Network connectivity, as mapped by the whole brain connectome, plays a crucial role in regulating auditory function. Auditory deprivation such as unilateral hearing loss might alter structural network connectivity; however, these potential alterations are poorly understood. Thirty-seven acoustic neuroma patients with unilateral hearing loss (19 left-sided and 18 right-sided) and 19 healthy controls underwent diffusion-weighted and T1-weighted imaging to assess edge strength, node strength, and global efficiency of the structural connectome. Edge strength was estimated by pair-wise normalized streamline density from tractography and connectomics. Node strength and global efficiency were calculated through graph theory analysis of the connectome. Pure-tone audiometry and word recognition scores were used to correlate the degree and duration of unilateral hearing loss with node strength and global efficiency. We demonstrate significantly stronger edge strength and node strength through the visual network, weaker edge strength and node strength in the somatomotor network, and stronger global efficiency in the unilateral hearing loss patients. No discernible correlations were observed between the degree and duration of unilateral hearing loss and the measures of node strength or global efficiency. These findings contribute to our understanding of the role of structural connectivity in hearing by facilitating visual network upregulation and somatomotor network downregulation after unilateral hearing loss.

BACKGROUND: Nutritional administration in acute pancreatitis (AP) management has sparked widespread discussion, yet contradictory mortality results across meta-analyses necessitate clarification. The optimal nutritional route in AP remains uncertain. Therefore, this study aimed to compare mortality among nutritional administration routes in patients with AP using consistency model. METHODS: This study searched four major databases for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Two authors independently extracted and checked data and quality. Network meta-analysis was conducted for estimating risk ratios (RRs) with 95% confidence interval (CI) based on random-effects model. Subgroup analyses accounted for AP severity and nutrition support initiation. RESULTS: A meticulous search yielded 1185 references, with 30 records meeting inclusion criteria from 27 RCTs (n = 1594). Pooled analyses showed the mortality risk reduction associated with nasogastric (NG) (RR = 0.34; 95%CI: 0.16-0.73) and nasojejunal (NJ) feeding (RR = 0.46; 95%CI: 0.25-0.84) in comparison to nil per os. Similarly, NG (RR = 0.45; 95%CI: 0.24-0.83) and NJ (RR = 0.60; 95%CI: 0.40-0.90) feeding also showed lower mortality risk than total parenteral nutrition. Subgroup analyses, stratified by severity, supported these findings. Notably, the timing of nutritional support initiation emerged as a significant factor, with NJ feeding demonstrating notable mortality reduction within 24 and 48 h, particularly in severe cases. CONCLUSION: For severe AP, both NG and NJ feeding appear optimal, with variations in initiation timings. NG feeding does not appear to merit recommendation within the initial 24 h, whereas NJ feeding is advisable within the corresponding timeframe following admission. These findings offer valuable insights for optimizing nutritional interventions in AP.

BACKGROUND: Monitoring the trends of pre-treatment drug resistance (PDR) and resistance-associated mutations (RAMs) among antiretroviral-naïve people with HIV (PWH) is important for the implementation of HIV treatment and control programmes. We analysed the trends of HIV-1 PDR after the introduction of second-generation integrase strand-transfer inhibitors (INSTIs) in 2016 in Taiwan, when single-tablet regimens of non-nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI-) and INSTI-based antiretroviral therapy became the preferred treatments. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this multicentre study, we included newly diagnosed, antiretroviral-naïve PWH who underwent tests for RAMs between 2016 and 2022. Pre-treatment genotypic resistance testing was performed, along with HIV-1 subtyping and determinations of plasma HIV RNA load and CD4 lymphocyte counts. RAMs were analysed using the Stanford University HIV Drug Resistance Database and only RAMs conferring at least low-level resistance were included. RESULTS: From 2016 to 2022, pre-treatment blood samples from 3001 newly diagnosed PWH, which constituted 24.3% of newly diagnosed PWH in Taiwan during the study period, were tested. Of the PWH with analysable gene sequences, the HIV-1 PDR prevalence to NNRTIs, nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), first- and second-generation INSTIs and PIs was 10.0%, 2.1%, 2.5%, 0.6% and 0.4%, respectively. While the trends of PDR remained stable for NRTIs, INSTIs and PIs, there was a significantly increasing trend of PDR to NNRTIs from 6.0% in 2016% to 13.1% in 2022 (P = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: After the introduction of second-generation INSTIs in Taiwan, the trends of HIV-1 PDR to NRTIs and INSTIs remained low. Furthermore, there was no significant decrease of the prevalence of PDR toward NNRTIs between 2016 and 2022.

