RESUMO

Research on graphene-related two-dimensional (2D) materials (GR2Ms) in recent years is strongly moving from academia to industrial sectors with many new developed products and devices on the market. Characterization and quality control of the GR2Ms and their properties are critical for growing industrial translation, which requires the development of appropriate and reliable analytical methods. These challenges are recognized by International Organization for Standardization (ISO 229) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC 113) committees to facilitate the development of these methods and standards which are currently in progress. Toward these efforts, the aim of this study was to perform an international interlaboratory comparison (ILC), conducted under Versailles Project on Advanced Materials and Standards (VAMAS) Technical Working Area (TWA) 41 "Graphene and Related 2D Materials" to evaluate the performance (reproducibility and confidence) of the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) method as a potential new method for chemical characterization of GR2Ms. Three different types of representative and industrially manufactured GR2Ms samples, namely, pristine few-layer graphene (FLG), graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO), were used and supplied to ILC participants to complete the study. The TGA method performance was evaluated by a series of measurements of selected parameters of the chemical and physical properties of these GR2Ms including the number of mass loss steps, thermal stability, temperature of maximum mass change rate (Tp) for each decomposition step, and the mass contents (%) of moisture, oxygen groups, carbon, and impurities (organic and non-combustible residue). TGA measurements determining these parameters were performed using the provided optimized TGA protocol on the same GR2Ms by 12 participants across academia, industry stakeholders, and national metrology institutes. This paper presents these results with corresponding statistical analysis showing low standard deviation and statistical conformity across all participants that confirm that the TGA method can be satisfactorily used for characterization of these parameters and the chemical characterization and quality control of GR2Ms. The common measurement uncertainty for each parameter, key contribution factors were identified with explanations and recommendations for their elimination and improvements toward their implementation for the development of the ISO/IEC standard for chemical characterization of GR2Ms.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Glutamatergic dysfunction has been implicated in sensory integration deficits in schizophrenia, yet how glutamatergic function contributes to behavioural impairments and neural activities of sensory integration remains unknown. METHODS: Fifty schizophrenia patients and 43 healthy controls completed behavioural assessments for sensory integration and underwent magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) for measuring the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) glutamate levels. The correlation between glutamate levels and behavioural sensory integration deficits was examined in each group. A subsample of 20 pairs of patients and controls further completed an audiovisual sensory integration functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) task. Blood Oxygenation Level Dependent (BOLD) activation and task-dependent functional connectivity (FC) were assessed based on fMRI data. Full factorial analyses were performed to examine the Group-by-Glutamate Level interaction effects on fMRI measurements (group differences in correlation between glutamate levels and fMRI measurements) and the correlation between glutamate levels and fMRI measurements within each group. RESULTS: We found that schizophrenia patients exhibited impaired sensory integration which was positively correlated with ACC glutamate levels. Multimodal analyses showed significantly Group-by-Glutamate Level interaction effects on BOLD activation as well as task-dependent FC in a 'cortico-subcortical-cortical' network (including medial frontal gyrus, precuneus, ACC, middle cingulate gyrus, thalamus and caudate) with positive correlations in patients and negative in controls. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that ACC glutamate influences neural activities in a large-scale network during sensory integration, but the effects have opposite directionality between schizophrenia patients and healthy people. This implicates the crucial role of glutamatergic system in sensory integration processing in schizophrenia.

