RESUMO

Antimony selenide (Sb2 Se3 ) is a highly promising photovoltaic material thanks to its outstanding optoelectronic properties, as well as its cost-effective and eco-friendly merits. However, toxic CdS is widely used as an electron transport layer (ETL) in efficient Sb2 Se3 solar cells, which largely limit their development toward market commercialization. Herein, an effective green Cd-free ETL of SnOx is introduced and deposited by atomic layer deposition method. Additionally, an important post-annealing treatment is designed to further optimize the functional layers and the heterojunction interface properties. Such engineering strategy can optimize SnOx ETL with higher nano-crystallinity, higher carrier density, and less defect groups, modify Sb2 Se3 /SnOx heterojunction with better interface performance and much desirable "spike-like" band alignment, and also improve the Sb2 Se3 light absorber layer quality with passivated bulk defects and prolonged carrier lifetime, and therefore to enhance carrier separation and transport while suppressing non-radiative recombination. Finally, the as-fabricated Cd-free Mo/Sb2 Se3 /SnOx /ITO/Ag thin-film solar cell exhibits a stimulating efficiency of 7.39%, contributing a record value for Cd-free substrate structured Sb2 Se3 solar cells reported to date. This work provides a viable strategy for developing and broadening practical applications of environmental-friendly Sb2 Se3 photovoltaic devices.

We investigated the mining mode of insect feeding, involving larval consumption of a plant's internal tissues, from the Middle Jurassic (165 million years ago) Daohugou locality of Northeastern China. Documentation of mining from the Jurassic Period is virtually unknown, and results from this time interval would address mining evolution during the temporal gap of mine-seed plant diversifications from the previous Late Triassic to the subsequent Early Cretaceous. Plant fossils were examined with standard microscopic procedures for herbivory and used the standard functional feeding group-damage-type system of categorizing damage. All fossil mines were photographed and databased. We examined 2014 plant specimens, of which 27 occurrences on 14 specimens resulted in eight, new, mine damage types (DTs) present on six genera of bennettitalean, ginkgoalean, and pinalean gymnosperms. Three conclusions emerge from this study. First, these mid-Mesozoic mines are morphologically conservative and track plant host anatomical structure rather than plant phylogeny. Second, likely insect fabricators of these mines were three basal lineages of polyphagan beetles, four basal lineages of monotrysian moths, and a basal lineage tenthredinoid sawflies. Third, the nutrition hypothesis, indicating that miners had greater access to nutritious, inner tissues of new plant lineages, best explains mine evolution during the mid-Mesozoic.

Hypersonic target detection based on infrared intensity characteristics is easily disturbed by sea surface and cloud flares when detected by space-based optical systems, which results in a low detection rate, high false alarm, and difficulty in stable detection. This paper explores a method to improve target detection performance based on the correlation of infrared radiation, multi-spectral and polarization. Firstly, the comprehensive factors that influence complex ambient illumination, atmospheric transmission, and clutter background on spectral-polarization characteristics of hypersonic targets are analyzed. Based on the global radiation scattering theory, the temperature distribution model of the hypersonic target is established by using FLUENT. The polarization emission and pBRDF model of the target is established, and the radiation polarization transfer model is generated. Secondly, the sea surface temperature distribution is obtained by inversion of Landsat8 remote sensing data. The radiation polarization transfer model of the sea surface is established based on the Cox-Munk model combined with pBRDF and the polarization emission model. Thirdly, the polarization scattering effect of atmospheric particles on the upward radiation of the interaction of the target with the sunlight is considered comprehensively, and the 6SV radiative transfer model is used to calculate the polarization effect of atmospheric particles on the upward radiation transmission of the target and the background. Then, combined with the point diffusion of the optical system and the photoelectric conversion of the detector, the multi-dimensional full-chain imaging prediction model of the hypersonic target-sea background-ambient atmosphere-optical system-detector is established. The imaging characteristics and detection performance of the target in different imaging dimensions are simulated and analyzed with the signal-to-clutter ratio (SCR). The research shows that in the direction of reflected sunlight from the sea surface, the sea surface glare is suppressed and the target is highlighted through a target detection method of multi-dimensional information. This method has better detection results than the infrared multi-spectral detection method.

