RESUMO

Pompano fishes have been widely farmed worldwide. As a representative commercial marine species of the Carangidae family, the golden pompano (Trachinotus blochii) has gained significant popularity in China and worldwide. However, because of rapid growth and high-density aquaculture, the golden pompano has become seriously threatened by various diseases. Cell lines are the most cost-effective resource for in vitro studies and are widely used for physiological and pathological research owing to their accessibility and convenience. In this study, we established a novel immortal cell line, GPF (Golden pompano fin cells). GPF has been passaged over 69 generations for 10 months. The morphology, adhesion and extension processes of GPF were evaluated using light and electron microscopy. GPF cells were passaged every 3 days with L-15 containing 20 % fetal bovine serum (FBS) at 1:3. The optimum conditions for GPF growth were 28 °C and a 20 % FBS concentration. DNA sequencing of 18S rRNA and mitochondrial 16S rRNA confirmed that GPF was derived from the golden pompano. Chromosomal analysis revealed that the number pattern of GPF was 48 chromosomes. Transfection experiments demonstrated that GPF could be utilized to express foreign genes. Furthermore, heavy metals (Cd, Cu, and Fe) exhibited dose-dependent cytotoxicity against GPF. After polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly I:C) treatment, transcription of the retinoic acid-inducible gene I-like receptor (RLR) pathway genes, including mda5, mita, tbk1, irf3, and irf7 increased, inducing the expression of interferon (IFN) and anti-viral proteins in GPF cells. In addition, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation up-regulated the expression of inflammation-related factors, including myd88, irak1, nfκb, il1ß, il6, and cxcl10 expression. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study on the immune response signaling pathways of the golden pompano using an established fin cell line. In this study, we describe a preliminary investigation of the GPF cell line immune response to poly I:C and LPS, and provide a more rapid and efficient experimental material for research on marine fish immunology.

RESUMO

Reading disability (RD) can manifest itself as a word decoding problem or a reading comprehension problem. In the current study, we identified 3 subtypes of RD: poor decoders (PD), poor comprehenders (PC), and poor-in-both (PB). We found that PD had greater deficits in meta-linguistic skills such as phonological awareness, orthographic skills, and morphological skills than PC, whereas PC had greater deficits in listening comprehension than PD. In the brain, we also found different patterns of deficits during an auditory rhyming judgment task using functional magnetic resonance imaging. PD showed less activation than PC and age controls in the left dorsal inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) and pre-supplementary motor area (SMA), brain activation of which was correlated with phonological awareness and working memory. In contrast, PC showed less activation in the left fusiform gyrus than PD and age controls, which was correlated with reading comprehension fluency and morphological skill. Last, PB showed both PD's and PC's deficits, as well as additional deficits in the bilateral lingual gyri. Our findings contribute to revealing different neural signatures of poor decoding and poor comprehension, which are distinct disorders but co-occur very often. These findings implicate possibility and necessity of precise diagnosis and individualized intervention.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a major complication affecting the survival rate and long-term outcomes of preterm infants. A large, prospective, multicenter cohort study was conducted to evaluate early nutritional support during the first week of life for preterm infants with a gestational age < 32 weeks and to verify nutritional risk factors related to BPD development. METHODS: A prospective multicenter cohort study of very preterm infants was conducted in 40 tertiary neonatal intensive care units across mainland China between January 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021. Preterm infants who were born at a gestational age < 32 weeks, < 72 h after birth and had a respiratory score > 4 were enrolled. Antenatal and postnatal information focusing on nutritional parameters was collected through medical systems. Statistical analyses were also performed to identify BPD risk factors. RESULTS: The primary outcomes were BPD and severity at 36 weeks postmenstrual age. A total of 1410 preterm infants were enrolled in this study. After applying the exclusion criteria, the remaining 1286 infants were included in this analysis; 614 (47.7%) infants were in the BPD group, and 672 (52.3%) were in the non-BPD group. In multivariate logistic regression model, the following six factors were identified of BPD: birth weight (OR 0.99, 95% CI 0.99-0.99; p = 0.039), day of full enteral nutrition (OR 1.03, 95% CI 1.02-1.04; p < 0.001), parenteral protein > 3.5 g/kg/d during the first week (OR 1.65, 95% CI 1.25-2.17; p < 0.001), feeding type (formula: OR 3.48, 95% CI 2.21-5.49; p < 0.001, mixed feed: OR 1.92, 95% CI 1.36-2.70; p < 0.001; breast milk as reference), hsPDA (OR 1.98, 95% CI 1.44-2.73; p < 0.001), and EUGR ats 36 weeks (OR 1.40, 95% CI 1.02-1.91; p = 0.035). CONCLUSIONS: A longer duration to achieve full enteral nutrition in very preterm infants was associated with increased BPD development. Breastfeeding was demonstrated to have a protective effect against BPD. Early and rapidly progressive enteral nutrition and breastfeeding should be promoted in very preterm infants. TRIAL REGISTRATION: The trial was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (No. ChiCTR2000030125 on 24/02/2020) and in www.ncrcch.org (No. ISRCTN84167642 on 25/02/2020).

