RESUMO

Meningiomas rank among the most common intracranial tumors, and surgery stands as the primary treatment modality for meningiomas. The precise subtyping and diagnosis of meningiomas, both before and during surgery, play a pivotal role in enabling neurosurgeons choose the optimal surgical program. In this study, we utilized multiphoton microscopy (MPM) based on 2-photon excited fluorescence and second-harmonic generation to identify 5 common meningioma subtypes. The morphological features of these subtypes were depicted using the MPM multichannel mode. Additionally, we developed 2 distinct programs to quantify collagen content and blood vessel density. Furthermore, the lambda mode of the MPM characterized architectural and spectral features, from which 3 quantitative indicators were extracted. Moreover, we employed machine learning to differentiate meningioma subtypes automatically, achieving high classification accuracy. These findings demonstrate the potential of MPM as a noninvasive diagnostic tool for meningioma subtyping and diagnosis, offering improved accuracy and resolution compared with traditional methods.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is often associated with glycemic abnormalities. This study is conducted to investigate the effects of hypoglycemic therapy on OSA-related indicators. METHOD: We systematically searched Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for articles on OSA patients receiving any hypoglycemic drugs, published until December 25, 2022. Seven original studies were finally included. The proposal was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42022351206). RESULTS: In summary, in addition to reduced glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), we found that hypoglycemic treatment can lower the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) by 7.07/h (p = 0.0001). Although long-term treatment (> 12 weeks) achieved a more significant reduction in HbA1c (- 1.57% vs. - 0.30%) compared to short-term treatment (≤ 12 weeks), there was no significant difference between the two in terms of AHI (intergroup p-value = 0.27). We also found that patients using sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) experienced a greater reduction in AHI (- 11.00/h, p < 0.00001). Additionally, hypoglycemic treatment also showed certain improvements in related indicators like Epworth Sleepiness Scale, body mass index, and blood pressure. CONCLUSIONS: Our results affirm the benefits of hypoglycemic treatment for OSA patients and highlight the notable effect of SGLT2i. Further researches are needed to help doctors gain a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between OSA and glycemic abnormalities.

BACKGROUND: Multiple studies showed sex discrepancies in the prevalence, incidence, and disease control of asthma. The relationships between different reproductive factors and the risk of asthma in females remain uncertain. DESIGN: A prospective cohort study recruited 239,701 female participants from the UK Biobank. The Cox proportional hazard model and multiple adjusted restricted cubic splines were used to evaluate the association between each reproductive factor and the risk of adult-onset asthma. KEY RESULTS: We observed that the association of age at menarche and age of menopause with adult-onset asthma risk presented as U-shaped, with multiple adjusted HRs for age at menarche being 1.129 (95% CI, 1.038-1.228) for ≤ 11 years old and 1.157 (95% CI, 1.058-1.265) for ≥ 15 years old referenced to 13 years old, and for age at menopause being 1.368 (1.237-1.512) for ≤ 46 years old and 1.152 (1.026-1.294) for ≥ 55 years old referenced to 50-52 years old. Early age at first live birth (≤ 20 years old), a greater number of miscarriages (≥ 2) or stillbirths (≥ 2), more children (≥ 4), and shorter reproductive years (≤ 32 years) were associated with elevated risk of asthma. In addition, history of hysterectomy or oophorectomy was associated with increased risk of adult-onset asthma, particularly in those with simultaneous hysterectomy and oophorectomy (HR, 1.239; 95% CI, 1.063-1.445). For exogenous sex hormones, hormone replacement therapy (HR, 1.482; 95% CI, 1.394-1.574) was identified to be associated with elevated risk of adult-onset asthma. CONCLUSIONS: This study not only demonstrated significant associations between multiple reproductive factors and the risk of adult-onset asthma in a female's later life, but also found that history of hysterectomy or oophorectomy, as well as hormone replacement therapy, was linked to an elevated incidence of adult-onset asthma. Our findings highlighted the significance of reproductive factors in the development of asthma in female populations.