Insects have evolved complex sensory systems that are important for feeding, defence and reproduction. Parasitoid wasps often spend much time and effort in searching for concealed hosts with the help of specialized sensilla. However, the early evolution of such behaviour and sensilla is poorly known. We describe two fossil female wasps, †Tichostephanus kachinensis sp. nov. and †Tichostephanus longus sp. nov., from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber. Phylogenetic analyses based on morphological data retrieved †Tichostephanus as deeply nested within Evanioidea and closely related to extant Gasteruptiidae and Evaniidae. Both of these Cretaceous wasps possess features, e.g. coronal tubercles and flexible ovipositor sheaths, that indicate that they might have laid eggs in wood where their larvae possibly parasitized insect larvae. They have a peculiar and unique 'bottle brush' of sensilla close to the apex of their ovipositor sheaths, which has not been observed in any extant parasitoid wasps. These sensilla comprise many regularly arranged plate-shaped setae, attached in relatively large sockets and with rows of longitudinal ridges. Such specialized sensilla perhaps served to enhance the ability to detect hosts inside wood.

The study aimed to explore the pathogenesis of secondary frozen shoulder and its influence on synovium tissue and angiogenesis by constructing a rat secondary frozen shoulder model along with transforming growth factor. 40 healthy male rats aged 8 weeks were divided into Sham group (n=10, no modeling treatment), Control group (n=10, modeling treatment), Low group (n=10, modeling treatment, and 10 mL/d transforming growth factor), and High group (n=10, modeling treatment, and 20 mL/d transforming growth factor). Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) method was used for histological detection, and Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemical staining method were adopted to detect the expression of Matrix metalloproteinase-14 (MMP-14), mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38MAPK), and Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Compared with Sham group, the range of abduction and external rotation of rat glenohumeral joint in Control group, Low group, and High group was significantly reduced, and High group had the smallest range. Compared with the Sham group, the synovium in the Control group, the Low group, and the High group had obvious hyperplasia, and the blood vessels were significantly increased. Immunohistochemical staining and RT-PCR results showed that compared with Sham group, MMP-14, p38 MAPK, and VEGF in Control group, Low group, and High group all increased significantly, among which High group increased most. The secondary frozen shoulder is mainly manifested as synovial hyperplasia and increased blood vessels, which are related to the induction of MMP-14, p38 MAPK, and VEGF by transforming growth factor, which reveals the pathogenesis of secondary frozen shoulder to a certain extent, and lays a foundation for subsequent clinical treatment of secondary frozen shoulder.

BACKGROUND: Phasmatodea (stick and leaf insects) play a central role on the debate regarding wing reduction and loss, and its wings are putative reacquisition from secondarily wingless ancestors based solely on extant species. A pivotal taxon in this respect is the species-poor Timematodea, consisting of approximately 21 wingless extant species, which form the sister group of all remaining winged or wingless stick and leaf insects, the Euphasmatodea. RESULTS: Herein, the new fossils of Timematodea from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber are reported, with winged and wingless species co-occurring. The palaeogeographic distributions of all fossils of Holophasmatodea are summarized, showing their wide paleo-distributions. The phylogenetic analysis based on morphological characters confirms the earliest-diverging lineage of winged Breviala cretacea gen. et sp. nov. in Timematodea, and the possible relationships among all families of Holophasmatodea. These are critical for the reconstruction of patterns of wing evolution in early Phasmatodea. CONCLUSIONS: The new fossils suggest that Timematodea once had wings, at least during the mid-Cretaceous. The palaeogeographic occurrences imply that Timematodea probably have been widely distributed since at least the Jurassic. The phylogenetic analysis with the ancestral-state reconstruction of wings indicates that the common ancestors of Holophasmatodea were winged, the reductions and losses of wings among Timematodea and Euphasmatodea have occurred independently since at least the Cretaceous, and the reduction or loss of the forewing earlier than the hind wings.

BACKGROUND: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has excellent accuracy in diagnosing preoperative lesions before anal fistula surgery. However, MRI is not good in identifying early recurrent lesions and effective methods for quantitative assessment of fistula healing are still warranted. This retrospective study aimed to develop and validate a specific MRI-based nomogram model to predict fistula healing during the early postoperative period. METHODS: Patients with complex cryptoglandular anal fistulas who underwent surgery between January 2017 and October 2020 were included in this study. MRI features and clinical parameters were analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis. A nomogram for predicting fistula healing was constructed and validated. RESULTS: In total, 200 patients were included, of whom 186 (93%) were male, with a median age of 36 (18-65) years. Of the fistulas, 58.5% were classified as transsphincteric and 19.5% as suprasphincteric. The data were randomly divided into the training cohort and testing cohort at a ratio of 7:3. Logistic analysis revealed that CNR, ADC, alcohol intake history, and suprasphincteric fistula were significantly correlated with fistula healing. These four predictors were used to construct a predictive nomogram model in the training cohort. AUC was 0.880 and 0.847 for the training and testing cohorts, respectively. Moreover, the decision and calibration curves showed high coherence between the predicted and actual probabilities of fistula healing. CONCLUSIONS: We developed a predictive model and constructed a nomogram to predict fistula healing during the early postoperative period. This model showed good performance and may be clinically utilized for the management of anal fistulas.