RESUMO

Cortical traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of cognitive impairment accompanied by motor and behavioral deficits, and there is no effective treatment strategy in the clinic. Cell transplantation is a promising therapeutic strategy, and it is necessary to verify the survival and differentiation of cells after transplantation in large animal models like rhesus monkeys. In this study, we transplanted neural stem cells (NSCs) and simultaneously injected basic fibroblast growth factor/epidermal growth factor (bFGF/EGF) into the cortex (visual and sensory cortices) of rhesus monkeys with superficial TBI. The results showed that the transplanted NSCs did not enter the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and were confined to the transplantation site for at least one year. The transplanted NSCs differentiated into mature neurons that formed synaptic connections with host neurons, but glial scar formation between the graft and the host tissue did not occur. This study is the first to explore the repairing effect of transplanting NSCs into the superficial cerebral cortex of rhesus monkeys after TBI, and the results show the ability of NSCs to survive long-term and differentiate into neurons, demonstrating the potential of NSC transplantation for cortical TBI.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to explore the influence of traditional laparoscopic surgery and transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery on ovarian function in patients with benign ovarian tumours. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-four patients with benign ovarian tumours who were treated in our hospital from January 2020 to June 2021 were selected and randomly divided into two groups, with 22 cases in each group according to random number table. The conventional group was treated with conventional laparoscopic surgery, while the modified group was treated with transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery. The measurement method was t -test, and the enumeration method was two tests. The clinical operation-related indicators, ovarian function (follicle-stimulating hormone, E 2 and luteinising hormone), complication incidence, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and landscaping satisfaction scores of the two groups were compared. RESULTS: There were no significant differences in complications and operation duration between the two groups ( P > 0.05). After treatment, the ovarian function indexes and beautification satisfaction scores of the modified group were significantly superior to those of the conventional group ( P < 0.05). Besides, the intraoperative bleeding volume, post-operative exhaust time, hospital stay and three-dimensional VAS scores on day 1 and day 3 after surgery of the modified group were lower than those of the conventional group ( P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Transumbilical single-port laparoscopic surgery for benign ovarian tumours has a significant clinical effect, which can effectively reduce bleeding during the operation, improve ovarian function, relieve surgical pain, promote rapid post-operative recovery and improve patients' satisfaction with landscaping. It is worthy of clinical application.

RESUMO

Boron carbide ceramics are often considered ideal materials for lightweight bulletproof armor, but their anomalous brittle failure at hypervelocity impact limits their use. Recent experiments have reported that nanotwins are ubiquitous in boron carbide and that nanotwinned samples are harder than the twin-free boron carbide, but although the strengthening effect of nanotwins on metals and alloys is well-established, their role in boron carbide ceramics is not well understood. In this study, we used classical molecular dynamics simulations to investigate how nanoscale twins affect the mechanical properties of boron carbide ceramics. Our classical molecular dynamics results show that introducing nanotwins in boron carbide can increase the shear strength limit by 19.72%, reduce the number of amorphized atoms, and narrow the width of the amorphous shear band. Under indentation load, nanotwins can also increase the compressive shear strength limit of boron carbide by 15.97% and change the crystal formation direction and region of the amorphous shear band. These findings suggest that twin boundaries can hinder the expansion of the amorphous shear band and provide a new design idea for improving the impact resistance of boron carbide ceramics and avoiding their abnormal brittle failure.

