RESUMO

Inverted organic solar cells (OSCs) have garnered significant interest due to their remarkable stability. In this study, the efficiency and stability of inverted OSCs are enhanced via the in situ self-organization (SO) of an interfacial modification material Phen-NaDPO onto tin oxide (SnO2). During the device fabrication, Phen-NaDPO is spin-coated with the active materials all together on SnO2. Driven by the interactions with SnO2 and the thermodynamic forces due to its high surface energy and the convection flow, Phen-NaDPO spontaneously migrates to the SnO2 interface, resulting in the formation of an in situ modification layer on SnO2. This self-organization of Phen-NaDPO not only effectively reduces the work function of SnO2, but also enhances the ordered molecular stacking and manipulates the vertical morphology of the active layer, which suppress the surface trap-assisted recombination and minimize the charge extraction. As a result, the SO devices based on PM6:Y6 exhibit significantly improved photovoltaic performance with an enhanced power conversion efficiency of 17.62%. Moreover, the stability of the SO device is also improved. Furthermore, the SO ternary devices based on PM6:D18:L8-BO achieved an impressive PCE of 18.87%, standing as one of the highest values for single-junction inverted organic solar cells to date.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Avian influenza viruses (AIVs) constitute significant zoonotic pathogens encompassing a broad spectrum of subtypes. Notably, the H4 subtype of AIVs has a pronounced ability to shift hosts. The escalating prevalence of the H4 subtype heightens the concern for its zoonotic potential, signaling an urgent need for vigilance. METHODS: During the period from December 2021 to November 2023, we collected AIV-related environmental samples and assessed them using a comprehensive protocol that included nucleic acid testing, gene sequencing, isolation culture, and resequencing. RESULTS: In this study, a total of 934 environmental samples were assessed, revealing a remarkably high detection rate (43.66%, 289/662) of AIV in the live poultry market. Notably, the H4N1 subtype AIV (cs2301) was isolated from the live poultry market and its complete genome sequence was successfully determined. Subsequent analysis revealed that cs2301, resulting from a reassortment event between wild and domesticated waterfowl, exhibits multiple mutations and demonstrates potential for host transfer. CONCLUSIONS: Our research once again demonstrates the significant role of wild and domesticated waterfowl in the reassortment process of avian influenza virus, enriching the research on the H4 subtype of AIV, and emphasizing the importance of proactive monitoring the environment related to avian influenza virus.

