BACKGROUND: Pregnancy; It is an important process that directly affects the mother and the fetus, where women benefit more from health services and the need for health-related decision-making and information increases. It is very important to determine and improve the health literacy level of these women. The study determined the relationship between vaccine hesitancy and health literacy in pregnant women. METHODS: It is a cross-sectional type of research. The research was carried out in a state hospital. The online form was sent to 230 pregnant women. Ethics committee, institution and scale permissions were obtained for the study. The data of the study were collected online by using the questionnaire prepared by scanning the literature, the Anti-Vaccination Scale and the Health Literacy Scale. Statistical analyzes of the data were performed using the SPSS version 25 program. RESULTS: The Vaccine Hesitancy Scale score of the pregnant women was 55.53 ± 10.15, whereas their Health Literacy Scale score was 98.57 ± 21.48. Health literacy was associated with the sociodemographic and obstetric characteristics of the pregnant women. Educational status, economic status, place of residence, and family structure were associated with vaccine hesitancy. CONCLUSIONS: It was determined that there was a negative correlation between the anti-vaccination scale scores of the pregnant women and the health literacy scale scores. As a result, it was determined that the anti-vaccination level of the pregnant women was moderate and the health literacy level was sufficient. It can be recommended to provide appropriate trainings and counseling to target groups, which will increase the health literacy level of pregnant women.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to examine the relationship between human papillomavirus (HPV) testing attitudes and beliefs, knowledge, and vaccination attitudes. DESIGN: This study was a cross-sectional design. SAMPLE: This study was conducted between March 15, 2024, and June 2, 2024, through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Telegram, by sharing on forum pages, and involved 674 women who volunteered to participate. MEASUREMENTS: The research data were collected using the "health belief model scale regarding HPV infection and vaccination (HBMS-HPVV)" and the "HPV Testing Attitudes and Beliefs Scale (HTABS)," which were developed by the researchers through a literature review. RESULTS: The average age of the women participating in the study was 46.59 ± 11.15 years; 81.5% were married, 57.6% had no knowledge about cervical cancer, and 62.2% had no knowledge about the HPV vaccine, a protective vaccine against cervical cancer. The average scores for the subdimensions of severity, barriers, benefits, and susceptibility of the HBMS-HPVV were 3.19 ± 0.60, 2.96 ± 1.22, 2.29 ± 1.40, and 3.92 ± 0.49, respectively. The average scores for the subdimensions of personal barriers, social norms, confidence, and worries of the HTABS were 31.14 ± 19.27, 7.57 ± 4.47, 30.03 ± 7.18, and 11.91 ± 2.52, respectively. A statistically significant positive relationship was found between all HBMS-HPVV subdimensions and the HTABS subdimensions (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The study found that as the perceived severity increases, the perceived benefits, susceptibility, and confidence increase, while the perceived barriers, personal barriers, social norms, and worries decrease. Based on these results, it is recommended that women's health nurses provide education and seminars to raise awareness about cervical cancer, early screening and diagnosis programs, and the HPV vaccine.

PURPOSE: The study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between orthorexia nervosa and cyberchondria levels among nurses. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 399 nurses through face-to-face interviews. The data were collected using a participant information form, the Cyberchondria Severity Scale, and the Orthorexia Nervosa-11 scale (ORTO-11). RESULTS: The mean score of the nurses' cyberchondria severity scale was 73.95 ± 18.53, while the mean score of the Orthorexia Nervosa-11 scale was 28.23 ± 4.76. In the study, a low negative correlation was found between the cyberchondria and orthorexia nervosa levels (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The increase in the level of cyberchondria among nurses increases the risk of orthorexia nervosa. Therefore, it is recommended that nurses receive proper nutritional education and psychosocial support to reduce their tendency towards orthorexia nervosa and cyberchondria.

This study examined the relationship between the sense of professional belonging and perceptions of spirituality and spiritual care among midwifery students. This cross-sectional study's sample included 194 third- and fourth-year midwifery students associated with the Faculty of Health Sciences at two universities in western Turkey. Data were collected using web-based surveys. The results indicate a positive relationship between total scores on the Midwifery Belonging Scale and scores on the Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale. As the students' spirituality and spiritual care perceptions increased, their feelings of professional belonging as midwives also increased. Therefore, including the concepts of spirituality and belonging in the midwifery curriculum can increase students' spiritual perceptions and sense of professional belonging, thereby enhancing the quality of the care they ultimately provide.

PURPOSE: The study was carried out to determine the relationship between internet addiction and risky health behaviors in university students. DESIGN AND METHODS: The study, which is cross-sectional research, was conducted with 606 university students in the 2019-2020 academic year and used face-to-face interviews. FINDINGS: It was determined that 7.15% of the students had internet addiction with limited symptoms. A positive and significant relationship was found between internet addiction and risky health behaviors (p < 0.05). PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: To reduce internet addiction and risky health behaviors, counseling, planning peer education programs, and creating an environment where students can express themselves should be provided. It is also recommended that students develop relationships with their social environment and participate in social activities.

BACKGROUND: During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic period, most university courses in Turkey have been taught via distance education. Beyond knowledge of digital technologies, self-efficacy is known to affect the learning motivation and learning goals of students. PURPOSE: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between eHealth literacy and self-efficacy levels in midwifery students receiving distance education during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The research data were collected using a literature-based questionnaire developed by the researchers, the eHealth Literacy Scale for Adolescents, and the Online Technologies Self-Efficacy Scale. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0, with values of p < .05 considered to be significant. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic on a sample of 578 female midwifery students. Snowball sampling method was used for data collection using an online questionnaire. RESULTS: On the basis of the results, eHealth literacy and self-efficacy levels were relatively low in students who were 20 years old or below, who were in their first year, who were from low-income families, who spent less than an hour a day on the Internet, who had a low level of satisfaction with distance education, and who wanted to continue taking theoretical courses via distance education. In addition, self-efficacy related to online technologies was shown to be relatively low in students who found Internet services to be expensive, who had Internet connection problems, and who preferred asynchronous courses. Furthermore, a significant relationship was found between eHealth literacy and self-efficacy levels for online education. CONCLUSIONS/IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: In the context of distance education, integrating the teaching/promotion of self-efficacy with regard to eHealth literacy and online technologies into midwifery education curriculum should better enable midwives to increase the quality of healthcare they provide and improve patient safety.

PURPOSE: To determine the relationship between the anxiety states and knowledge levels of female midwifery students about COVID-19 during the outbreak. DESIGN AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study carried out with online participation of 972 female midwifery students. FINDINGS: The anxiety levels of the female midwifery students were high among those visiting the hospital during the pandemic and having parents or relatives who had chronic diseases. Female midwifery students had a high level of knowledge regarding COVID-19. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: Female midwives of the future will take part in primary health care services in the protection and promotion of health as an important occupational group in the public health system. To determine mental health and psychological needs of them during the outbreak will greatly contribute to the pandemic management process.