OBJECTIVES: The effect of air pollution exposure on incident lung cancer remains uncertain, and the modifying role of lifestyle and genetic susceptibility in association between air pollution and lung cancer is ambiguous. METHODS: A total of 367,623 participants from UK biobank cohort were enrolled in the analysis. The concentrations of particle matter (PM2.5, PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOx), were evaluated by land-use regression model. Cox proportional hazard model was applied to assess the associations between air pollution and incident lung cancer. A lifestyle risk score and a polygenic risk score were established to investigate whether lifestyle and heritable risk could modify the effect of air pollution on lung cancer risk. RESULTS: Per interquartile range (IQR) increment in annual concentrations of PM2.5 (HR = 1.22, 95% CI, 1.15∼1.30), NO2 (HR = 1.19, 95% CI, 1.10∼1.27), and NOx (HR = 1.14, 95% CI, 1.09∼1.20) were associated with increased risk of lung cancer. We observed an additive interaction between air pollution including PM2.5 and NOx and lifestyle or genetic risk. Individuals with high air pollution exposure, poor lifestyle and high genetic risk had the highest risk of incident lung cancer. CONCLUSION: Long-term exposures to air pollution is associated with increased risk of lung cancer, and this effect was modified by lifestyle or genetic risk. Integrated interventions for environmental pollution by government and adherence to healthy lifestyle by individuals are advocated for lung cancer prevention.

Brain development from 1 to 6 years of age anchors a wide range of functional capabilities and carries early signs of neurodevelopmental disorders. However, quantitative models for depicting brain morphology changes and making individualized inferences are lacking, preventing the identification of early brain atypicality during this period. With a sample size of 285, we characterized the age dependence of the cortical thickness and subcortical volume in neurologically normal children and constructed quantitative growth charts of all brain regions for preschool children. While the cortical thickness of most brain regions decreased with age, the entorhinal and parahippocampal regions displayed an inverted-U shape of age dependence. Compared to the cortical thickness, the normalized volume of subcortical regions exhibited more divergent trends, with some regions increasing, some decreasing, and some displaying inverted-U-shaped trends. The growth curve models for all brain regions demonstrated utilities in identifying brain atypicality. The percentile measures derived from the growth curves facilitate the identification of children with developmental speech and language disorders with an accuracy of 0.875 (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve: 0.943). Our results fill the knowledge gap in brain morphometrics in a critical development period and provide an avenue for individualized brain developmental status evaluation with demonstrated sensitivity. Drought is one of the most important factors affecting plant growth and production due to ongoing global climate change. Elymus sibiricus has been widely applied for ecological restoration and reseeding of degraded grassland in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) because of its strong adaptability to barren, salted, and drought soils. To explore the mechanism of drought resistance in E. sibiricus, drought-tolerant and drought-sensitive genotypes of E. sibiricus were used in metabolomic studies under simulated long-term and short-term drought stress. A total of 1091 metabolites were detected, among which, 27 DMs were considered to be the key metabolites for drought resistance of E. sibiricus in weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA). Ten metabolites, including 3-amino-2-methylpropanoic acid, coniferin, R-aminobutyrate, and so on, and 12 metabolites, including L-Proline, L-histidine, N-acetylglycine, and so on, showed differential accumulation patterns under short-term and long-term drought stress, respectively, and thus, could be used as biomarkers for drought-tolerant and drought-sensitive E. sibiricus. In addition, different metabolic accumulation patterns and different drought response mechanisms were also found in drought-tolerant and drought-sensitive genotypes of E. sibiricus. Finally, we constructed metabolic pathways and metabolic patterns for the two genotypes. This metabolomic study on the drought stress response of E. sibiricus can provide resources and a reference for the breeding of new drought-tolerant cultivars of E. sibiricus.