RESUMO

To realize a stable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) 1550-nm light source for the generation of non-classical states, a ring auto-pump-depleted singly resonant optical parametric oscillator (SRO) with the assistance of second-harmonic-wave generation (SHG) is designed and built in this Letter. A magnesium oxide doped periodically polarized lithium niobate (MgO:PPLN) crystal and a lithium triborate (LBO) crystal are employed as the optical parametric downconversion (OPDC) and SHG crystals, respectively. Especially, the introduced SHG can firstly increase the loss difference between the lasing and non-lasing modes so that the dual-mode or multi-mode coupling in the achieved SRO can be effectively eliminated and the stable SLM operation is achieved. At the same time, the SHG will automatically adjust the output coupling efficiency of SRO, so as to achieve efficient conversion efficiency and auto-pump depletion of SRO. In addition, due to the SHG, it is easy to achieve the low-intensity noise multi-wavelength output for the stable SLM SRO. As a result, the output powers of the SLM 1550 nm and 775 nm are up to 4.05 W and 3.25 W, respectively, and the total optical conversion of the built SRO can achieve 45.58%. The presented method paves a way to develop a compact stable SLM multi-wavelength SRO, and the obtained SRO is further beneficial to develop compact continuous-variable non-classical light fields.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gliomas are one of the most common primary tumors of the central nervous system, and have an unfavorable prognosis. SLC39A1 is a zinc ion transport protein which inhibits the progression of prostate cancer. By studying the role and mechanism of SLC39A1 in the progression of gliomas, perhaps a new therapeutic target can be provided for their treatment. METHOD: The TCGA, CCGA, GSE16011, GSE44971 and GSE11260 data sets were employed to evaluate the expression level of SLC39A1 in paracancerous and glioma tissues. In addition, Kaplan-Meier analysis, Cox analysis, and the ESTIMATE and CIBERSORT algorithms were used to analyze its prognostic value and immune infiltration correlation. A CCK-8 and flow cytometer were used to measure the effects of SLC39A1 on U87 cell proliferation or apoptosis; RT-qPCR and western blot were used to detect its effects on the expression of MMP2\MMP9. RESULTS: SLC39A1 has up-regulated expression in glioma tissues. High SLC39A1 expression predicted significantly worse survival. Univariate and multivariate analysis show that SLC39A1 independently indicated poor prognosis in patients with gliomas. The expression of SLC39A1 is significantly correlated with clinical pathological parameters such as Grade, IDH mutation status, and 1p19q codeletion status. In vitro experimental results show that SLC39A1 promotes proliferation of glioma cells, inhibits their apoptosis, and promotes expression of MMP2\MMP9. In addition, it may affect infiltration of immune cells into the glioma microenvironment. CONCLUSION: SLC39A1 may serve as a new prognostic biomarker and potential target for treatment of gliomas.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND SARS-CoV-2 has caused a pandemic. Control measures differ among countries. It is necessary to assess the effectiveness of these control measures. MATERIAL AND METHODS We collected the data of COVID-19 patients and control measures between January 18, 2020 and September 18, 2020 from the Changshou District and analyzed the clinical characteristics, epidemiological data, and the adjustment of policies to assess the effectiveness of control measures. The control of COVID-19 was divided into 2 stages, with the lifting of lockdown in Hubei province (March 25, 2020) as a dividing line. RESULTS We identified 32 patients through different means in the first stage. All the imported patients entered this area before the lockdown. In 93.1% of patients, the last exposure occurred before the implementation of the stay-at-home order and centralized isolation. Tracing of high-risk people and RT-PCR screening identified 56.3% of cases. In the second stage, all the high-risk people were under centralized isolation. Nine asymptomatic patients were identified. City lockdown and stay-at-home orders were not issued again, and no second-generation patients were found. CONCLUSIONS We have provided a successful model to control the transmission of COVID-19 in a short period.

RESUMO

The nanostructure of active layers consisting of donor and acceptor molecules is responsible for the separation and transfer processes of charge carriers, which may result in different photoelectric conversion efficiencies of organic photovoltaic cells (OPVCs). Therefore, intensive study on the relationships among nanostructures, intermolecular interactions, and molecular chemical skeletons is necessary for preparing controlled nanostructures of active layers by designing photovoltaic molecules. In this research, the self-assembled nanopatterns of three (DPP-ZnP-E)2-based molecules on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite surface were probed by scanning tunneling microscopy and analyzed by density functional theory calculations. The results indicated that different bridges, diethynylene, diethynylene-dithienyl, and diethynylene-phenylene, in (DPP-ZnP-E)2-based molecules not only made a difference to intermolecular interactions and cooperated with molecule-substrate interactions, consequently affecting the packed nanopattern, but also influenced the adsorption of fullerene acceptors in the nanopatterns of (DPP-ZnP-E)2-based molecules. C60 molecules were found to be selectively adsorbed atop the dithienyl groups of (DPP-ZnP-E)2-2T donor molecules probably by S···π interactions compared with (DPP-ZnP-E)2 or (DPP-ZnP-E)2-Ph molecules. This study on the assembled nanopatterns of the three (DPP-ZnP-E)2-based molecules would be conductive to (DPP-ZnP-E)2-based optoelectronic materials design in OPVCs.