BACKGROUND: Taiwan became an aged society in March 2018, and it is expected to become a super-aged society by 2025. The trend of increasing proportions of older adults continuing to work is inevitable. However, few studies have been conducted to investigate the effects of employment on the mental health of older adults. Therefore, we longitudinally explored the relationship between employment status and depressive symptoms in Taiwanese older adults. METHODS: The study included 5,131 individuals aged 50 and above, of which 55.6% were men, who had participated in the national-wide Taiwan Longitudinal Study of Aging in 1996, 1999, 2003, and 2007. Of them, 1,091 older adults had completed all four surveys. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Center for Epidemiological Studies of Depression scale; the total score on this scale ranges from 0 to 30. Employment status was assessed during each survey wave. Logistic regression was performed using a cross-sectional design. The effects of unemployment on depressive symptoms were analyzed using a generalized estimating equation model with a repeated measures design. RESULTS: In each survey wave, employed older adults exhibited better mental health than did unemployed ones. After adjustments for potential confounders, unemployment was found to exert a significant adverse effect on depressive symptoms. The repeated measures analysis revealed that employment protected against depressive symptoms, as noted in the subsequent surveys conducted after 3 to 4 years (aOR [95% CI] = 0.679 [0.465-0.989]). CONCLUSION: Employment may reduce the risk of depressive symptoms in community-dwelling older adults in Taiwan.

This research is dedicated to developing an automatic landing system for shipborne unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) based on wireless precise positioning technology. The application scenario is practical for specific challenging and complex environmental conditions, such as the Global Positioning System (GPS) being disabled during wartime. The primary objective is to establish a precise and real-time dynamic wireless positioning system, ensuring that the UAV can autonomously land on the shipborne platform without relying on GPS. This work addresses several key aspects, including the implementation of an ultra-wideband (UWB) circuit module with a specific antenna design and RF front-end chip to enhance wireless signal reception. These modules play a crucial role in achieving accurate positioning, mitigating the limitations caused by GPS inaccuracy, thereby enhancing the overall performance and reception range of the system. Additionally, the study develops a wireless positioning algorithm to validate the effectiveness of automatic landing on the shipborne platform. The platform's wave vibration is considered to provide a realistic landing system for shipborne UAVs. The UWB modules are practically installed on the shipborne platform, and the UAV and the autonomous three-body vessel are tested simultaneously in the outdoor open water space to verify the functionality, precision, and adaptability of the proposed UAV landing system. Results demonstrate that the UAV can autonomously fly from 200 m, approach, and automatically land on the moving shipborne platform without relying on GPS.