This research aimed to evaluate the antihepatic fibrosis effect and explore the mechanism of Qiwei Qinggan Powder (QGS-7) in vivo and in vitro. Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-treated rats and hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) were used. QGS-7 treatment significantly improved the liver function of rats as indicated by decreased serum enzymatic activities of alanine aminotransferase, aspartate transaminase, and alkaline phosphatase. Meanwhile, the hydroxyproline of liver was significantly decreased. Histopathological results indicated that QGS-7 alleviated liver damage and reduced the formation of fibrosis septa. Moreover, QGS-7 significantly attenuated expressions of Alpha smooth muscle actin, Collagen I, Janus kinase 2 (JAK2), phosphorylation-JAK2, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), phosphorylation-STAT3 in the rat hepatic fibrosis model. QGS-7 inhibited HSC proliferation and promoted it apoptosis. QGS-7 may affect hepatic fibrosis through JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway so as to play an antihepatic fibrosis role.

OBJECTIVE: Adropin is a recently discovered peptide hormone that plays a vital role in metabolism and cardiovascular-cerebrovascular function. The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of circulating adropin levels in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and further determine the relationship between serum adropin concentration and endothelial dysfunction in patients with OSAHS. METHODS: Forty polysomnography-diagnosed patients with OSAHS and 21 age and sex-matched healthy controls were enrolled in the current study. Serum adropin level, endothelial function parameters including flow-mediated dilatation (FMD) of brachial artery, endothelin-1 (ET-1), and nitric oxide (NO) were measured in all participants. RESULTS: Serum adropin levels were significantly lower in patients with OSAHS compared to the control subjects. FMD was lower and serum ET-1 levels were higher in patients with OSAHS compared to control subjects. No significant difference was seen in serum NO levels between the two groups. Multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that serum adropin level was positively associated with FMD and negatively correlated with AHI. Additionally, serum adropin levels were lower in patients with OSAHS who had endothelial dysfunction compared with those patients without endothelial dysfunction. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis showed that area under the curve (AUC) for serum adropin in predicting endothelial dysfunction status in patients with OSAHS was 0.815 (95% CI 0.680-0.951, p = 0.001). The cutoff value of serum adropin level was less than 235.0 pg/mL, which provided the sensitivity and specificity of 81% and 75%, respectively, for the detection of endothelial dysfunction in patients with OSAHS. CONCLUSION: Lower circulating adropin levels are closely associated with endothelial dysfunction in patients with OSAHS. Circulating adropin level may serve as an early biomarker to predict the development of endothelial dysfunction before the emergence of clinical symptoms in patients with OSAHS.

Quinones and humus are ubiquitous in the biosphere and play an important role in the anaerobic biodegradation and biotransformation of organic acids, poisonous compounds as well as inorganic compounds. The impact of humic model compound, anthraquinone-2, 6-disulfonate (AQDS) on anaerobic phenol and p-cresol degradation were studied. Four methanogenic AQDS-free phenol and p-cresol enrichments and two phenol-AQDS enrichments were obtained using two sludges with potential biodegradability of phenol and cresol isomers as inoculum. 16S rRNA gene-cloning analysis combined with fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that syntrophic aromatic compound degrading bacterium Syntrophorhabdus aromaticivorans was dominant in four AQDS-free enrichments, whereas phenol degrading Cryptanaerobacter phenolicus was dominant in two phenol-AQDS enrichments. Neither co-culture of S. aromaticivorans with Methanospirillum hungatei nor two phenol-AQDS enrichments could metabolize phenol using AQDS as the terminal electron acceptor. Further degradation experiments suggested that C. phenolicus related microbes in two phenol-AQDS enrichments were responsible for the conversion of phenol to benzoate, and benzoate was further degraded by benzoate degraders of Syntrophus aciditrophicus or Sporotomaculum syntrophicum to acetate.