RESUMO

Spontaneous tumor regression can be observed in many tumors, however, studies related to the altered expression of lncRNA in spontaneous glioma regression are limited, and the potential contributions of lncRNAs to spontaneous glioma regression remain unknown. To investigate the biological roles of lncRNA-135528 in spontaneous glioma regression. The cDNA fragment of lncRNA-135528 was obtained by rapid-amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) technology and cloned into the plvx-mcmv-zsgreen-puro vector. Additionally, we stably silenced or overexpressed lncRNA-135528 in G422 cells by transfecting with siRNA against lncRNA-135528 or lncRNA-135528 overexpression plasmid. Then, we examined lncRNA-135528 overexpressing and lncRNA-135528 silencing on glioma cells and its effects on CXCL10 and JAK/STAT pathways. The main findings indicated that lncRNA-135528 promoted glioma cell apoptosis, inhibited cell proliferation and arrested cell cycle progression; the up-regulation of lncRNA135528 led to significantly increased CXCL10 levels and the differential expression of mRNA associated with JAK/STAT pathway in glioma cells. lncRNA-135528 can inhibit tumor progression by up-regulating CXCL10 through the JAK/STAT pathway.

RESUMO

The nanostructure of bulk heterojunction in an organic solar cell dominating the electron transport process plays an important role in improving the device efficiency. However, there is still a great need for further understanding the local nanostructures from the viewpoint of molecular design because of the complex alignment in the solid film. In this work, four kinds of photovoltaic materials containing a diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) unit combined with other different building blocks were selected and their self-assembled structures on a solid surface were studied by scanning tunneling microscopy technique in combination with theory calculations. The results reveal these DPP-based photovoltaic molecules self-assembled into different nanostructures, which strongly depend on the chemical structure, in particular the backbones and alkyl side chains. The planarities of backbones are affected both by molecule-substrate interaction and steric hindrance induced by the substituted thiophene or benzo[ b]thiophene units on DPP and porphyrin building blocks. The substituted branched alkyl side chains are out of the plane, which are influenced by the alignments of molecular backbones. In addition, the solution concentration also shows a large effect on the self-assembled nanostructures. This systematic research on the self-assembled structures of DPP-based semiconductors on a surface would provide guidance for designing materials and controlling the morphology of a donor/acceptor heterojunction system.

RESUMO

A novel, ultrahigh-sensitivity wide-range resonant micro-accelerometer using two differential double-clamped monolayer graphene beams is designed and investigated by steady-state simulation via COMSOL Multiphysics software in this paper. Along with stiffness-enhanced optimized folded support beams, two symmetrical 3-GPa prestressed graphene nano-beams serve as resonant sensitive elements with a size of 10 µm × 1 µm (length × width) to increase the acceleration sensitivity while extending the measurement range. The simulation results show that the accelerometer with cascade-connected graphene and proof-mass assembly exhibits the ultrahigh sensitivity of 21,224 Hz/g and quality factor of 9773 in the range of 0⁻1000 g. This is remarkably superior to previously reported studies characterized by attaching proof mass to the graphene components directly. The proposed accelerometer shows great potential as an alternative to quartz and silicon-based resonant sensors in high-impact and highly sensitive inertial measurement applications.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: The past decade has provided striking insights into a newly identified subset of B cells known as regulatory B cells (Bregs). In addition to producing antibody, Bregs also regulate diseases via cytokine production and antigen presentation. This subset of B cells has protective and potentially therapeutic effects. However, the particularity of Bregs has caused some difficulties in conducting research on their roles. Notably, human B10 cells, which are Bregs that produce interleukin 10, share phenotypic characteristics with other previously defined B cell subsets, and currently, there is no known surface phenotype that is unique to B10 cells. METHODS: An online search was performed in the PubMed and Web of Science databases for articles published providing evidences on the role of regulatory B cells in digestive system diseases. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Abundant evidence has demonstrated that Bregs play a regulatory role in inflammatory, autoimmune, and tumor diseases, and regulatory B cells play different roles in different diseases, but future work needs to determine the mechanisms by which Bregs are activated and how these cells affect their target cells.