RESUMO

Molecules based on benzimidazolone-dioxazine are known as blue/violet pigments and have been commercialized for decades. However, unfavorable solubility limits the application of these structures as building blocks of conjugated polymers despite their low band gaps. Herein, a series of donor-acceptor conjugated polymers containing soluble benzimidazolone-dioxazine structures as the acceptors and oligothiophene as donors are synthesized and investigated. With increasing numbers of thiophene rings, the steric hindrance diminishes and high molecular weight polymers can be achieved, leading to an improved performance in organic field effect transistor devices. The hole mobility of polymers with three to six thiophene units is in the order of 10-1 cm2 V-1 s -1 . Among all the polymers, polymer P3 with three thiophene units between benzimidazolone-dioxazine structures shows the best hole mobility of 0.4 cm2 V-1 s -1 . Grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering results reveal that the high mobility of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) can be accredited by matched donor-acceptor packing in the solid thin films.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to develop a 5-year overall survival prediction model for patients with oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma based on machine learning methods. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The data were obtained from electronic medical records of 224 OTSCC patients at the PLA General Hospital. A five-year overall survival prediction model was constructed using logistic regression, Support Vector Machines, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Extreme Gradient Boosting, and Light Gradient Boosting Machine. Model performance was evaluated according to the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic curve. The output of the optimal model was explained using the Python package (SHapley Additive exPlanations, SHAP). RESULTS: After passing through the grid search and secondary modeling, the Light Gradient Boosting Machine was the best prediction model (AUC = 0.860). As explained by SHapley Additive exPlanations, N-stage, age, systemic inflammation response index, positive lymph nodes, plasma fibrinogen, lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio, neutrophil percentage, and T-stage could perform a 5-year overall survival prediction for OTSCC. The 5-year survival rate was 42%. CONCLUSION: The Light Gradient Boosting Machine prediction model predicted 5-year overall survival in OTSCC patients, and this predictive tool has potential prognostic implications for patients with OTSCC.

RESUMO

The powder process is dynamic at the microscale level. Due to the capillary effect, the viscous attraction of the liquid phase between particles alters the strength and stability of wet granular materials. In this paper, experiments on the rupture behavior of the funicular liquid bridge between three rigid spheres have been presented. The results show that the peak force and rupture distance of the funicular liquid bridges are affected by the size and relative position of the spheres, volume and viscosity of the liquid, and separation rate; the coalescence of the liquid bridges causes a decrease in peak force and an increase in rupture distance, and the rupture distance shows a nonmonotonic functional correlation with the separation rate. Finally, an empirical equation of the correlation between the rupture distance and liquid volume is proposed, whose rationality is verified by comparing it with the results of the existing models.

RESUMO

Hubs in the brain network are the regions with high centrality and are crucial in the network communication and information integration. Patients with schizophrenia (SCZ) exhibit wide range of abnormality in the hub regions and their connected functional connectivity (FC) at the whole-brain network level. Study of the hubs in the brain networks supporting complex social behavior (social brain network, SBN) would contribute to understand the social dysfunction in patients with SCZ. Forty-nine patients with SCZ and 27 healthy controls (HC) were recruited to undertake the resting-state magnetic resonance imaging scanning and completed a social network (SN) questionnaire. The resting-state SBN was constructed based on the automatic analysis results from the NeuroSynth. Our results showed that the left temporal lobe was the only hub of SBN, and its connected FCs strength was higher than the remaining FCs in both two groups. SCZ patients showed the lower association between the hub-connected FCs (compared to the FCs not connected to the hub regions) with the real-life SN characteristics. These results were replicated in another independent sample (30 SCZ and 28 HC). These preliminary findings suggested that the hub-connected FCs of SBN in SCZ patients exhibit the abnormality in predicting real-life SN characteristics.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Alteration of empathy is common in patients with psychiatric disorders. Reliable and valid assessment tools for measuring empathy of clinical samples is needed. The Questionnaire of Cognitive and Affective Empathy (QCAE) is a newly-developed instrument to capture cognitive and affective components of empathy. This study aimed to validate the QCAE and compared self-reported empathy between clinical groups with varied psychiatric diagnoses and healthy sample. METHODS: The present study performed factor analysis for the QCAE on clinical samples in the Chinese setting (n = 534), including patients with schizophrenia (n = 158), bipolar disorder (n = 213) and major depressive disorder (n = 163). Internal consistency, internal correlation and convergent validity was examined in the subsample (n = 361). Group comparison among patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and healthy controls (n = 107) was conducted to assess the discriminant validity. RESULTS: Our results indicated acceptable factor model, good reliability and validity of the QCAE. Impaired cognitive empathy was found in clinical samples, especially in patients with schizophrenia, while higher affective empathy was found in patients with bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder. CONCLUSION: The QCAE is a useful tool in assessing empathy in patients with varied psychiatric diagnoses.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Mothers with lifelong care responsibilities might involuntarily be non-employed or work part-time, both of which are defined as "underemployment." This study aimed to investigate who these underemployed mothers are and what are the factors associated with such employment hardship when having a child with intellectual disability (ID). METHOD: An interview survey was conducted in 2011 in two local authorities of Taiwan on 876 working-age mothers with a child with intellectual disability; 514 of them were working part-time/non-employed and chosen as participants of this study. RESULTS: The mothers with a younger child with intellectual disability, a higher level of education, a lower level of family income and more family members with disabilities were more likely to be underemployed compared with the mothers who were voluntarily working part-time/non-employed. CONCLUSIONS: The underemployed mothers were more likely to have financial difficulty and heavy caregiving loads; their employment hardship should be of concern for policymakers.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The universal breadwinner model means both parents are employed; while the universal caregiver model implies that the father's hours of caregiving are equal or higher to those of the mother. This study aims to examine the hypothesis that the universal caregiver model is more related to the overall well-being of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities than the universal breadwinner model. METHODS: Face-to-face interview surveys were conducted in 2011 in Taiwan with 876 working-age mothers who had an offspring with intellectual disabilities. The survey included 574 mothers living with their husbands who became our participants. RESULTS: Both anova and regression analyses indicated that, compared with mothers in the universal breadwinner group, mothers in the universal caregiver group had higher levels of maternal marital and family life satisfaction, but not of work satisfaction and quality of life. CONCLUSIONS: An incentive policy is critical for supporting the fathers involved in lifelong caregiving and to promote the mothers' quality of life.