Expression of the receptor tyrosine kinase ephrin receptor A10 (EphA10), which is undetectable in most normal tissues except for the male testis, has been shown to correlate with tumor progression and poor prognosis in several malignancies, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Therefore, EphA10 could be a potential therapeutic target, likely with minimal adverse effects. However, no effective clinical drugs against EphA10 are currently available. Here, we report high expression levels of EphA10 in tumor regions of breast, lung, and ovarian cancers as well as in immunosuppressive myeloid cells in the tumor microenvironment. Furthermore, we developed anti-EphA10 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that specifically recognize cell surface EphA10, but not other EphA family isoforms, and target tumor regions precisely in vivo with no apparent accumulation in other organs. In syngeneic TNBC mouse models, we found that anti-EphA10 mAb clone #4 enhanced tumor regression, therapeutic response rate, and T cell-mediated antitumor immunity. Notably, the chimeric antigen receptor T cells derived from clone #4 significantly inhibited TNBC cell viability in vitro and tumor growth in vivo. Together, our findings suggest that targeting EphA10 via EphA10 mAbs and EphA10-specific chimeric antigen receptor-T cell therapy may represent a promising strategy for patients with EphA10-positive tumors.

Among genetically engineered mouse models of breast cancer, MMTV-PyVT is a mouse strain in which the oncogenic polyoma virus middle T antigen is driven by the mouse mammary tumor virus promoter. The aim of the present study was to perform morphologic and genetic analyses of mammary tumors arising from MMTV-PyVT mice. To this end, mammary tumors were obtained at 6, 9, 12, and 16 weeks of age for histology and whole-mount analyses. We conducted whole-exome sequencing to identify constitutional and tumor-specific mutations, and genetic variants were identified using the GRCm38/mm10 mouse reference genome. Using hematoxylin and eosin analysis and whole-mount carmine alum staining, we demonstrated the progressive proliferation and invasion of mammary tumors. Frameshift insertions/deletions (indels) were noted in the Muc4. Mammary tumors showed small indels and nonsynonymous single-nucleotide variants but no somatic structural alterations or copy number variations. In summary, we validated MMTV-PyVT transgenic mice as a multistage model for mammary carcinoma development and progression. Our characterization may be used as a reference for guidance in future research.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to determine whether primary parathyroid cancer patients were associated with increased metabolic and cardiovascular comorbidities in comparison to the general population. METHODS: We used the National Taiwan Cancer Registry Database to construct a cohort of patients with parathyroid cancer from January 1, 2004, to December 31, 2019. We compared the incidence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, atrial fibrillation, coronary heart disease, and heart failure with the general population matched based on a propensity score in a one-to-five fashion. RESULTS: A total of 72 parathyroid cancer patients and 360 matched general population (mean age: 55 years; 59% women) were included, with different exclusive numbers for each metabolic and cardiovascular comorbidity cohort. The number of cases based on a total of 2347.7 person-years of observation included 53 deaths, 29 hypertension, 9 diabetes, 13 hyperlipidemia, 10 atrial fibrillation, 18 coronary artery disease, and 13 heart failure. According to multivariate analysis, parathyroid cancer remained significantly associated with diabetes [hazard ratio (HR): 9.28; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.72-50.07], hyperlipidemia (HR: 5.86; 95% CI: 1.61-21.31), and heart failure (HR: 4.46; 95% CI: 1.18-16.84). Sub-distribution of competing mortality events and subgroup analysis showed robust evidence of metabolic and cardiovascular comorbidities. This national cohort study demonstrated that adult parathyroid cancer patients had a significantly higher incidence of diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and heart failure than the general population. CONCLUSIONS: An increased risk of metabolic and cardiac comorbidities among parathyroid cancer patients required great caution.

Cellular retinoic acid binding protein 1 (CRABP1) participates in the regulation of retinoid signaling. Previous studies showed conflicting results regarding the role of CRABP1 in tumor biology, including protumorigenic and tumor-suppressive effects in different types of cancer. Our bioinformatics analyses suggested that CRABP1 expression was downregulated in thyroid cancer. Ectopic expression of CRABP1 in thyroid cancer cells suppressed migratory and invasive activity without affecting cell growth or cell cycle distribution. In transformed normal thyroid follicular epithelial cells, silencing of CRABP1 expression increased invasiveness. Additionally, CRABP1 overexpression was associated with downregulation of the mesenchymal phenotype. Kinase phosphorylation profiling indicated that CRABP1 overexpression was accompanied by a decrease in phosphorylation of epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor and downstream phosphorylation of Akt, STAT3, and FAK, which were reversed by exogenous EGF treatment. Immunohistochemical analysis of our tissue microarrays revealed an inverse association between CRABP1 expression and disease stage of differentiated thyroid cancer. Taken together, our results suggest that CRABP1 expression is aberrantly lost in thyroid cancer, and this downregulation promotes the epithelial-mesenchymal transition at least partly through modulating EGF receptor signaling.