RESUMO

By utilizing single-molecule defocused wide-field fluorescence microscopy, we have investigated the molecular structural properties such as transition dipole moment orientations and the angular relationship among chromophores, as well as structural distortions and flexibilities depending on the ring size, in a series of cyclic porphyrin arrays bearing close likeness in overall architectures to the LH2 complexes in purple bacterial photosynthetic systems. Furthermore, comparing the experimental results with molecular dynamics simulations, we ascertained site selection for fluorescent trapping sites. Collectively, these experimental and computational results provide the basis for structure-property relationships and energy hopping/emitting processes in an important class of artificial light-harvesting molecular systems widely used in molecular electronics technology.

RESUMO

We designed and synthesized the DPPEZnP-TEH molecule, with a porphyrin ring linked to two diketopyrrolopyrrole units by ethynylene bridges. The resulting material exhibits a very low energy band gap of 1.37 eV and a broad light absorption to 907 nm. An open-circuit voltage of 0.78 V was obtained in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) organic solar cells, showing a low energy loss of only 0.59 eV, which is the first report that small molecule solar cells show energy losses <0.6 eV. The optimized solar cells show remarkable external quantum efficiency, short circuit current, and power conversion efficiency up to 65%, 16.76 mA/cm(2), and 8.08%, respectively, which are the best values for BHJ solar cells with very low energy losses. Additionally, the morphology of DPPEZnP-TEH neat and blend films with PC61BM was studied thoroughly by grazing incidence X-ray diffraction, resonant soft X-ray scattering, and transmission electron microscopy under different fabrication conditions.

RESUMO

A miniature Fabry-Perot interferometric sensor with an ultra-high temperature sensitivity was constructed by using an approximate 8-layer graphene diaphragm. The extremely thin diaphragm was transferred onto the endface of a ferrule with an inner diameter of 125 µm, and van der Waals interactions between the graphene diaphragm and its substrate created a low finesse Fabry-Perot interferometer with a cavity length of 42.86 µm. Temperature testing demonstrated a temperature-induced cavity length change of 352 nm/°C with a good linearity in the range of 20-60 °C. The result conformed well to the proposed analytical models relating to thermal expansion of trapped gas, thermal-optical property of graphene diaphragm and deflection behavior of bulged graphene blister. However, the ultra-thin diaphragm exhibited a small deflection deformation characteristic due to the applied higher loads.

RESUMO

High-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) protein is a nuclear non-histone DNA-binding protein. It is released into the extracellular milieu and mediates inflammatory responses, which contribute to the pathogenesis of numerous inflammatory diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). An online search was performed in PubMed and Web of Science databases for articles providing evidence on the role of HMGB1 in IBD. HMGB1 plays an important role in IBD pathogenesis. Application of HMGB1 antagonists reduced inflammatory reactions and ameliorated colitis in rodent models, which may provide new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of IBD.