This study investigated that dieckol (DKL), a natural drug, inhibits colon cancer cell proliferation and migration by inhibiting phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (AKT), and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) phosphorylation in HCT-116 cells. The cells were treated with DKL in various concentrations (32 and 50 µM) for 24 h and then analyzed for various experiments. MTT (tetrazolium bromide) and crystal violet assay investigated DKL-mediated cytotoxicity. Dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate staining was used to assess the reactive oxygen species (ROS) measurement, and apoptotic changes were studied by dual acridine orange and ethidium bromide staining. Protein expression of cell survival, cell cycle, proliferation, and apoptosis protein was evaluated by western blot analysis. Results indicated that DKL produces significant cytotoxicity in HCT-116, and the half-maximal inhibitory concentration was found to be 32 µM for 24-h incubation. Moreover, effective production of ROS and enhanced apoptotic signs were observed upon DKL treatment in HCT-116. DKL induces the expression of phosphorylated PI3K, AKT, and mToR-associated enhanced expression of cyclin-D1, proliferating cell nuclear antigen, cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)-4, CDK-6, and Bcl-2 in HCT-116. In addition, proapoptotic proteins such as Bax, caspase-9, and caspase-3 were significantly enhanced by DKL treatment in HCT-116. Hence, DKL has been considered a chemotherapeutic drug by impeding the expression of PI3K-, AKT-, and mTOR-mediated inhibition of proliferation and cell cycle-regulating proteins.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the effect of endplate reduction on the final healing morphology and degenerative changes in intervertebral discs. METHODS: Forty-eight patients with single-level thoracolumbar fractures with endplate injury were included. All patients underwent posterior reduction and pedicle screw fixation, and postoperative imaging was used to determine whether endplate reduction was successful. The healing morphology of the endplate was divided into three types: increased endplate curvature, irregular healing and traumatic Schmorl node. MRI was performed at baseline and at the last follow-up evaluation to observe changes in disc degeneration (disc height and nucleus pulposus signal) and Modic changes. RESULTS: The reduction rate in the central area was significantly lower than that in the peripheral area (P = 0.017). In patients with successful reduction, 90.9% (20/22) of the endplates healed with increased curvature. In patients with an unsuccessful endplate reduction, 63.4% (26/41) of the endplates healed irregularly, and 34.1% (14/41) of the endplates formed traumatic Schmorl nodes. Endplate reduction was closely related to the final healing morphology of the endplate (P < 0.001), which had a significant protective effect on the degeneration of the intervertebral disc. At the last follow-up evaluation, there was no statistically significant correlation between different endplate healing morphologies and new Modic changes. CONCLUSIONS: The reduction rate in the central area is significantly lower than that in the peripheral area. Although all of the intervertebral discs corresponding to fractured endplates had degenerated to different degrees, successful endplate fracture reduction can obviously delay the degeneration of intervertebral discs.

Triclosan (TCS) is omnipresent in the environment and has drawn increasing attention due to its potential adverse effects on human health. Direct photolysis of TCS readily occurs, especially in the surface layers of waters that receive abundant ultraviolet radiation during the daytime. However, biological concerns and the identification of toxic products during TCS photolysis have been explored limitedly. Therefore, in the present work, the structural characterization of the photolysis products by UVC and UVA were performed based on the mass spectra and fragmental ions. The results displayed that TCS was more readily eliminated by UVC than UVA, and the product species were completely different when TCS was degraded by UVC and UVA, respectively. Two products, m/z 235 and m/z 252, were produced via reductive dechlorination and nucleophilic substitution with UVC, while three dioxin-like isomer products were generated by dechlorination, cyclization and hydroxylation. Furthermore, the results of biological concerns suggested that the elimination of TCS did not represent the disappearance of biological risks. Specifically, more hazardous and photolysis products were formed during TCS photolysis with ultraviolets. For instance, the dioxin-like isomer products were highly microtoxic and genotoxic, and mildly antiestrogenic. The positive findings highlighted the biological concerns of TCS photolysis by ultraviolet radiation in the aquatic environment.