PURPOSE: Thyroid cancer incidence has increased over recent decades with considerable geographic variations in incidence patterns. Here, we analyzed temporal trends in the incidence and mortality rates of thyroid cancer in Taiwan. METHODS: We obtained age-standardized rates at a national level using data from the Taiwan Cancer Registry annual reports from 1995 to 2019. Trends in age-standardized rates were characterized by joinpoint regression analysis. RESULTS: The age-standardized incidence rate of thyroid cancer increased from 3.00 per 100,000 person-years in 1995 to 15.46 per 100,000 person-years in 2019 (p < 0.001). Significant upward trends were observed in virtually all age groups, including adolescents and the geriatric population. The average annual percent changes were 7.97%, 2.60%, 2.77%, and 1.43% for papillary, follicular, medullary, and anaplastic thyroid cancers, respectively. The mortality rate from thyroid cancer decreased over time in women but remained stable in men. CONCLUSION: The incidence rates of thyroid cancer have steadily increased across gender, age groups, and tumor types over the past two decades. Future studies are needed to investigate potential etiological factors other than overdiagnosis that may drive these trends.

PURPOSE: Currently, there are no accurate markers for predicting potentially lethal prostate cancer (PC) before biopsy. This study aimed to develop urine tests to predict clinically significant PC (sPC) in men at risk. METHODS: Urine samples from 928 men, namely, 660 PC patients and 268 benign subjects, were analyzed by gas chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrophotometry (GC/Q-TOF MS) metabolomic profiling to construct four predictive models. Model I discriminated between PC and benign cases. Models II, III, and GS, respectively, predicted sPC in those classified as having favorable intermediate risk or higher, unfavorable intermediate risk or higher (according to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network risk groupings), and a Gleason sum (GS) of ≥ 7. Multivariable logistic regression was used to evaluate the area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUC). RESULTS: In Models I, II, III, and GS, the best AUCs (0.94, 0.85, 0.82, and 0.80, respectively; training cohort, N = 603) involved 26, 24, 26, and 22 metabolites, respectively. The addition of five clinical risk factors (serum prostate-specific antigen, patient age, previous negative biopsy, digital rectal examination, and family history) significantly improved the AUCs of the models (0.95, 0.92, 0.92, and 0.87, respectively). At 90% sensitivity, 48%, 47%, 50%, and 36% of unnecessary biopsies could be avoided. These models were successfully validated against an independent validation cohort (N = 325). Decision curve analysis showed a significant clinical net benefit with each combined model at low threshold probabilities. Models II and III were more robust and clinically relevant than Model GS. CONCLUSION: This urine test, which combines urine metabolic markers and clinical factors, may be used to predict sPC and thereby inform the necessity of biopsy in men with an elevated PC risk.

INTRODUCTION: Although high-dose erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) has been shown to increase mortality risk and adverse cardiovascular events in hemodialysis patients, the safety of extremely low-dose ESA is unclear. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the association between ESA dose and mortality in the monthly dosing range of 0-43,000 U of equivalent epoetin alfa in 304 Taiwan hemodialysis patients by using Cox proportional hazard model and cubic spline model. RESULTS: Compared with mean monthly ESA dose of 15,000-25,000 U (mean ± standard deviation 20,609 ± 2,662 U), monthly ESA dose of less than 15,000 U (mean ± standard deviation 7,413 ± 4,510 U) is associated with increased mortality. Monthly ESA dose of 25,001-43,000 U (mean ± standard deviation 31,160 ± 4,304 U) is not associated with higher mortality risk than monthly ESA dose of 15,000-25,000 U. The results were consistent in Cox proportional hazard models and cubic spline models. Subgroup analyses showed no significant heterogeneities among prespecified subgroups. CONCLUSIONS: Extremely low dose of ESA in hemodialysis patients may be associated with increased mortality risk. Future studies are warranted to prove this association.

