HVS. 20 healthy subjects served as control. The clinical and psychological assays and analysis of the vegetative characteristics including respiration revealed common mechanisms in both the groups. Besides, the patients with and without HVS manifested appreciable differences in the functioning of the cerebral systems that control the respiratory pattern.

RESUMO

The role of hyperventilation-induced shifts in the pathogenesis of different kinds of autonomic disorders (autonomic paroxysms, syncopal states, allergic signs) was investigated in 156 patients. This role should be considered in therapeutic interventions, especially in respiratory training aimed at correcting the respiratory pattern in order to achieve psychoautonomic stabilization. Distinct pathogenic mechanisms of combined hyperventilation and autonomic disorders are discussed.

RESUMO

The comparison of two groups of migrainous patients with or without hyperventilation syndrome (HS) provided the conclusions that HS provokes more severe migrainous attacks and psychovegetative symptoms in migrainous cephalalgia (MC). The findings also support the existence of stem structure disfunction in MC patients.