Neutrophils activated during acute lung injury (ALI) form neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) to capture pathogens. However, excessive NETs can cause severe inflammatory reactions. Macrophages are classified as M1 macrophages with proinflammatory effects or M2 macrophages with anti-inflammatory effects. During ALI, alveolar macrophages (AMs) polarize to the M1 phenotype. This study tested the hypothesis that NETs may aggravate ALI or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) inflammation by promoting alveolar macrophage polarization to the M1 type. Our research was carried out in three aspects: clinical research, animal experiments and in vitro experiments. We determined that NET levels in ARDS patients were positively correlated with M1-like macrophage polarization. NET formation was detected in murine ALI tissue and associated with increased M1 markers and decreased M2 markers in BALF and lung tissue. Treatment with NET inhibitors significantly inhibitor NETs generation, downregulated M1 markers and upregulated M2 markers. Regardless of LPS pre-stimulation, significant secretion of proinflammatory cytokines and upregulated M1 markers were detected from bone marrow-derived macrophages (M0 and M2) cocultured with high concentrations of NETs; conversely, M2 markers were downregulated. In conclusion, NETs promote ARDS inflammation during the acute phase by promoting macrophage polarization to the M1 phenotype. We propose that NETs play an important role in the interaction between neutrophils and macrophages during the early acute phase of ALI.

PURPOSE: Intermittent hypoxia (IH) is a recognized risk factor for multiple organs damage, resulting in lung injury. Its pathophysiology is still poorly understood. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling plays a critical role in host immune response to invading pathogen and non-infectious tissue injury. The role of TLR4-mediated inflammation in IH-induced lung injury was investigated in this study. METHODS: Lean adult male TLR4-deficient (TLR4-/-) mice and their controls (C57BL/6 mice) were exposed to either IH (FiO2 6-8% for 25 s, 150 s/cycle, 8 h/day) or air (normoxic mice) for 6 weeks. Animals were sacrificed after 6-week exposure, and the lung tissues were harvested for morphological and inflammatory analyses. The expression of TLR4 and nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) P65 were examined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical method. Serum cytokine levels of interleukin (IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: IH induced morphological and inflammation changes in the lung. IH for 6 weeks induced higher expression of TLR4 (C57BL/6-N vs C57BL/6-IH, P < 0.05) and resulted in higher release of TNF-α, IL-6 (P < 0.05), and NF-κB P65 (P < 0.05). These alterations were remitted by TLR4 deletion. CONCLUSIONS: TLR4-mediated inflammation plays an important role in the development of IH-induced lung injury in mice, possibly through mechanisms involving nuclear factor-κB. Targeting TLR4/NF-κB pathway could represent a further therapeutic option for sleep apnea patients.

PURPOSE: Several studies have reported that serum YKL-40 level was elevated in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). However, most of these studies had relatively small sample sizes and the results were inconsistent. Therefore, a meta-analysis was conducted to determine the potential role of serum YKL-40 level in OSAHS. METHODS: A systematic literature search was performed in several databases to identify eligible studies involving the relationship between serum YKL-40 level and OSAHS. The standardized mean difference (SMD) with its 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated to determine the effect sizes. RESULTS: Five eligible articles were extracted in this meta-analysis. The pooled results demonstrated that the serum YKL-40 level was significantly higher in OSAHS patients compared with their non-OSAHS controls (SMD 1.03, 95% CI 0.46, 1.59, I2 = 87%, P = 0.0004). The subgroup analysis showed that Asian (SMD 1.81, 95% CI 1.41, 2.21, I2 = 0%, P < 0.00001) and Caucasian (SMD 0.67, 95% CI 0.39, 0.96, I2 = 0%, P < 0.00001) patients with OSAHS had higher serum YKL-40 levels than their non-OSAHS controls. YKL-40 level in serum was increased in OSAHS patients with BMI < 28 (SMD 1.81, 95% CI 1.41, 2.21, I2 = 0%, P < 0.00001), as well as in patients with BMI ≥ 28 (SMD 0.57, 95% CI 0.33, 0.81, I2 = 0%, P < 0.00001). In addition, OSAHS patients with cardiac complications had a higher serum YKL-40 level compared with those patients without cardiac complications (SMD 0.80, 95% CI 0.32, 1.28, I2 = 67%, P = 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: This study indicates that OSAHS patients have higher serum YKL-40 level, which may serve as a potential biomarker for OSAHS diagnosis and monitoring.