AIM: To evaluate the association between ambient particulate matter no larger than 2.5 µm in diameter (PM2.5 ) during the prenatal and postnatal periods and infant neurodevelopmental parameters. METHOD: We conducted a population-based birth cohort study using the Taiwan Birth Cohort Study. Participants were assessed for developmental conditions through home interviews at 6 months and 18 months of age. Exposure to PM2.5 of mothers and infants during perinatal periods was estimated using hybrid kriging/land-use regression. The exposure was linked to each participant by home address. Logistic regression was then conducted to determine the risk of neurodevelopmental delay in relation to PM2.5 . RESULTS: A total of 17 683 term singletons without congenital malformations were included in the final analysis. PM2.5 during the second trimester was associated with increased risks of delays in gross motor neurodevelopmental milestones (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.09 per 10 µg/m3 increase in exposure to PM2.5 ). Delayed fine motor development was also found to be related to exposure to PM2.5 in the second and third trimesters (aOR 1.06), as was personal-social skill (aOR 1.11 for the second trimester and 1.06 for the third). These neurodevelopmental parameters were unrelated to postnatal PM2.5 exposure. INTERPRETATION: Exposure to ambient PM2.5 during pregnancy was significantly related to delay in gross motor, fine motor, and personal-social development in this population-based study. WHAT THIS PAPER ADDS: Prenatal exposure to higher PM2.5 was associated with increased risk of delayed early neurodevelopment. The critical period for delayed gross motor development was the second trimester. The critical period for fine motor and personal-social development was the second and third trimesters.

BACKGROUND: It is unclear to familial screen time in early childhood is associated with the subsequent diagnosis of attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Our study is to evaluate the association between screen time during early childhood in families and the incidence of ADHD. METHODS: We conducted a population-based birth cohort study by using the Taiwan Birth Cohort Study, which recruited 24 200 mother-child pairs when children were 6 months old. Screen time exposure for children and parents were collected at the age of 18 and 36 months. Whether the child has ever been diagnosed with ADHD was determined at a follow-up interview at age 8. Factors including socioeconomic factors and screen time were analyzed using logistic regression to determine their association with the rate of ADHD. RESULTS: A total of 16 651 term singletons were included in the final analysis. Of them, 382 (2.3%) were diagnosed as having ADHD before the age of 8 years. No significant relationship between children's or fathers' screen time and ADHD was noted. When compared to children whose mothers spent less time on screens, those whose mothers spent more than 3 h a day on screens when the child was 3 years old exhibited a higher incidence of ADHD (adjusted OR [aOR]: 1.31, 95% CI: 1.03-1.66). CONCLUSION: Higher maternal screen time when the child was 3 years old was associated with an increased incidence of ADHD in this population-based study. However, children's screen time did not find related to ADHD. We found that it was the mother's screen time, who typically serves as the primary caregiver in our study participants, not the child's, that mattered. In addition to superficial screen use time, future research is needed to replicate the findings and clarify mechanisms underlying this association.