Global ecosystem services (ESs) are experiencing a significant decline, necessitating the development of robust environmental governance policies. To address the lack of integrated planning with heavy industry as the research object and a lack of knowledge of ES trade-offs and synergies in China's ecological and environmental governance. In this study, the spatial and temporal variations of four ESs (water yield (WY), soil conservation (SC), carbon storage (CS), and habitat quality (HQ)) were determined in the study area of Liaoning Province. Explore the mechanisms that shape ecosystem service trade-offs and synergies and the factors that influence them. Spearman's correlation and difference analyses were proposed to determine the spatial and temporal distributions of trade-offs and synergistic relationships among ESs. In addition, we constructed a multiscale geo-weighted regression (MGWR) model to investigate driver spatial heterogeneity affecting trade-offs and synergies. The results revealed that (1) In the study area, ESs were on the rise in Liaoning Province. (2) Temporally, ESs were overwhelmingly dominated by synergies; at the spatial scale, ESs were dominated by trade-offs of varying degrees, with the area of synergy between WY and SC being the highest. (3) ESs demonstrated spatial heterogeneity in intensity and were more impacted by natural factors such as vegetation cover, elevation, and precipitation than by characteristics related to human activity. This study helps improve understanding of the interactions and dependencies among ESs and can provide a reference for ecological governance and improvements in Liaoning Province.