Sulfamethazine (SM2) is one of the sulfonamide antibiotics that is frequently detected in aquatic environment. Given the complex structure of SM2 and its potential threat to the environment, it is necessary to determine the degradation behavior of high-concentration SM2. The mechanisms of community structure and diversity of activated sludge were analyzed. A novel SM2-degrading strain YL1 was isolated which can degrade SM2 with high concentration of 100 mg L-1. Strain YL1 was identified as Paenarthrobacter ureafaciens and there was also a significant increase in the genus during acclimation. Additional SM2 metabolic mechanisms and genomic information of YL1 were analyzed for further research. The succession of the community structure also investigated the effect of SM2 on the activated sludge. This result not only advances the current understanding of microbial ecology in activated sludge, but also has practical implications for the design and operation of the environmental bioprocesses for treatment of antimicrobial-bearing waste streams.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a type of acute lung injury (ALI), which causes high morbidity and mortality. So far, effective clinical treatment of ARDS is still limited. Recently, miR-146b has been reported to play a key role in inflammation. In the present study, we evaluated the functional role of miR-146b in ARDS using the murine model of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced ALI. The miR-146b expression could be induced by LPS stimulation, and miR-146b overexpression was required in the maintenance of body weight and survival of ALI mice; after miR-146b overexpression, LPS-induced lung injury, pulmonary inflammation, total cell and neutrophil counts, proinflammatory cytokines, and chemokines in bronchial alveolar lavage (BAL) fluid were significantly reduced. The promotive effect of LPS on lung permeability through increasing total protein, albumin and IgM in BAL fluid could be partially reversed by miR-146b overexpression. Moreover, in murine alveolar macrophages, miR-146b overexpression reduced LPS-induced TNF-α and interleukin (IL)-1ß releasing. Taken together, we demonstrated that miR-146b overexpression could effectively improve the LPS-induced ALI; miR-146b is a promising target in ARDS treatment.

Acinetobacter baumannii is a Gram-negative coccobacillus found primarily in hospital settings that has recently emerged as a source of hospital-acquired infections, including bacterial pneumonia. The hLF(1-11) peptide comprising the first 11 N-terminal residues of human lactoferrin exerts antimicrobial activity in vivo and was highly effective against multidrug-resistant A. baumannii strains in vitro and in vivo. Pyroptosis is a caspase-1-dependent inflammatory cell death process and is induced by various microbial infections. In the present study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms that regulate pyroptosis induced by A. baumannii in macrophages. Our results revealed that A. baumannii induced pyroptosis through caspase-1 activation and IL-1ß production. We also found that caspase-1 activation and IL-1ß maturation in A. baumannii-triggered pyroptotic cell death were reduced by hLF(1-11) treatment. Moreover, hLF(1-11) inhibited the A. baumannii-induced caspase-1 activation and pyroptosis of pulmonary alveolar macrophages in vivo.

BACKGROUND: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)-associated chronic kidney disease is mainly caused by chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) triggered renal damage. This study aims to investigate the role of toll-like receptor-4 (TLR4) in underlying mechanism involved chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH)-induced renal damage. METHODS: C57BL/6J mice with normal TLR4 (TLR4 WT) or deficient TLR4 (TLR4 KO) were divided into four groups and exposed to normal air (NA) and CIH: TLR4 WT + NA, TLR4 KO + NA, TLR4 WT + CIH, and TLR4 KO + CIH. CIH lasted for 8 h/day and 7 days/week for 6 weeks. Renal injury and inflammation were evaluated by histology and ELISA. Renal tubular apoptosis, macrophages, and fibroblasts recruitment were determined by TUNEL assay, immunofluorescence, and western blot. RESULTS: In response to CIH, TLR4 deficiency alleviated renal histological injury, renal dysfunction, and fibrosis. TLR4 deficiency ameliorated renal dysfunction (serum BUN and creatinine) and tubular endothelial apoptosis determined by immunofluorescence staining of CD31 and TUNEL, and western blot of apoptotic protein (caspase-3, c-caspase-3, and Bax/Bcl-2 ratio). Furthermore, we also found TLR4 deficiency abrogated CIH-induced macrophages (CD68) and fibroblasts (α-SMA) recruitment, further reducing expression of extra-cellular matrix protein (collagen I and collagen IV) and inflammatory cytokines release (IL-6, TNF-α, and MCP-1). Finally, we used immunohistochemistry to demonstrate that TLR4 deficiency attenuated increased expression of MyD88 and NF-kB p65 after CIH treatment. CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that TLR4 plays a vital role in CIH-induced renal injury, inflammation and fibrosis, and inhibition of TLR4 probably provides a therapeutic potential for CIH-induced kidney damage.