The pulmonary artery catheter (PAC)-despite its invasiveness-remains the gold standard for cardiac output (CO) monitoring. The FloTrac system, a less invasive hemodynamic monitor has been developed, which estimates CO using arterial pressure waveform analysis without external calibration. Recently, an upgraded version of FloTrac system with improved algorithm to follow changes in vascular resistance was introduced into the market. The aim of this study was to assess the reliability of the CO estimated from the fourth-generation FloTrac/EV1000 system (COFT) compared to that measured with PAC using the thermodilution method (COPAC) during robotic-assisted off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery. COFT and COPAC were obtained simultaneously at 4 predefined time points during robotic-assisted OPCAB: 5 min after the induction of general anesthesia (T1), after starting one-lung ventilation (T2), after capnothorax (T3), and after mini-thoracotomy was performed (T4). The agreement of data was investigated by Bland-Altman analysis. Thirty-four patients were initially enrolled. After exclusion, 32 patients and a total of 128 paired CO measurements were obtained. The overall bias was 1.46 L/min, the 95% limits of agreements were - 3.40 to 6.33 L/min, and the percentage error was 72.98%. Regression analysis of the systemic vascular resistance index (SVRI) and the bias between COPAC and COFT showed that the bias was moderately correlated with the SVRI (r2 = 0.43; p < 0.0001). Despite a software upgrade, the reliability of the fourth-generation FloTrac/EV1000™ system during robotic-assisted OPCAB to estimate CO was not acceptable, especially in patients with low SVRI.

OBJECTIVE: Although unhealthy diets exacerbate nutritional and metabolic derangements in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), how therapeutic diets that possess a variety of different dietary strategies acutely modify diverse biochemical parameters related to cardiovascular disease remains underexplored. METHODS: Thirty-three adults with end-stage kidney disease undergoing thrice-weekly hemodialysis participated in a randomized crossover trial comparing a therapeutic diet with their usual diets for 7 days, separated by a 4-week washout period. The therapeutic diet was characterized by adequate calorie and protein amounts, natural food ingredients with a low phosphorus-to-protein ratio, higher portions of plant-based food, and high fiber content. The primary outcome measure was the mean difference in the change-from-baseline intact fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) level between the 2 diets. The other outcomes of interest included changes in mineral parameters, uremic toxins, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels. RESULTS: Compared with the usual diet, the therapeutic diet lowered intact FGF23 levels (P = .001), decreased serum phosphate levels (P < .001), reduced intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels (P = .003), lowered C-terminal FGF23 levels (P = .03), increased serum calcium levels (P = .01), and tended to lower total indoxyl sulfate levels (P = .07) but had no significant effect on hs-CRP levels. Among these changes, reduction in serum phosphate level achieved in 2 days, modifications of intact PTH and calcium levels in 5 days, and reductions in intact and C-terminal FGF23 levels in 7 days of therapeutic diet intervention. CONCLUSION: Within the 1-week intervention period, the dialysis-specific therapeutic diet rapidly reversed mineral abnormalities and tended to decrease total indoxyl sulfate levels in patients undergoing hemodialysis but had no effect on inflammation. Future studies to assess the long-term effects of such therapeutic diets are recommended.