FAM64A is a mitotic regulator which promotes cell metaphase-anaphase transition and is highly expressed in a cell-cycle-dependent manner. In this study, we examined the clinicopathological and prognostic significance of FAM64A mRNA expression in gynecological cancers. We conducted a bioinformatics analysis of FAM64A mRNA expression using Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), xiantao, The University of ALabama at Birmingham CANcer data analysis Portal (UALCAN), and Kaplan-Meier (KM) plotter databases. FAM64A expression was elevated in breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers when compared with normal tissue. Expression was positively correlated with white race, low T stages, infiltrating ductal carcinoma, or favourable PAM50 classification in breast cancer patients, and with clinical stage, histological grade and TP53 mutation, and endometrial cancer serous subtype. FAM64A expression was negatively associated with overall and/or recurrence-free survival rates in breast and endometrial cancer patients, while the opposite was observed in cervical and ovarian cancer patients. FAM64A functioned as an independent predictor of overall and disease-specific survival in breast cancer patients. FAM64A-correlated genes were involved in ligand-receptor interactions, and chromosomal, cell cycle, and DNA replication processes in breast, cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers. Top hub genes primarily included cell cycle-related proteins in breast cancer, mucins and acetylgalactosaminyl transferases in cervical cancer, kinesin family members in endometrial cancer, and synovial sarcoma X and the cancer/testis antigen in ovarian cancer. FAM64A mRNA expression was positively related to Th2 cell infiltration, but negatively associated with neutrophil and Th17 cell infiltration in breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. FAM64A expression may be considered a potential biomarker reflecting carcinogenesis, histogenesis, aggressive behaviour, and prognosis in gynecological cancers.Impact statementWhat is already known on this subject? FAM64A is located in cell nucleolar and nucleoplasmic regions, and during mitosis it putatively controls metaphase-to-anaphase transition. FAM64A appears to regulate different physiological processes, including apoptosis, tumorigenesis, neural differentiation, stress responses, and the cell cycle.What the results of this study add? FAM64A expression was up-regulated in breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers, and positively correlated with white race, low T stages, infiltrating ductal carcinoma, or favourable PAM50 classification in breast cancer patients, and with clinical stage, histological grade, and TP53 mutation, and a serous subtype in endometrial cancer. BAG3 is a co-chaperone BAG family protein that plays important roles in protein homeostasis, cell survival, cell motility, and tumour metastasis. This study aimed to clarify the clinicopathological and prognostic implications of BAG3 mRNA expression in tumours. We performed bioinformatics analysis on BAG3 mRNA expression using TCGA, XIANTAO, UALCAN, and Kaplan-Meier plotter databases. BAG3 mRNA expression was downregulated in breast and endometrial cancers and positively correlated with favourable PAM50 subtyping in breast cancer,clinical stage and short overall survival in ovarian cancer and negatively correlated with T stage, clinical stage, and histological grade in cervical and endometrial cancers. The top BAG3-related pathways included ligand-receptor interactions and activity, DNA packaging and nucleosomes, hormonal responses, membrane regions, microdomains and rafts, and endosomes in breast cancer; ligand-receptor interactions, transmembrane transporters and channels, cell adhesion, and keratinisation in cervical cancer; ligand-receptor interactions, anion transmembrane transporters, lipoproteins, keratinisation, cell adhesion, and protein processing in endometrial cancer; metabolism of porphyrin, chlorophyll, pentose, uronic acid, ascorbate, and alternate and cell adhesion in ovarian cancer. BAG3 expression could represent a potential marker for carcinogenesis, histogenesis, aggressive behaviours, and prognosis in gynecological cancers.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? BAG3 regulates cell activity, autophagy, and resistance to apoptosis through multiple domains and plays an important role in tumour development. To clarify the clinicopathological importance of REG4 mRNA expression, we used GEO, TCGA, xiantao, UALCAN, and Kaplan-Meier plotter for a bioinformatics analysis in breast, cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers. Compared to normal tissues, REG4 expression was found to be upregulated in breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers (p < 0.05). Breast cancer had a higher level of REG4 methylation than normal tissues (p < 0.05), which was negatively correlated with its mRNA expression. REG4 expression was positively correlated with oestrogen and progesterone receptor expression, and aggressiveness of PAM50 classification of breast cancer patients (p < 0.05). Breast infiltrating lobular carcinomas expressed more REG4 than ductal carcinomas (p < 0.05). The REG4-related signal pathways mainly included peptidase, keratinisation, brush border and digestion and so forth in gynecological cancers. Our results indicated that REG4 overexpression was associated with gynecological carcinogenesis and their histogenesis, and may be used as a marker for aggressive behaviour and prognosis of breast or cervical cancer.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? REG4 encodes a secretory c-type lectin and plays an essential role in inflammation, carcinogenesis, apoptotic and radiochemotherapeutic resistance.What do the results of this study add? As a standalone predictor, REG4 expression was positively correlated with progression-free survival. Expression of REG4 mRNA was positively associated with the T stage and adenosquamous cell carcinoma of cervical cancer. The top signal pathways related to REG4 included smell and chemical stimulus, peptidase, intermediate filament, and keratinisation in breast cancer; ligand-receptor interaction, metabolism of hormone, xenobiotic and retinol, peptidase, brush border and digestion in cervical and ovarian cancers; bile secretion, intermediate filament, chemical carcinogenesis, brush border and keratinisation in endometrial cancer. REG4 mRNA expression was positively correlated with DC cell infiltration in breast cancer, positively with Th17 cells, TFH, cytotoxic cells and T cells in cervical and endometrial cancers, and negatively with DC cell infiltration, cytotoxic cells and T cells in ovarian cancer. The top hub genes mainly included small proline rich protein 2B in breast cancer; fibrinogens and apoproteins in cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancers.What are the implications of these finding for clinical practice and/or further research? Our study has showed that REG4 mRNA expression is a potential biomarker or therapeutic target for gynaecologic cancers.

BACKGROUND: Aberrant expression of m6A-related proteins contributes to the occurrence and progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Current studies mainly focus on single m6A regulatory genes and their underlying mechanisms, and the expression of multiple m6A regulatory proteins in NSCLC remains unclear. Therefore, it is necessary to systematically examine these proteins, particularly in clinical specimens. METHODS: Bioinformatic analysis was used to determine the expression of m6A regulatory genes and their correlation with common gene mutations, such as TP53, EGFR and KRAS, using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the AE-meta databases. Immunohistochemistry was employed to analyze the protein expression of m6A regulatory proteins in 61 benign lung tissues and 316 NSCLC tissues. Statistical analysis was performed to calculate the correlation between the expression of m6A regulatory proteins and clinicopathological features, survival, and common gene mutations in lung carcinoma patients. RESULTS: Analysis of the mRNA levels of 13 core m6A regulators, using information from TCGA and the AE-meta databases, revealed that YTHDF1 levels were upregulated in NSCLC compared to those in adjacent normal tissues. Immunohistochemical staining showed that the expression of METTL3, ALKBH5, YTHDC2 and YTHDF1 was significantly upregulated in NSCLC tissues. Further analyses demonstrated a positive correlation between differentially expressed m6A regulatory proteins, including METTL3, ALKBH5, YTHDC2 and YTHDF1, and the poor clinicopathological features and survival of NSCLC patients. According to the statistics of NSCLC patients enrolled in the present study, the protein levels of METTL3 in patients with EGFR exon-19 mutation were higher than those in patients with wild-type EGFR. CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that m6A regulators, including METTL3, ALKBH5, YTHDC2 and YTHDF1, could serve as predictive markers of NSCLC, which will facilitate the early detection and diagnosis of NSCLC.