The Danjiangkou Reservoir (DJKR) is the freshwater source for the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China, and its water level and storage changes are important for water resource management. To maximize the potential capacity of the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) mission, an improved Lagrange multiplier method (ILMM) is first proposed to detect terrestrial water storage anomalies (TWSA) in the small-scale basin (DJKR). Moreover, for the first time, water diversion fingerprints are proposed to analyze the spatiotemporal pattern of the TWSA in the DJKR. The results indicate that the increased water level and storage signals due to the DJKR impoundment in 2014 can be effectively detected by using the ILMM, and they agree well with the results from altimetry and in situ data. Additionally, the water diversion fingerprints due to the DJKR impoundment are inferred, and describe the progression of spatiotemporal variability in water storage. The results show that water storage decreased in the upper Hanjiang River and increased in the DJKR as well as to the east of it during the period 2013-2015. Our research provides a scientific decision-making basis for monitoring the water resources of the DJKR and managing the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.

The superconducting nanowire single-photon detector (SNSPD) is used to detect the sunlight reflected by the artificial satellite and space debris. In the process, light curves of the satellite and space debris are successfully measured. In 2017, a space-debris laser ranging system with a four-element SNSPD is developed by Yunnan Observatories in China. During the ranging experiments, the detector works in a freely detecting state. It can detect photons not only of the laser echo, but also of the sunlight reflected by the target. After separating the data triggered by background light from the whole detected data set, the light curves of satellites, including Topex and several types of debris, are acquired. The apparent rotation rate of the satellite Topex is determined by analyzing the light curves by Fourier transform and phase dispersion minimization. On the basis of a laser ranging system using SNSPDs, the simultaneous measurement of the laser ranging and light curves of some space targets without any additional equipment is realized for the first time, to the best of our knowledge.

OBJECTIVES: To determine the feasibility of balanced steady-state free precession (b-SSFP) imaging for measuring hepatic steatosis in obese children and adolescents, using proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS) as reference standard. METHODS: 182 obese Chinese paediatric patients underwent conventional T1-weighted dual echo MRI, 1H MRS and b-SSFP imaging for non-invasive assessment of hepatic steatosis. RESULTS: There was a strong positive correlation between liver fat fraction (FF) on T1-weighted dual echo MRI and 1H MRS-determined liver fat content (LFC) (r = 0.964, p < .001), and a strong negative correlation between the ratio of liver signal intensity (SI) to spleen SI (L/S) on b-SSFP and LFC (r = -0.896, p < .001). ROC curve analysis based on a diagnostic threshold of 1H MRS-determined LFC >50 mg/g (>5 % by wet weight) showed areas under the curves for FF and L/S at 0.989 (0.976-1.000) and 0.926 (0.888-0.964), respectively. Optimal FF and L/S cut-off values identified patients with hepatic steatosis with 97.9 % and 86.5 % sensitivity and 93.4 % and 93.4 % specificity, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Following further validation, b-SSFP at 1.5T has potential as a feasible technique for evaluation of hepatic steatosis in obese paediatric patients with limited breath-holding capacity. KEY POINTS: • L/S on b-SSFP images closely correlated with 1 H MRS-determined LFC. • b-SSFP has high diagnostic accuracy for hepatic steatosis in obese children. • 100% of obese paediatric subjects are imaged successfully using b-SSFP sequence. • b-SSFP has potential to evaluate hepatic steatosis in children with poor breath-hold.