RESUMO

The interactions between the electron donors and electron acceptors (D/A) play important roles for the performance of organic solar cells (OSCs). While the isomerization strategy is known to optimize molecular geometries and properties, the impacts of isomerization on the donors or acceptors in D/A interactions have not been extensively investigated. Here in, we innovatively investigated the impacts of donor isomerism on the D/A interactions by synthesizing two small molecule donors m-ph-ZnP2 and p-ph-ZnP2 by linking two functionalized porphyrins at the meta and para positions of phenyl groups, respectively. Compared with p-ph-ZnP2, m-ph-ZnP2 displays reduced self-aggregation but  with PC61BM. Consequently, a much higher power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.43% is achieved for the m-ph-ZnP2 binary OSCs than the p-ph-ZnP2 devices with a PCE of 2.03%. The enhanced performance of m-ph-ZnP2-based device can be primarily attributed to the stronger intramolecular charge transfer (ICT), the enhanced D/A interactions, the improved charge transfer, and the suppressed charge recombination. Furthermore, the ternary devices based on m-ph-ZnP2:Y6:PC61BM achieve a PCE of 8.34%. In short, this work elucidates the relationship among the chemical structure, D/A interactions and device performance, providing valuable guidelines for designing efficient OSCs materials.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to explore the causal relationship between Antibody-Mediated Immune Response (AIR) and female infertility using Mendelian randomization analysis, providing new targets and insights for treating female infertility. METHODS: Exposure data from a genome-wide association study (GWAS) involving 9724 participants provided information on 46 types of AIR. Outcome data were sourced from a large-scale meta-analysis of female infertility, which included 899 cases and 246,641 controls. Five different Mendelian randomization analysis methods were used to assess the genetic causal relationship between AIR and female infertility, with the inverse variance-weighted method as the primary approach. The robustness of the study results was evaluated through heterogeneity analysis, pleiotropy tests, and leave-one-out validation. Replication and meta-analysis were conducted using FinnGen data to further identify AIR. RESULTS: Through rigorous genetic variant screening, IVW, sensitivity analysis, replication, and meta-analysis, the results indicate that only seropositivity of anti-polyomavirus 2 IgG shows significant evidence of association with female infertility. The reverse MR analysis did not reveal a genetic causal association between female infertility and this antibody-influencing relationship. Sensitivity analysis showed no evidence of pleiotropy or heterogeneity. Replication and meta-analysis using FinnGen data further supported that only anti-polyomavirus 2 IgG seropositivity has a significant association with female infertility. CONCLUSION: Using Mendelian randomization analysis in two independent samples, this study presents evidence of a genetic association between anti-polyomavirus 2 IgG seropositivity and female infertility. These findings carry significant implications for the prevention and treatment of female infertility in clinical practice.

RESUMO

Objective: The causal relationship and mechanisms between lipids and glioblastoma (GBM) remain unclear. This study aims to investigate the independent causal relationship between liposomal phosphatidylcholine 16:0_22:6 (PC16) and GBM, and to identify the potential mediating role of the inflammatory factor-fibroblast growth factor 21(FGF21). Methods: Utilizing summary statistics from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of lipids (179 types in 7174 Finnish individuals), GBM (243 cases and 287137 controls), and inflammatory factors (91 types in 14824 European individuals), a two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) approach was employed to establish the causal link between liposomal PC16 and GBM. Additionally, a two-step MR method was used to quantify the proportion of the causal effect of PC16 on GBM that is mediated by the inflammatory factor FGF21. Results: MR analyses revealed a strong causal relationship between PC16 and GBM (OR=1.72, 95% CI: 1.11-2.68, P=0.016), but no reverse causality was observed from GBM to PC16 (OR=1.01, 95% CI: 0.99-1.02, P=0.38). Mediation analysis showed a strong causal relationship between PC16 and the FGF21 (OR = 0.94, 95% CI: 0.89-0.99, P=0.018) as well as between FGF21 and GBM (OR = 0.42, 95% CI: 0.25-0.71, P=0.001), with the mediation effect accounting for 9.78% of the total effect. This suggests that the causal relationship between PC16 and GBM is likely mediated by the intermediary factor FGF21. No evidence of pleiotropy was found in the sensitivity analysis of these positive results. Conclusion: In summary, the findings of this study suggest that liposomal PC16 may increase the risk of GBM occurrence, and FGF21 may play a significant mediating role in this causal relationship.