RESUMO

Coherence and entanglement are both the fundamental properties which quantify the degree of nonclassicality possessed in a quantum state. Recently coherence and entanglement are considered as a dynamical resource where the nonclassicality is strongly related to the amount of the static resources which can be generated in a quantum process. In [Phys. Rev. Lett.125, 130401 (2020)10.1103/PhysRevLett.125.130401], for the first time, the authors study the interconvertability of these two kinds of dynamical resources. Here, we demonstrate this resource conversion in an all optical setup, and successfully observe the dynamical resource conversion. The experimental observation prove the ability of manipulating dynamical resource within current quantum photonic technologies.

We describe two new species of Lophocoronidae: Acanthocorona hedida Zhang, Shih and Engel sp. n. and Acanthocorona venulosa Zhang, Shih and Engel sp. n., and an undetermined specimen from mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber. Phylogenetic analysis of basal lepidopteran lineages, including three extinct families, was undertaken. The analysis supported monophyly of Glossata although internal relationships remain controversial. Acanthocorona and Lophocorona form a monophyletic group. It is likely that short and simply structured proboscides of Acanthocorona were used to sip water droplets, pollination drops from gymnosperms, nectar from early flowers, or sap from injured leaves. Both retracted and extended ovipositors are preserved in the material reported here, revealing their morphology and indicating that these Cretaceous lophocoronids inserted eggs into the tissues of their host plants.

BACKGROUND: Stapled haemorrhoidopexy (SH) has resulted in a unique collection of procedural complications with postoperative mucocele a particularly rare example. This study is designed to comprehensively describe the characteristics of rectal mucocele and discuss its pathogenesis following SH surgery. METHODS: A database of patients presenting with a rectal mucocele following an SH procedure was established and studied retrospectively. RESULTS: Seven patients (5 males; median age 32 years, range 20-75 years) were identified. All patients complained of variable anal discomfort with 5/7 presenting with inconstant anal pain, 2 with de novo evacuatory difficulty. These cases appeared at a median time of 6 months (range 2-84 months) after SH surgery. CONCLUSION: Rectal Mucocele develops when mucosal fragments become embedded and isolated under the mucosa. It is a preventable complication of SH surgery by ensuring correct purse string placement prior to stapled haemorrhoid excision.

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is widely used to rapidly detect heavy metals in soil. Spectra processing has been an important research topic to improve accuracy. In this study, 80 soil samples were analyzed by XRF under indoor conditions, where different preprocessing and quantitative analysis methods were compared in terms of prediction accuracy. Denoising algorithms were used to preprocess the soil spectra before establishing prediction models for As, Pb, Cu, Cr, and Cd in soil. The influence of denoising methods on the prediction effects of different models was compared and discussed. The results on five heavy metal spectra show that the proper spectral preprocessing method can effectively improve the prediction performance of the model. The multilayer perceptron model provides promising analysis and modeling for the five metal elements. The determination coefficients (R2) of the models were 0.857, 0.976, 0.977, 0.995, and 0.886, respectively. The proposed method provides the potential to support accurate quantitation by XRF analysis.

During the past 20 years, more than 1,600 species of well-preserved fossil insects, including members of over 270 families within 24 orders, have been described from the Middle Jurassic Yanliao Entomofauna and Early Cretaceous Jehol Entomofauna in Northeastern China. Diversified fossil insects not only document the origin, systematics, and early evolution of many lineages, but also reveal these lineages' behaviors and interactions with coexisting plants, vertebrates, and other insects in their ecosystems. Fossil evidence has been documented, for example, regarding insects' feeding and pollination mutualism with gymnosperms; ectoparasitic feeding on blood of vertebrates; camouflage, mimicry of gymnosperm plants, and eyespot warning; sound stridulation for attracting potential mates; and sexual display, mating, egg-laying, and parental care. In this article, we review the diverse taxonomy of mid-Mesozoic insects of Northeastern China and elucidate their behaviors and interactions within their ecosystems, which have impacted their early evolution and development into extant insects.