RESUMO

Studies comparing the sexual attitudes of men and women with intellectual disabilities (ID) have been limited. A mixed-methods approach was employed to explore attitudes toward sexuality among men and women with ID in Taiwan and to ascertain the disparities between attitudes among men and women with ID. First, fifty-six men and forty-four women with mild and moderate ID completed a face-to-face interview survey. After this, focus groups were conducted for men and women with ID. Results indicated that women with ID were more likely to have negative attitudes toward parenting and non-reproductive sexual behavior than their male counterparts. Qualitative data indicated that men and women with ID had different sexual attitudes and experiences and were subject to different expectations from people around them. Both men and women with ID had very limited opportunities to develop romantic relationships and a healthy sexual identity. Sexual rights awareness and practice should be matters of concern for this group of adults and women with ID in particular.

RESUMO

Warfarin is the most frequently prescribed anticoagulant for the long-term treatment in the clinic. Recent studies have shown that polymorphic alleles within the CYP2C9, VKORC1, and CYP4F2 genes are related to the warfarin dosage requirement. In this study, a novel non-synonymous mutation (1009C>A) in CYP2C9 was detected in a warfarin-hypersensitive patient, while the other two candidate genes were both found to be homozygous for the wild-type alleles. The newly identified point mutation results in an amino acid substitution at position 337 of the CYP2C9 protein (P337T) and has been designated as the novel allele CYP2C9*58. When expressed in insect cell microsomes, the relative intrinsic clearance values of the CYP2C9.58 variant for tolbutamide and losartan were quite similar to those of the typical defective variant CYP2C9.3, whereas the clearance value of CYP2C9.58 for diclofenac was slightly higher than that of another typical defective variant CYP2C9.2. These data suggested that when compared with wild-type CYP2C9.1, the enzymatic activity of the novel allelic variant has been greatly reduced by the 1009C>A mutation. If patients carrying this allele take drugs metabolized by CYP2C9, their metabolic rate might be slower than that of wild-type allele carriers and thus much more attention should be paid to their clinical care.