RESUMO

CoSb3 shows intrinsically excellent electric transport performance but high thermal conductivity, resulting in low thermoelectric performance. The use of graphene to form heterogeneous interfaces shows great potential for significantly lessening the lattice thermal conductivity (κL) in CoSb3-based composites. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are carried out in the present work to study the interfacial thermal conductance across the CoSb3-graphene interface in the temperature range of 300 K to 800 K. The interfacial thermal conductance exhibits irregular fluctuations with temperature and CoSb3 length. Furthermore, we explored the effect of graphene layers on the interfacial heat transport of the CoSb3-graphene system. The results demonstrate that graphene layers affect the interfacial thermal conductance due to the suppression of heat flux in multilayer graphene across the c-axis. The phonon density of states (PDOS) of the CoSb3-graphene system reveals a decreased low-frequency vibration mode at 0-7 THz and an enhanced high-frequency vibration mode compared with those of CoSb3, indicating that thermal transport can be effectively suppressed by the addition of graphene.

RESUMO

Laser-induced self-organization of periodic nanostructures on highly absorbing materials is widely understood to be due to interference between laser and surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) that are excited by initial surface roughness. The structure order naturally emerges from the propagation phase of SPPs. Here, we reveal an unexplored mechanism that is predominantly induced by quasicylindrical waves (QCWs) with negligible contributions from SPPs. This mechanism features a new principle of order emergence in growth of periodic nanostructures through short-range electromagnetic interactions between QCWs and marginal nanofringes. In this scenario, the periodicity of nanostructures is not simply determined by the electromagnetic wavelength. With suppressed long-range interactions, the formation of nanostructures shows a domino-like growth process, thus significantly improving structure uniformity. An in situ microscopic observation is performed to characterize the temporal dynamics of structural growth and verify the new mechanism. Further, the QCWs are directly observed in experiments, which are theoretically supported by a scattering model.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the risk factors and prognosis of hypotension within 72 hours after birth in extremely preterm infants. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data of extremely preterm infants admitted to the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine from January 2019 to April 2022. Based on the presence of hypotension within 72 hours after birth, the eligible infants were divided into a hypotension group (41 cases) and a normotension group (82 cases). The clinical characteristics, echocardiographic parameters within 72 hours after birth, and early complications were compared between the two groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to explore the risk factors for hypotension within 72 hours after birth, and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to evaluate the predictive value of relevant indicators for the occurrence of hypotension within 72 hours after birth in the preterm infants. RESULTS: The proportion of infants who required medication or surgical closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), the proportions of infants with intraventricular hemorrhage ≥ grade III and severe pulmonary hemorrhage, and the mortality rate within 7 days in the hypotension group were significantly higher than those in the normotension group (P<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that lower birth weight, larger PDA diameter, and hemodynamically significant PDA were risk factors for the occurrence of hypotension within 72 hours after birth in extremely preterm infants (P<0.05). The receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the combination of birth weight, PDA diameter, and hemodynamically significant PDA had an area under the curve of 0.873 (95%CI: 0.802-0.944, P<0.05) for predicting hypotension within 72 hours after birth, with a sensitivity of 73.2% and specificity of 91.5%. CONCLUSIONS: Hypotension within 72 hours after birth is closely related to birth weight and PDA, and increases the risk of early severe complications and mortality in extremely preterm infants.

