RESUMO

Metal-rich chalcogenides with unique network architectures are rare but are of considerable interest because of their intriguing physical properties. In this work, a novel quaternary thioantimonate, Rb2CuSb7S12, has been discovered by a facile surfactant-thermal reaction. It crystallizes monoclinic space group P1̅ (No. 2) and exhibits a unique Sb-rich three-dimensional (3D) [CuSb7S12]2- framework surrounded by charge-compensating Rb+ cations. It is interesting to note that the Cu/Sb ratio of Rb2CuSb7S12 represents the lowest limit in the quaternary A/Cu/Sb/Q (A = alkali metals; Q = chalcogen) system. Moreover, Rb2CuSb7S12 shows rapid response and good reproducibility based on the photoelectrochemical tests. This study opens up opportunities for discovering the desirable physical properties in metal-rich chalcogenides.

RESUMO

The two new quaternary thioantimonates(III) BaAgSbS3 (1) and BaAgSbS3·H2O (2) have been synthesized through a hydrazine-hydrothermal method at low temperature. Compound 1 possesses a two-dimensional (2D) layer structure, while compound 2 features a three-dimensional (3D) channel framework. The optical band gaps of 1 and 2 are approximately 2.2 and 2.4 eV, respectively. Our results clearly indicated that the hydrazine-hydrothermal method could offer exciting opportunities for exploring novel multinary chalcogenides with diverse crystal structures and interesting physical properties.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore how NF-κB family members regulate maspin expression in prostate cancer cells. METHODS: The expression of NF-κB subunits and maspin was detected by Western blot analysis in prostate cancer DU145, PC-3, and LNCaP cell lines. RNA interference was performed to analyze whether RelB- or RelA-deletion affectes cell death as well as the expression of NF-κB subunits and maspin. The impact of RelB-silencing in DU145 cells was investigated by flow cytometry. The regulation of RelB on maspin expression in the prostate cancer PC-3 cells was also examined via stable transfection of RelB expression plasmid. RESULTS: RelA, p50, RelB, and p52 were constitutively expressed in androgen-independent prostate cancer DU145 and PC-3 cells, while RelB had the highest expression in DU145 cells. Low expression of maspin was detected in LNCaP and DU145 cells, but elevated expression in PC-3 cells. RelB-silencing in DU145 cells by siRNA interference upregulated the endogenous expression of maspin and induced cell apoptosis (13.3±4.2)%. Overexpression of RelB in PC-3 cells inhibited the endogenous expression of maspin. RelA-silecing had no significant influence on the endogenous expression of maspin. CONCLUSIONS: The classical and alternative NF-κB activitions are sustained in androgen-independent prostate cancer cell lines. The expressions of RelB and maspin are inversely correlated in these cancer cells. The expression of RelB negatively regulates the endogenous expression of maspin, then interferes the cell survival. RelA is not involved in the regulation of maspin expression.

RESUMO

Background: Village doctors (VDs) in China undertook arduous primary healthcare missions. However, they received little attention in comparison to doctors in urban public secondary and tertiary hospitals. There is an urgent need to explore the overall situation of turnover intention and job burnout among VDs to evaluate and adjust current health manpower policy. Methods: In this study, seven databases like PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science (WOS), WanFang, China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), Chinese BioMedical Literature Database (CBM), and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were systematically searched, relevant experts were consulted, and empirical research on job burnout and turnover intention among VDs in international publications was evaluated. Therefore, we evaluated the prevalence of job burnout among VDs in general, across all dimensions and different severity levels, as well as the scores of each category. For turnover intention, we assessed the prevalence of different groups and their overall situation and also identified significant contributors. Results: In this study, we integrated 20 research evidences on job burnout and turnover intention among 23,284 VDs from almost all provinces in China, and the prevalence of turnover intention among VDs in China was as high as 44.1% [95% confidence interval (CI): 34.1-54.2], which was two to four times that of primary health workers in high-income countries, but not much different from some developing countries. Simultaneously, VDs with the highest risk of turnover intention were men [odds ratio (OR): 1.22 (1.05-1.43)], those with a monthly income below USD 163.4 [OR: 0.88 (0.78-0.98)], those with a high educational level [OR: 0.88 (0.78-0.98)], and those <40 years old [OR: 1.27 (1.16-1.40)]. Similarly, the detection rate of job burnout toward them was 59.8% (95% CI: 38.7-79.1) with the MBI-GS score being 44.44 (95% CI: 37.02-51.86) in a total of 90, while the detection rate of job burnout in moderate and above almost reached 20%. The most significant contributor that affects job burnout was low personal accomplishment (LPA), and the detection rate for moderate and higher severity was 65.2% (95% CI: 58.7-71.7). Conclusion: Attention should be paid to the high turnover intention and severe job burnout of primary health workers in rural areas of developing countries, and targeted measures should be taken to improve the situation. Health policymakers should increase financial subsidies for VDs, set a reasonable workload, improve various health policies such as pension insurance for VDs, and encourage "targeted training" for medical students to enrich and expand their team. RESUMO

Two novel porous three-dimensional (3D) quaternary thioantimonates(III) ACuSb2S4 (A = Rb, Cs) were successfully synthesized by employing the neutral surfactant PEG-400 (PEG = polyethyleneglycol) as reaction media, these are significantly different from the known quaternary A-Cu-Sb-S thioantimonates(III) with two-dimensional (2D) crystal structures. This is the first time that crystalline quaternary chalcogenides have been prepared in surfactant media. Both experimental and theoretical studies confirm they are semiconductors with narrow band gaps. Our results demonstrated that the surfactant-thermal strategy could offer a new opportunity to explore novel chalcogenides with diverse crystal structures and interesting physicochemical properties.