PURPOSE: The incidence of thyroid cancer has increased substantially over the past few decades and is partially explained by overdiagnosis. Geographical variations in incidence rates were reported to be related to national development status. This study aimed to gain deeper insights into global thyroid cancer burden by incorporating additional social and economic factors to account for cross-national disparities. METHODS: We performed a multivariate analysis of age-standardized incidence and mortality data from the GLOBOCAN 2020 database for 126 countries that had more than 100 incident cases of thyroid cancer. The human development index (HDI), current health expenditure, and additional Global Health Observatory indicators were extracted from multiple sources. RESULTS: Age-standardized incidence was highly correlated with HDI (standardized coefficient beta = 0.523, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.275-0.771) among the countries studied. The prevalence of raised fasting blood glucose was associated with age-standardized mortality (beta = 0.277, 95% CI = 0.038-0.517). Generally, the mortality-to-incidence ratio was higher in males than in females. In multivariate analysis, HDI (beta = - 0.767, 95% CI = - 0.902 to - 0.633), current health expenditure (beta = 0.265, 95% CI = 0.137-0.394), and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations (beta = 0.192, 95% CI = 0.086-0.298) were associated with mortality-to-incidence ratios. CONCLUSIONS: National developments gauged by HDI explain the majority of the variation in incidence rates of thyroid cancer but play a smaller role in disparities in mortality rates. The association between air pollution and thyroid cancer outcomes warrants further investigation.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to identify adverse events following the first three doses of COVID-19 vaccines in hemodialysis (HD) patients. Risk factors associated with postvaccination adverse events were explored. METHODS: Postvaccination adverse events in 438 HD patients who received 3 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were prospectively assessed. The adverse events among three doses were compared using generalized linear mixed models. Factors associated with adverse events were assessed with multivariate analyses. RESULTS: The vast majority of participants received Oxford/AstraZeneca ChAdOx1 as their first two doses and Moderna mRNA-1273 as their third dose. Overall, 79%, 50% and 84% of the participants experienced at least one adverse event after their first, second, and third doses, respectively. These adverse events were mostly minor, short-lived and less than 5% reported daily activities being affected. Compared with the first dose, the second dose caused a lower rate of adverse events. Compared with the first dose, the third dose elicited a higher rate of injection site reactions and a lower rate of systemic reactions. Multivariate analyses showed that every 10-year increase of age (odds ratio 0.67, 95% confidence intervals 0.57-0.79) was associated with decreased risk of adverse events, while female sex (2.82, 1.90-4.18) and arteriovenous fistula (1.73, 1.05-2.84) were associated with increased risk of adverse events. Compared with Oxford/AstraZeneca ChAdOx1, Moderna mRNA-1273 was associated with an increased risk of injection site reactions. CONCLUSIONS: COVID-19 vaccination was well tolerated in HD patients. Age, sex, dialysis vascular access and vaccine types were associated with postvaccination adverse events.

This article presents a performance investigation of a fault detection approach for bearings using different chaotic features with fractional order, where the five different chaotic features and three combinations are clearly described, and the detection achievement is organized. In the architecture of the method, a fractional order chaotic system is first applied to produce a chaotic map of the original vibration signal in the chaotic domain, where small changes in the signal with different bearing statuses might be present; then, a 3D feature map can be obtained. Second, five different features, combination methods, and corresponding extraction functions are introduced. In the third action, the correlation functions of extension theory used to construct the classical domain and joint fields are applied to further define the ranges belonging to different bearing statuses. Finally, testing data are fed into the detection system to verify the performance. The experimental results show that the proposed different chaotic features perform well in the detection of bearings with 7 and 21 mil diameters, and an average accuracy rate of 94.4% was achieved in all cases.

The Internet of Things (IoT) for smart industry requires the surveillance and management of people and objects. The ultra-wideband positioning system is an attractive solution for achieving centimeter-level accuracy in target location. While many studies have focused on improving the accuracy of the anchor coverage range, it is important to note that in practical applications, positioning areas are often limited and obstructed by furniture, shelves, pillars, or walls, which can restrict the placement of anchors. Furthermore, some positioning regions are located beyond anchor coverage, and a single group with few anchors may not be able to cover all rooms and aisles on a floor due to non-line-of-sight errors causing severe positioning errors. In this work, we propose a dynamic-reference anchor time difference of arrival (TDOA) compensation algorithm to enhance accuracy beyond anchor coverage by eliminating local minima of the TDOA loss function near anchors. We designed a multidimensional and multigroup TDOA positioning system with the aim of broadening the coverage of indoor positioning and accommodating complex indoor environments. By employing an address-filter technique and group-switching process, tags can seamlessly move between groups with a high positioning rate, low latency, and high accuracy. We deployed the system in a medical center to locate and manage researchers with infectious medical waste, demonstrating its usefulness for practical healthcare institutions. Our proposed positioning system can thus facilitate precise and wide-range indoor and outdoor wireless localization.