RESUMO

Using the two-photon polymerization (TPP) lithography, here we propose and experimentally demonstrate a fiber-tipped Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) for liquid refractive index (RI) measurement. To fit the aqueous environment, the FPI is designed as an open-cell microstructure consisting of well-crafted surfaces together with supporting rods, where the major spectral interference occurs between the waveguide's facet and the printed surface. Subsequently, the sensing performances of the fiber FPI are comprehensively studied under various RI as well as temperature configurations. The RI sensitivity is obtained to be ∼1058 nm/RIU with a low detection limit of 4.5× 10-6 RIU, which is comparable to that of previous reported FPIs. And the temperature cross-sensitivity reaches a value of 8.2 × 10-5 RIU/°C, indicating the good reliability for RI monitoring. Compared to other fiber FPIs, our sensor exhibits substantial advantages such as ease of fabrication, highly smooth cavity surfaces, and sufficient mechanical strength, providing a practical and competitive solution for chemical and biological sensing.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the correlations between facial profile markers and crown-lump length (CRL) in a Chinese population, and to evaluate the clinical value of these markers for abnormal fetuses during the first trimester (11 to 13+6 gestational weeks).  METHODS: The facial profile markers were as followings: inferior facial angle (IFA), maxilla-nasion-mandible (MNM) angle, facial maxillary angle (FMA), frontal space (FS) distance and profile line (PL) distance. These markers were measured in facial mid-sagittal section through ViewPoint 6 software. The diagnostic value of these markers for abnormal fetuses was assessed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. RESULTS: According to the first-trimester scanning (FTS) and follow-up, 31 fetuses were enrolled in the abnormal group, including 14 cases of trisomy 21, 7 cases of trisomy 18, 10 cases with cleft lip and palate (CLP), and 1000 normal fetuses were selected. Among the normal fetuses, the IFA, FS distance and PL distance had negative correlations with CRL. The MNM angle and FMA had positive correlations with CRL. The mean IFA values for fetuses with trisomy 21 and trisomy 18 were 74.11° (standard deviation (SD) 7.48) and 69.88° (SD 7.08), respectively, which were significantly smaller than the normal fetuses (p = 0.013; p = 0.003). The mean MNM angle of fetuses with trisomy 18 and CLP were 6.98° (SD 2.61) and 9.41° (SD 2.57), respectively, which were significantly greater than the normal fetuses (p = 0.005; p < 0.001). The mean FMA values of trisomy 18 fetuses were 63.95° (SD 4.77), which was significantly smaller than the normal fetuses (p < 0.001). The mean FS distance of CLP fetuses was -0.22 mm (SD 1.38), which was significantly smaller than the normal fetuses (p < 0.001). The mean PL distance of trisomy 21, trisomy 18 and CLP fetuses were 2.89 mm (SD 0.41), 2.91 mm (SD 0.56) and 2.71 mm (SD 0.37), respectively. The difference with the normal fetuses had no statistical significance (p = 0.56; p = 0.607; p = 0.54). CONCLUSIONS: Fetal facial profile markers had excellent correlations with CRL during the first trimester. IFA had certain clinical significance in detecting trisomy 21. FMA, IFA and MNM angle were reliable indicators for screening trisomy 18. The abnormal MNM angle and FS distance could be used as sensitive indicators for CLP. However, PL distance was not the best markers for trisomy 21, trisomy 18 and CLP.

RESUMO

Animal growth and development is a complicated process and is regulated by multi-genes. Myostatin (Mstn) and myogenin (Myog) are a pair of negative and positive regulators respectively, which play an important role in the generation of muscle cells. In order to study the function of these two genes in muscle growth of Trachinotus blochii, full lengths of two mstn genes (mstn-1 and mstn-2) and myog gene were cloned using RACE. We first identified and characterized the complete cDNA sequences of mstn-1, mstn-2, and myog genes derived from T. blochii, an economically important mariculture species in China. Multiple sequence alignment of amino acids and phylogenetic analysis revealed that the Mstn and Myog were highly conserved to the other Perciformes. In addition, gene duplication of mstn in T. blochii was observed. mstn-1 mRNA was mainly expressed in the muscle and gonad, while mstn-2 and myog transcripts were detectable mainly in the brain and muscle, respectively. Moreover, the nutritional status and temperature influenced abundance levels in brain and muscle. Results suggested that mstn and myog genes play an important role in muscle growth of T. blochii, mstn may not be limited to control of muscle growth in fish and could also be involved in other biological functions.

