RESUMO

A simple, two-step procedure to convert α,α-difluorinated H-phosphinic acids into the corresponding H-phosphinothioates is described. The usefulness of these species is demonstrated by their transformation into difluorinated phosphinothioyl radicals and their addition onto alkenes. Additionally, sequential treatment of H-phosphinothioates by a strong base and a primary alkyl iodide constitutes an alternate route to the formation of the C-P bond. Both methods efficiently deliver difluorinated phosphinothioates. Similar reactions carried out with the fully oxygenated counterparts clearly indicate the superiority of the sulfur-based species and emphasize the crucial role played by sulfur in the construction of the second C-P bond. Oxidation easily transforms the thereby obtained phosphinothioates into the corresponding phosphinates. The whole strategy is applied to the stereoselective preparation of dinucleotide analogues featuring either a difluorophosphinothioyl or a difluorophosphinyl unit linking the two furanosyl rings.

RESUMO

The preparation of new organosoluble Lewis acidic polyoxometalates (POMs) is reported. These complexes were prepared by the incorporation of Zr, Sc, and Y atoms into the corresponding monolacunary Dawson [P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) and Keggin [PW(11)O(39)](7-) polyoxotungstates. The catalytic activity of these compounds was evaluated for C-C bond formation in the Diels-Alder, Mannich, and Mukaiyama-type reactions. Comparisons with previously described Lewis acidic POMs are reported. Competitive reactions between imines and aldehydes or between various imines demonstrated that fine tuning of the reactivity could be reached by varying the metal atom incorporated into the polyanionic framework. A series of experiments that employed pyridine derivatives allowed us to distinguish between the Lewis and induced Brønsted acidity of the POMs. These catalysts activate imines in a Lewis acidic way, whereas aldehydes are activated by indirect Brønsted catalysis.

RESUMO

[reaction: see text] Copper-mediated cross-coupling reactions of sulfoximines with aryl iodides and aryl bromides provide N-arylated sulfoximines in high yields. The method is complementary to the known palladium-catalyzed N-arylation and allows the preparation of N-arylated sulfoximines, which have previously been inaccessible.

RESUMO

Oligothiophene-Bodipy-based donor-acceptor systems for light harvesting have been synthesized and characterized. Absorption, excitation, and emission spectra indicate a tuneable and efficient resonance energy transfer from quaterthiophene as donor to mono- and bis-Bodipy as acceptors. This shows that engineering tuneable light harvesting systems is possible based on the combination of oligothiophenes with one or two Bodipy(s).

RESUMO

Lanthanide complexes of the chiral Dawson phosphotungstate [alpha(1)-P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) were used to study the formation of diastereomers with optically pure organic ligands. The present work started with the full assignment of the (183)W NMR spectra of [alpha(1)-Yb(H(2)O)(4)P(2)W(17)O(61)](7-) at different temperatures and concentrations, which allowed the structure of the dimerized form in aqueous solution to be established. Different enantiopure amino acids and phosphonic acids were screened as ligands. Both types allowed chiral differentiation by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy under fast-exchange conditions. Functional groups with a good affinity for the oxo framework of the polyoxometalate were identified, and maps of the interactions between L-serine and N-phosphonomethyl-L-proline with [alpha(1)-Yb(H(2)O)(4)P(2)W(17)O(61)](7-) were established. This demonstrates the power of (183)W NMR spectroscopy to elucidate the molecular recognition of inorganic molecules by organic compounds. N-Phosphonomethyl-L-proline appears to be a convenient ligand to promote separation of the diastereomers and ultimately resolution of the enantiomers of [alpha(1)-Yb(H(2)O)(4)P(2)W(17)O(61)](7-).

RESUMO

Monolacunary polyoxotungstates [alpha(1)-P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) and [alpha-PW(11)O(39)](7-) react with HfCl(4) to yield [alpha(1)-HfP(2)W(17)O(61)](6-) and [alpha-Hf(OH)PW(11)O(39)](4-), isolated as organo-soluble tetrabutylammonium (TBA) salts. Subsequent analyses, including mass spectrometry, show that they are stronger Lewis acids than (TBA)(5)H(2)[alpha(1)-YbP(2)W(17)O(61)]. The new polyoxotungstates catalyze Lewis acid mediated organic reactions, such as Mukaiyama aldol and Mannich-type additions. In particular, reactions with aldehydes, which were impossible with lanthanide polyoxotungstates, are made possible. Thus these modifications of the polyoxometalate composition allowed fine tuning of the Lewis acidity. The catalysts could be easily recovered and reused.

RESUMO

The development of C1-symmetric aminosulfoximines, their highly modular synthesis, and their application in enantioselective copper-catalyzed Mukaiyama-type aldol reactions between pyruvates and enolsilanes is described. In this context, the influence of the ligand architecture as well as the optimization of the reaction conditions are discussed. In detail, the dependence of the catalyst efficiency on the solvent, the metal source and the temperature are reported, and an interesting additive effect is highlighted. Furthermore, the substrate scope will be presented. With the optimized catalyst system, a number of aldol products with quaternary stereogenic centers have been obtained in high yields and with enantiomeric excesses up to 99 %.

RESUMO

Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria innocua are able, under certain conditions, to produce chemiluminescence (CL), which is amplified by luminol. Kinetic studies of CL by L. monocytogenes and L. innocua show a close parallelism between CL and growth curves during the exponential phase, with a maximum of CL reached just before entrance of bacteria into the stationary phase. CL is tightly correlated with the release of oxygen compounds. The reactive oxygen species scavengers tryptophan, mannitol, and tiron, as well as cellobiose and high temperature, were assessed with regard to CL in the two Listeria species. Only tiron strongly reduced the CL emitted by L. monocytogenes and L. innocua. On the other hand, charcoal pretreatment of the growth medium inhibited the CL, whereas ferric citrate strongly increased the CL of L. monocytogenes and L. innocua. These data suggest that iron and superoxide radical are implicated in the CL produced by these bacteria, but this phenomenon is not correlated to virulence.