RESUMO

Porphyrins and their derivatives possess high molar extinction coefficients and strong electron-donating abilities and have been widely used in organic solar cells (OSCs). Though porphyrins can be easily functionalized at the four meso-positions and the eight ß-positions, nearly all porphyrin photovoltaic materials are reported to be functionalized at the meso-positions, and the porphyrin photovoltaic materials functionalized at the ß-positions are to be explored. Herein, the regioselective ß-positions of a porphyrin are first brominated without using rare metal iridium catalysts, and then, after two more reactions, two antipodal ß-substituted porphyrin donors EHDPP-Por and BODPP-Por are synthesized, in which four DPP (diketopyrrolopyrrole) units are connected symmetrically with acetylene at four of the ß-positions, for OSCs. The all-small-molecule organic solar cells based on EHDPP-Por:Y6 and BODPP-Por:Y6 active layers achieved power conversion efficiencies of 10.19 and 10.99%, respectively, which are higher than most of the binary OSCs based on the porphyrins functionalized at the meso-positions, demonstrating that ß-functionalized porphyrins are very promising for OSCs.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided Percutaneous Transhepatic Biliary Drainage (PTCD) for the treatment of Acute Obstructive Suppurative Cholangitis (AOSC) combined with septic shock due to choledocholithiasis, and its effect on inflammatory factors. METHODS: Clinical data of 86 patients with AOSC and septic shock admitted to our hospital between January 2019 and May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed and grouped according to different treatment methods. Among them, 43 patients who underwent Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Nasobiliary Drainage (ENBD) were included in the Control Group (CNG), and 43 patients who underwent ultrasound-guided PTCD were included in the Study Group (SG). RESULTS: The total effective rate in the SG (88.37%) was higher than that in the CNG (69.77%) (p < 0.05); after surgery, the serum inflammatory factors PCT, IL-6, TNF-α, CRP levels, liver function indicators such as TBIL, DBIL, AST, ALT levels, and stress response indicators including NPY, PGE2, 5-HT levels were reduced, and were lower in the SG than in the CNG (p < 0.05); postoperatively, CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ levels in the CNG were significantly lower than those before surgery (p < 0.05); Postoperatively, CD3+, CD4+, and CD4+/CD8+ levels in the SG were significantly higher than those in the CNG (p < 0.05); and the complication rate in the SG (6.98%) was lower than that in the CNG (25.58%) (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Ultrasound-guided PTCD for AOSC combined with septic shock can facilitate the recovery of liver and immune functions with a low complication rate.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gliomas are one of the most common primary malignant tumors of the central nervous system, and have an unfavorable prognosis. Even combining precise surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the survival rate is still unsatisfactory. Chemotherapy resistance is one of main reasons for its adverse prognosis. As shown by several studies, glioma stem cells (GSCs) were correlated with radiotherapy/chemotherapy resistance and high relapse rate. This study aimed to find a new biomarker related to GSCs and chemotherapy resistance. METHODS: TCGA, CGGA, GSE16011, GSE23806 and GDSC datasets were used to screen the genes related to GSCs, Temozolomide (TMZ) resistance, and survival. In the TCGA, GTEx, GSE16011 and CGGA datasets, mRNA level, prognostic value, and correlation with immune infiltration in the selected genes were analyzed through methods including Kaplan-Meier analysis, Cox analysis, the ESTIMATE algorithm, and the CIBERSORT algorithm. The expression of COL6A2 mRNA and protein in different groups was detected by RT-qPCR and western blot. A MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to measure the effect of COL6A2 on proliferation and apoptosis of glioma cells. RESULTS: COL6A2 was positively correlated with glioma stemness and TMZ resistance. Its expression was up-regulated in GBM, and high expression was correlated with adverse prognosis. As shown by Cox analysis, COL6A2 was an independent prognostic factor for glioma. COL6A2 mRNA was increased with the glioma grade. It was over-expressed in MGMT non-methylation and IDH wild-type specimens. The results of in vitro experiments showed that COL6A2 promots proliferation of glioma cells and inhibits their apoptosis. Meanwhile, the expression of COL6A2 in TMZ-resistant glioma cells was significantly higher than that in ordinary glioma cells. As shown by GO and KEGG pathway analysis, COL6A2 was correlated with glioma proliferation, migration, invasion, and immunity. In particular, it was significantly positively correlated with PD-1, PD-L2, PD-L1, B7-H3, CTLA-4, IDO1 and TIM-3 expression, further verifying that it may play an important role in immune response. In addition, COL6A2 might influence immune cell infiltration in the glioma microenvironment. CONCLUSION: COL6A2 high-expression is an indicator for adverse glioma prognosis, and is correlated with TMZ-resistant and immune response.