RESUMO

To construct a model with the indices obtained by echocardiography to predict whether patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) was required to be treated with pharmacologic treatment or surgical ligation, we performed a prospective observational study, including all neonates with gestational age ≤ 30 weeks and assessed the hemodynamics of PDA by serial daily echocardiography examination at postnatal age of 0-12 h, 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h, respectively. The infants were classified in two groups based on whether they were treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and/or surgical ligation to close the PDA from the second week after birth. We compared the echocardiographic indices between the two groups and utilized the indices to construct a model to predict which premature infants' PDA requires intervention. The results showed that a total of forty-two preterm infants were enrolled in the study. 15 (35.7%) preterms were in the intervention group and 27 (64.3%) preterms were in the non-intervention group. Compared with the non-intervention group, the intervention group had a higher proportion of left ventricular volume overload and systemic shunt effect. In addition, the combined indicators of PDA size/weight > 3.2 mm/kg and LA/Ao > 1.4 at postnatal age of 72 h had a highest value to predict whether PDA requires intervention. These findings denoted that serial daily echocardiographic assessment can be useful in predicting whether a PDA will be closed with NSAIDs and/or surgical ligation in preterm infants with gestational age ≤ 30 weeks.Trial registration Number: IRB No. 2018-IRB-073. Date: 2018/09/21, retrospectively registered.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Perinatal Ureaplasma infection is associated with a variety of adverse outcomes and neonatal diseases. This meta-analysis is to evaluate current evidence evaluating the association between Ureaplasma and adverse pregnancy outcomes and bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm infants. METHODS: We searched for published articles on Ureaplasma, preterm and BPD in PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and Embase databases posted before August 28, 2021. In addition, the references of these articles were screened. A random/fixed-effect model was used to synthesize predefined outcomes. RESULTS: A total of 19 cohort studies involving 11,990 pregnancy women met our inclusion criteria. Pregnancy Ureaplasma positive increased the risk of preterm birth [odds ratios (OR) 2.76, 95% confidence intervals (CI) 1.63-4.68], BPD (OR 2.39 95% CI 1.73-3.30), chorioamnionitis (OR 2.71, 95% CI 2.02-3.64) and premature rupture of membranes (PROM, OR 2.19, 95% CI 1.34-3.58). CONCLUSIONS: Pregnancy Ureaplasma positive may increase the risk of developing preterm birth, chorioamnionitis, PROM and BPD in the preterm infant. The evidence base is, however, of low quality and well-designed studies are needed.