RESUMO

Disulfidptosis a new cell death mode, which can cause the death of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) cells. However, the significance of disulfidptosis-related Long non-coding RNAs (DRLs) in the prognosis and immunotherapy of HCC remains unclear. Based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, we used Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) and Cox regression model to construct DRL Prognostic Signature (DRLPS)-based risk scores and performed Gene Expression Omnibus outside validation. Survival analysis was performed and a nomogram was constructed. Moreover, we performed functional enrichment annotation, immune infiltration and drug sensitivity analyses. Five DRLs (AL590705.3, AC072054.1, AC069307.1, AC107959.3 and ZNF232-AS1) were identified to construct prognostic signature. DRLPS-based risk scores exhibited better predictive efficacy of survival than conventional clinical features. The nomogram showed high congruence between the predicted survival and observed survival. Gene set were mainly enriched in cell proliferation, differentiation and growth function related pathways. Immune cell infiltration in the low-risk group was significantly higher than that in the high-risk group. Additionally, the high-risk group exhibited higher sensitivity to Afatinib, Fulvestrant, Gefitinib, Osimertinib, Sapitinib, and Taselisib. In conclusion, our study highlighted the potential utility of the constructed DRLPS in the prognosis prediction of HCC patients, which demonstrated promising clinical application value.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Aberrant keratinocytes differentiation has been demonstrated to be associated with a number of skin diseases. The roles of lncRNAs in keratinocytes differentiation remain to be largely unknown. OBJECTIVE: Here we aim to investigate the role of lnc-DC in regulating epidermal keratinocytes differentiation. METHODS: Expression of lnc-DC in the skin was queried in AnnoLnc and verified by FISH. The lncRNA expression profiles during keratinocytes differentiation were reanalyzed and verified by qPCR and FISH. Gene knock-down and over-expression were used to explore the role of lnc-DC in keratinocytes differentiation. The downstream target of lnc-DC was screened by whole transcriptome sequencing. CUT&RUN assay and siRNAs transfection was used to reveal the regulatory effect of GRHL3 on lnc-DC. The mechanism of lnc-DC regulating ZNF750 was revealed by RIP assay and RNA stability assay. RESULTS: Lnc-DC was biasedly expressed in skin and up-regulated during epidermal keratinocytes differentiation. Knockdown lnc-DC repressed epidermal keratinocytes differentiation while over-express lnc-DC showed the opposite effect. GRHL3, a well-known transcription factor regulating keratinocytes differentiation, could bind to the promoter of lnc-DC and regulate its expression. By whole transcriptome sequencing, we identified that ZNF750 was a downstream target of lnc-DC during keratinocytes differentiation. Mechanistically, lnc-DC interacted with RNA binding protein IGF2BP2 to stabilize ZNF750 mRNA and up- regulated its downstream targets TINCR and KLF4. CONCLUSION: Our study revealed the novel role of GRHL3/lnc-DC/ZNF750 axis in regulating epidermal keratinocytes differentiation, which may provide new therapeutic targets of aberrant keratinocytes differentiation related skin diseases.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Little is known about how middle-aged and older women with intellectual disability (ID) cope with life transitions such as perimenopause and postmenopause. METHOD: A mixed methods approach was employed to explore the attitudes toward and experiences of menopause among women with ID and their family carers in one city in Taiwan. RESULTS: A survey found that how the carers perceived the level of menopausal symptoms in their female family members with ID was affected by their attitudes toward menopause; and carer age and education were significant factors associated with carer menopausal attitudes. The results of in-depth interviews indicated the carers' gender, age, kinships with the women with ID, and the carers' own menopausal experiences were related to how the carers felt about the menopausal transition of the women with ID. CONCLUSIONS: Both quantitative and qualitative findings show that little attention has been paid to either the menopausal transition experiences or the wellbeing of women with ID.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical application values of five-color flow cytometry for leukocyte differential count in peripheral blood. METHODS: Leukocyte differentiation in 265 peripheral blood samples collected at Peking University First Hospital from September 2010 to December 2010 was detected by standard microscopic cytology as a reference method. Meanwhile, Beckman-Coulter LH750 hematology analyzer and FC500 flow cytometer were performed. Then the correlations were analyzed between microscopic cytology, hematology analyzer and flow cytometry. Forty blood samples collected at Peking University First Hospital, Beijing Daopei Hospital and General Hospital of Beijing Military Command from August 2010 to November 2010 were analyzed by standard microscopic cytology, Beckman-Coulter LH750 hematology analyzer and NAVIOS flow cytometer. Then the correlations between microscopy, hematology analyzer and flow cytometry were explored to analyze the clinical diagnostic efficiency of flow cytometry. RESULTS: Correlation of leukocyte differential count between FC500 flow cytometer and standard microscopic cytology was significant (all P < 0.01) . And it was superior in the detection of lymphocytes, neutrophils and eosinophils (r = 0.955, 0.928, 0.876). Moreover, the correlation of leukocyte differential count between NAVIOS flow cytometer via manual gate and standard microscopic cytology was significant (r > 0.700, all P < 0.01) except for basophils. And it was superior in the detection of neutrophils, lymphocytes and blasts (r = 0.950, 0.915, 0.852). When 1% was set as the cut-off value of immature granulocytes on standard microscopic cytology, the sensitivity and specificity of flow cytometry was 87% and 76% respectively. When 0.5% was set as the cut-off value of blasts on standard microscopic cytology, the sensitivity and specificity of flow cytometry stood at 100% and 92% respectively. CONCLUSION: Five-color flow cytometry is well-correlated with standard microscopic cytology for leukocyte differential count in peripheral blood with different flow cytometers, and the sensitivity of detecting blasts and immature granulocytes is very excellent.