RESUMO

Fish skin color is often strongly affected by background color. We hypothesized that the regulatory mechanism of variations in skin color in P. leopardus is linked to the background color. In this study, we conducted transcriptome analysis of Plectropomus leopardus cultured under different background colors to compare gene expression levels and the important signaling pathways. The RNA-seq analysis yielded 26,675 known mRNAs, 3278 novel mRNAs, and 3179 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The DEGs related to melanin synthesis were screened out. Some key melanin-related genes were identified, specifically tyr, slc7a11, mc1r, ednrb, dct, tat, and wnt1. These DEGs were mainly involved in melanogenesis, including tyrosine metabolism, the Wnt signaling pathway, and the cAMP signaling pathway. The expression levels of some key genes were upregulated when background color deepened, such as α-msh, wnt, and gf. The α-MSH/cAMP-dependent, Wnt/ß-catenin, and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways were activated, resulting in the accumulation of intracellular mitf. mitf promoted melanin production by binding to the tyr/tyrp1/dct promoter region. In the present study, we explored the molecular mechanism underlying the darkened skin color pattern of P. leopardus, providing a theoretical basis for the molecular mechanism underlying pigmentation in P. leopardus.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the effect of timing of surgical ligation of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) on the prognosis of very low birth weight infants (VLBWI). METHODS: The medical data of VLBWI who underwent transthoracic ligation for PDA from June 2018 to May 2021 were reviewed retrospectively. The infants were divided into early ligation group (≤21 days of age) and late ligation group (>21 days of age) based on the age of ligation. The two groups were compared in terms of perioperative clinical features, complications, and mortality. The risk factors for early surgical ligation were analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 72 VLBWI were enrolled, with 19 infants (26%) in the early ligation group and 53 infants (74%) in the late ligation group. There were significant differences in birth weight, gestational age, weight at operation, days of age at operation, rates of preoperative invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, incidence rate of pulmonary hemorrhage, incidence rate of hypotension, preoperative PDA internal diameter (mm/kg), intraoperative PDA external diameter (mm/kg), incidence rate of post-ligation cardiac syndrome, and duration of postoperative invasive mechanical ventilation between the two groups (P<0.05). A binary logistic regression analysis showed that pulmonary hemorrhage was an indication of early surgical ligation of PDA (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the incidence rates of post-operative complications and the mortality rate between the early ligation and late ligation groups. CONCLUSIONS: Early surgical ligation may be performed for VLBWI who are experiencing pulmonary hemorrhage and hemodynamically significant PDA confirmed by cardiac ultrasound after birth. However, post-ligation cardiac syndrome should attract enough attention. In addition, early surgical ligation of PDA does not increase the risk of surgery-related and long-term complications or death, indicating that it is a safe and feasible treatment option.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the features of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) or central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) after peripherally inserted central catheterization (PICC) in neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and the risk factors for CRBSI or CLABSI. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on the medical data of the neonates who were treated and required PICC in the NICU of the Children's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine from June 1, 2018 to May 1, 2020. The catheterization-related data were collected, including placement time, insertion site, removal time, and antimicrobial lock of PICC. The multivariate logistic regression model was used to investigate the risk factors for CRBSI or CLABSI in the neonates. RESULTS: A total of 446 neonates were enrolled, with a mean gestational age of (30.8±4.0) weeks, a mean birth weight of (1 580±810) g, a median age of 9 days, and a median duration of PICC of 18 days. The incidence rates of CLABSI and CRBSI were 5.6 and 1.46 per 1 000 catheter days, respectively. Common pathogens for CLABSI caused by PICC included Staphylococcus epidermidis (n=19) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (n=11), and those for CRBSI caused by PICC included Klebsiella pneumoniae (n=6). The risk of CLABSI caused by PICC increased significantly with prolonged durations of PICC and antibiotic use, and the PICC-related infection probability at head and neck was significantly lower than that in the upper and low limbs (P<0.05), while the above conditions were more obvious in neonates with a birth weight of <1 500 g. The risk of CRBSI caused by PICC decreased with the increase in gestational age (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: CRBSI and CLABSI remain serious issues in NICU nosocomial infection. The identification of the risk factors for CRBSI and CLABSI provides a basis for improving the quality of clinical care and management.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the value of bedside echocardiography in predicting persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus during the early postnatal period in very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed for 51 VLBW infants who were admitted from March 2020 to June 2021, with an age of ≤3 days and a length of hospital stay of ≥14 days. According to the diameter of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) on days 14 and 28 after birth, the infants were divided into three groups: large PDA group (PDA diameter ≥2 mm), small PDA group (PDA diameter <2 mm), and PDA closure group (PDA diameter =0 mm). The echocardiographic parameters measured at 72 hours after birth were compared among the three groups. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the value of the echocardiographic parameters in predicting persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus (PDA≥2 mm) at the ages of 14 and 28 days. RESULTS: On day 14 after birth, there were 17 infants in the large PDA group, 11 in the small PDA group, and 23 in the PDA closure group. On day 28 after birth, there were 14 infants in the large PDA group, 9 in the small PDA group, and 26 in the PDA closure group. There were significant differences in gestational age, birth weight, rate of pulmonary surfactant use, and incidence rate of hypotension among the three groups (P<0.05). PDA diameter, end-diastolic velocity of the left pulmonary artery, left ventricular output, and left ventricular output/superior vena cava flow ratio measured at 72 hours after birth were associated with persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus at the ages of 14 and 28 days (P<0.05), and the ratio of the left atrium to aorta diameter was associated with persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus at the age of 28 days (P<0.05). The ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve that the PDA diameter measured at 72 hours after birth predicting the persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus at the ages of 14 and 28 days was the largest (0.841 and 0.927 respectively), followed by end-diastolic velocity of the left pulmonary artery, with the area under the curve of 0.793 and 0.833 respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The indicators obtained by beside echocardiography at 72 hours after birth, especially PDA diameter and end-diastolic velocity of the left pulmonary artery, can predict persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus at the ages of 14 and 28 days in VLBW infants, which provides a basis for the implementation of early targeted treatment strategy for PDA.

RESUMO

Zinc ion is closely related to human health. Its content in human body is small, while the effect is large. However, it is not the more the better, must be in a scientific balance. Therefore, it is significant to the rapid detection of Zn2+ in the environment and organism. Herein, a fluorescent probe based on 2-hydroxy-1-naphthalene formaldehyde and furan-2-carbohydrazide was conveniently synthesized via Schiff base reaction. And this probe has been successfully applied to the accurate and quantitative detection of Zn2+ in real samples, showing turn on fluorescence, good selectivity, very low detection limit, real time response and reusability. In addition, this probe has the potential application to trace Zn2+ in living cells with low cytotoxicity.