RESUMO

Purpose: HIV-infected immunological non-responders (INRs) failed to achieve the normalization of CD4+ T cell counts despite their undetectable viral load. INRs have an increased risk of clinical progressions of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and non-AIDS events, accompanied by higher mortality rates than immunological responders (IRs). This study aimed to discover the genes, which help to distinguish INRs from IRs and explore the possible mechanism of INRs. Methods: Screening DEGs between INRs and IRs using GEO microarray dataset GSE143742. DEG biological functions were investigated using GO and KEGG analysis. DEGs and WGCNA linked modules were intersected to find common genes. Key genes were identified using SVM-RFE and LASSO regression models. ROC analysis was done to evaluate key gene diagnostic effectiveness using GEO database dataset GSE106792. Cytoscape created a miRNA-mRNA-TF network for diagnostic genes. CIBERSORT and flow cytometry examined the INRs and IRs immune microenvironments. In 10 INR and 10 IR clinical samples, diagnostic gene expression was verified by RT-qPCR and Western blot. Results: We obtained 190 DEGs between the INR group and IR group. Functional enrichment analysis found a significant enrichment in mitochondria and apoptosis-related pathways. CD69 and ZNF207 were identified as potential diagnostic genes. CD69 and ZNF207 shared a transcription factor, NCOR1, in the miRNA-mRNA-TF network. Immune microenvironment analysis by CIBERSORT showed that IRs had a higher level of resting memory CD4+ T cells, lower level of activated memory CD4+ T cells and resting dendritic cells than INRs, as confirmed by flow cytometry analysis. In addition, CD69 and ZNF207 were correlated with immune cells. Experiments confirmed the expression of the diagnostic genes in INRs and IRs. Conclusion: CD69 and ZNF207 were identified as potential diagnostic genes to discriminate INRs from IRs. Our findings offered new clues to diagnostic and therapeutic targets for INRs.

RESUMO

Objective: The Chinese version of 15-item negative symptom assessment (NSA-15) is an instrument with a three-factor structure specifically validated for assessing negative symptoms of schizophrenia. To provide a reference for future practical applications in the recognition of schizophrenia patients with negative symptoms, this study aimed to determine an appropriate NSA-15 cutoff score regarding negative symptoms to identify prominent negative symptoms (PNS). Methods: A total of 199 participants with schizophrenia were recruited and divided into the PNS group (n = 79) and non-PNS group (n = 120) according to scale for assessment of negative symptoms (SANS) scores. Receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the optimal NSA-15 cutoff score for identifying PNS. Results: The optimal cutoff NSA-15 score for identifying PNS was 40. Communication, emotion and motivation factors in the NSA-15 had cutoffs of 13, 6, and 16, respectively. The communication factor score had slightly better discrimination than scores on the other two factors. The discriminant ability of the global rating of the NSA-15 was not as good as that of the NSA-15 total score (area under the curve (AUC): 0.873 vs. 0.944). Conclusion: The optimal NSA-15 cutoff scores for identifying PNS in schizophrenia were determined in this study. The NSA-15 provides a convenient and easy-to-use assessment for identifying patients with PNS in Chinese clinical situations. The communication factor of the NSA-15 also has excellent discrimination.

RESUMO

Chronic wounds seriously affect the quality of life of the elderly, obese people, and diabetic patients. The excessive inflammatory response is a key driver of delayed chronic wound healing. Although lavender essential oil (EO [lav]) has been proven to have anti-inflammatory and accelerate wound curative effects, the specific molecular mechanism involved is still ambiguous. The results showed that the wounds treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) not only had delayed healing, but also the expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß), and the inflammatory mediator protein, high-mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB-1), in the wound tissues were significantly increased. However, treatment of LPS-induced chronic wounds with EO (lav) accelerated wound healing and decreased IL-1ß and HMGB-1 expression levels. It was further found that LPS induced macrophage pyroptosis to produce IL-1ß. After treatment with EO (lav), the expression level of macrophage pyroptosis marker Gasdermin D (GSDMD) and pyroptosis-related cytotoxic effects were significantly reduced. Immunofluorescence results also directly indicate that EO (lav) can protect macrophages from LPS-induced pyroptosis. Moreover, EO (lav) can down-regulate expression levels of IL-1ß, GSDMD, and nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) in the caspase-11-related pyroptotic signaling pathway. This study demonstrates that EO (lav) can reduce proinflammatory factor production and ameliorate inflammatory response by inhibiting macrophage pyroptosis, which accelerates LPS-induced chronic wound healing.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate the incidence and prevalence of uveitis in Taiwan, and then analyzed the risk factors related to uveitis using multivariate regression. DESIGN: Population-based cohort study using medical claims data. PARTICIPANTS: We randomly selected 1 000 000 residents from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database. All participants with correct registry data (96%) were included in the study. The study period was from 2000 to 2008. METHODS: All types of uveitis were identified using the International Classification of Diseases, 9th revision, Clinical Modification diagnostic codes. The annual incidence and cumulative prevalence of uveitis were calculated. A univariate and a multivariate Poisson regression were used to determine the risk factors associated with uveitis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The first diagnosis of uveitis noted during the study period. RESULTS: The annual cumulative incidence rate of uveitis ranged from 102.2 to 122.0 cases per 100 000 persons over the study period, and the average incidence density was 111.3 cases per 100 000 person-years (95% confidence interval, 108.4-114.1). The cumulative prevalence was found to have increased from 318.8 cases per 100 000 persons in 2003 to 622.7 cases per 100 000 persons in 2008. Anterior uveitis was the most common location and accounted for 77.7% of all incident cases, which was followed by panuveitis, posterior uveitis, and intermediate uveitis. Multivariate regression analysis showed that males, the elderly, and individuals who lived in an urban area had higher incidence rates for uveitis. CONCLUSIONS: The epidemiology of uveitis in Taiwan differs from most previous studies in other countries. The incidence of uveitis in Taiwan has increased significantly recently. The elderly and individuals living in urban areas are the populations that are most commonly affected by uveitis. These findings are consistent with suggestions found in several recent studies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Whether employed and nonemployed mothers of children with intellectual disability (ID) have different experiences with reconciliation between care and work has rarely been explored. METHOD: A survey was conducted in a county in Taiwan and 487 mothers aged younger than 65 and having a child with ID were interviewed face to face at their homes to explore whether there are different factors related to the reconciliation between care and work among employed and nonemployed mothers. RESULTS: Except for the common ground of mothers' health and care demands, logistic regression revealed work flexibility and care support were important for employed mothers. In contrast, the success of reconciliation for nonemployed mothers was determined by their individual characteristics (i.e., age, marital status, family income). CONCLUSIONS: Reconciliation policies for mothers with different employment statuses need to use different strategies.
